I find no one "ever" works as hard, avoid if you can prepay for services before they are rendered" (it's usually never worth it, pay with a credit card, at least you'll have "disputing" the payment abilities, and they will have to defend their position which has often resembled an inherent right to keep and not earn your money and time), and "remember they require upfront Refundable and Non-refundable Deposits, make sure you know; as you'll see they'll try to potentially trip you up later. It's ugly until you take the initiative and put your big boy or girl undies or panties of steel on and fix what's going very wrong with your case and lacking representation. I think Attorney Ognian Gavrilov when I think and vote for the dishonest divorce attorney and businessman of the year and all times! All we did was spin wheels with no logical explanation for 7 months, would have been longer you see had I allowed it without asking questions. If we act like cattle and sheep waiting to be shaved, milked, branded and slaughtered, they treat us as such, it's disgusting we can become so desperate in life to trust such swindlers we encounter. I was willing to share what I learned to the point my divorce was finalized. Maybe the atty signed to me was new to the firm? He was nervous and not as focused as I would have expected from a firm with a certain reputation. The person, who I consider a wonderful friend and who referred me to this firm, spoke sooooooo highly about the founding partner that it set my expectations to the moon. I'm writing this review for a case that was handled for my russian speaking mother. She contacted Gavrilov & Brooks (or Meyer?) in hopes of being helped to handle a divorce. Upon hiring Amanda to handle the case, we were promised a translator for their meetings. Many times my mother would show up to a meeting without anyones assistance, and other times had to find someone to attend the appointment with her. Often times she would leave the appointment not completely understanding the situation, being charged for a conversation that led to no where because of a language barrier. Please don't accept business from people who are unable to communicate with! Otherwise hold your promise to providing a legitimate translator for all sessions. A separate and very disappointing aspect of this company is their billing system. Not once were they able to provide a detailed up-to-date statement reflecting charges and payments as they were posted. We were receiving phone calls requesting payment from different employees who were not even aware of the payments that had been made monthly. They failed to do any research of the account, and felt completely comfortable asking for payment in full over the phone, even after there was an agreement to make monthly payments. In conclusion, my mother felt as though Amanda was not on her side in this case. The opposing party was not the easiest to work with, and she made it a point to mention every time there was a hiccup in the process. The divorce took TWO Years by the way, "of course" the opposing parties fault. When one hires an attorney, they expect a certain level of professionalism, trust, and understanding. I can truly say that our experience was an additional headache to the divorce in itself. I have had two consultations with 2 different attorneys at this firm: #1 Amanda Gimbel (Family Law): Amanda assisted me with a family law matter that had been horribly mangled by a LDA that I had worked with. Although much more expensive than I had hoped, Amanda expertly and efficiently handled my case delivering the exact result that I was looking for. In addition, she was professional, on time and incredibly helpful and friendly. #2 Ognian Gavrilov (Business Litigation) Ognian consulted with me on a business contract that I had for many years but which had turned into a "patchwork quilt". He and his associates extensively rewrote the document to my exact line of business. I felt very comfortable with his suggestions given his extensive courtroom record and trial experience. I later went on to use this contract to successfully negotiate large business transactions with Fortune 50 companies (one in-house legal counsel declared the contract "clean" - high praise!). Gavrilov & Brooks does have a very specific style and way of doing things...they are extremely businesslike and focused... if this approach does not immediately agree with you I would not recommend that you continue.
