If you value your safety, time and money please DO NOT choose this shop for purchasing a used vehicle or servicing your car. Myself and my partner recently purchased a used vehicle from GB Autos and had a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. The owner, Paul, and his daughter, Megha, run the shop. To make a long story short, this is NOT a sound business, they will be nice and helpful until they take your money - then they want nothing to do with you and will turn to INTIMIDATION AND THREATS to embarrass you in the shop in front of other customers. Paul is a scam artist and his daughter is too young and immature to be running the business (frankly, I feel bad for her for being pulled into such a scammy business). Unfortunately, because Paul and his daughter refuse to take responsibility and fix what pre-existing issues the car has (that we will most likely have to pay out-of-pocket for), we are now in the process of submitting a detailed complaint to the Better Business Bureau of Ontario and consulting with a lawyer.
The details:
We purchased a vehicle they told us was in great condition, and the same week we bought it we noticed it was guzzling oil like mad and smoking to an unreasonable degree. They also lost the second key and said they would try to find it.
We had paid for the car in full and took it and came back later to collect the ownership papers. When my partner went to collect the ownership papers he mentioned to Paul that there was an issue with the car already. Instead of addressing this concern, Paul told my partner to essentially "SHUT UP AND GET OUT" (in front of other customers) and tried to intimidate my partner further by saying "DO YOU WANT THE OWNERSHIP PAPERS OR NOT?", which is very concerning considering we had already paid in full and owned the vehicle.
We also wanted to get the second key (which was never found), Megha (the Manager and Paul's daughter) at times said they would compensate us for the second key and then would switch and state that, no they would not provide another key and would not compensate us (again, shady business practices).
We continue to have issues with the car (today we had enough after my partner was stranded on the side of a highway in the cold of winter because the car began to smoke uncontrollably). We called Paul and again, no help. We've decided between ourselves that we should stop dealing with these people because they are obviously not ethical in the least. We informed them we would be connecting with legal counsel and they told us to do whatever. We will be taking our car to a reputable mechanic and will most likely have to pay for some very expensive replacement parts. But we rather do that and deal with a lawyer than deal with Paul or Megha again. I truly hope this review stops just one person from going to GB Autos. It is a complete scam, sadly, and I wouldn't want anyone else to have the experience we did. read more
