Brought in my 22k gold and .51ct diamond ring along with two other 14k rings three days ago just to see what they might be worth. One of the owners of the store looked at the three rings I brought, instantly talking my items down as if I walked into his store with a bag of trash. He looked and "tested" the gold and diamond ring telling me " I don't think it's real at all, the other two rings he said " aren't worth much and out dated in style his offer was $65 for a 7.42 gram 14k ring what a joke! DON'T sell or buy from these Clowns they will try to rob you blind ,a very dishonest business. Took my rings to portland today the diamond ring is real and valued at $3200. The workmanship of the jewelers in GB is exquisite. I've been collecting pieces for years and have had experiences with high end jewelers from larger urban areas - San Francisco, Portland, LA, Seattle - and I would still rate GB the best of them all. They are known for their custom designs and to own one is special. Last year I talked with them about designing a ring for me. I wanted something different than one usually sees in gentlemen's rings. I knew I didn't want something massive. No diamonds (men should not wear them. period) No onyx etc..etc. I knew what I didn't want. I just wasn't sure how to get what I did want. After taking some time to play with ideas we picked a blue sapphire, oval cut stone, decided on a combination of white and red gold and the result was a one of a kind red, white and blue ring that features hand fashioned red gold insets in a white gold base designed to compliment the shape of the stone. The end product is subtle and still has some weight in 18 karat gold. I'm very happy to own this and it is something that will last for generations. The best part was the surprisingly affordable price at a time when rare stones are quite expensive and gold is through the ceiling. My wife and I took some gold items to have identified and possibly sell. At first we were treated cordially by the staff who took our items to test and appraise. After a 10 minute wait were told by the staff a little more about the gold and we were told that the stone on one of the rings was a diamond. We were asked if we wanted to sell the diamond. We said we were interested in selling it. But after another 15 minute wait one of the owners (I presume) came over to us handed all of our items back said that the ring was a fake and he didn't want to buy anything from people like us! We were humiliated, treated like common criminals, and made to feel unwelcome in his store! Don't worry. You will NEVER have my business again! ***UPDATE*** We sent the ring for independent analysis where the diamond was proven to be real ... We sent the ring to a buyer in Illinois who bought it for $1150.00. It would have been nice to have someone local to go to but I prefer trustworthy over proximity. read more

We broke up.I called them and asked if they would put it on consignment.They refused,Said they would give me scrap price.I was so mad ..Never will do business with them again.So I had my brother take to a jeweler who he knows well.He told him retail at the most $1200 .. Brought in my grandmother's wedding ring to be resized after she passed away. I was charged double what I was quoted at other jewelers but I decided to go ahead with it because I hated the idea of the other jewelers sending it out of town to be resized. I didn't want it to be lost in the mail so I went ahead with GB Jewelers because they do all their work in town which is wonderful. The woman who helped me really was what turned me off to ever bringing my business back to GB Jewelers. She critiqued my fingers which was strange but what really got me was when she told me that my ring could be fake because in the 1940's my grandfather probably couldn't afford real diamonds. Which could be true and I totally get that but it's not about real or fake. That ring is the symbol of love my grandfather gave to my mother.It was not what she said but how she said it all. I love a good family run, small town business but customer service really failed me. Being charged twice what the other jewelers were asking and then being genuinely insulted has made me take my business elsewhere from now on. You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. read more
