Been going to the Cedar/Nees location until they transitioned to the newer Champlain location. My experiences have been good during those times but when the pandemic happened, I ended up freezing my membership on 3/2020. Fast forward to 12/2025, I finally went in an unfroze my account. There were quite a few noticible changes since then: There are now more squat racks (vs just the 3 at the time), there are also more cardio machines and the daycare was also closed when they reopened. There are also sanitation stations throughout the gym too (which is an A in my book) however it also seems that there are now more new members. I'm so glad to be back after all these years of putting it off. I've lost some strength since then but I'll probably gain some of it back probably after a month in. Pro Tip: This place is at its busiest on weekdays starting around 3pm until 8pm. Late Fridays and the weekends are the least busiest. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but after my experience with Sean Clinton, I had to say something. Let me start by giving credit where it's due: the other employees here are genuinely kind and did their jobs well. But Sean? He's the manager. And I am absolutely baffled that someone with this little people skills is in charge of anything involving human interaction. Sean has what I can only describe as angry short white man syndrome, and I don't say that lightly. The man was on an incredible power trip from the moment we interacted with him. I have never met someone who radiates that much unexplained hostility. He was huffing, puffing, and looked like he was about to blow the whole house down. His face was red and was literally shaking from anger because his "ego" cannot admit that he was clearly in the wrong, and it was almost funny. My friend and I stayed completely calm and polite the entire time, which seemed to make him even angrier. Watching a "grown" man have a full emotional meltdown over a normal customer interaction was genuinely pathetic and sad. I genuinely mean this, Sean Clinton does not deserve to be around people, let alone manage a team. If you're the type of manager who turns red and shakes because a customer speaks to you calmly, you are not fit to be in customer service. To Sean, if you ever read this: take a deep breath. Maybe a vacation. Or therapy. Something. It is not our fault that you are only three apples tall. read more

This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Despite canceling, they still charged me for the next month and failed to provide a consistent timeline for the cancellation process. The last representative I spoke with in the corporate office told me to simply read the contract I signed over ten years ago, which states they have the right to continue billing. When I canceled, they took my cards, and I moved out of the area. I am now paying for two additional months even though I cannot use the service, as I live three hours away from the nearest location. 9/14/25 I want to update the review two reasons. 1) the young blonde lady this morning was extraordinarily cordial and it was both refreshing and unexpected... so thank you for that. 2) the manager assisted in helping me work with a difficult patron who called my wife the b-word. His arguments were related to her time spent on a machine that was relevant to him but not standard time (the one on our watches and the clock on the wall) and other irrelevant info. Pros: Honestly an awesome gym as far as the building, equipment, classes, pool/spas, and lockerooms go. The equipment is pretty extensive. The front staff are generally nice. It's not a terrible price for all of the access you get from across the whole facility (with no upcharge for classes/pools/sauna), which is massive and still easy to navigate. There are also vending machines with various sports drinks and protein bars. It's literally everything you need in one building! Everything is usually pretty clean, and there are constantly employees walking around cleaning the locker rooms and other areas. AND it is ALWAYS cool inside, which is essential. Cons: It's a bummer that they shut down the child care services post-covid, because of it were open, that would be at the top of the pros list. There are signs literally everywhere that threaten a cancellation of your membership for various bizarre reasons. Biggest complaint is that the public music can be raunchy, and the gym doesn't adhere to any rules regarding dress code, so men and women alike walk around shirtless... Oh my goodness this place went downhill. This used to be my husband and my favorite gym before we moved out of town. We bought day passes for today and essentially paid $20 to be hugely dissatisfied. So much equipment is broken. Benches are missing seats, equipment is out of order and many things are out of service due to reupholstering needs. We disputed the charges with our credit card company, and now we have dings on our credit saying that the dispute was after services are provided. I am from Herndon and milburn but I come here every Thursday for the yoga class at 630! The instructors name is Tracy, she is very warm and friendly and a brilliant instructor making sure to correct form and produce a flow out of the class. 10 out of 10 recommend everyone try this, I always leave here feeling refreshed and like my hips and lower back are unlocked so to speak. There is also really great cleaners cleaning around while others are working out. Making it cleaner! Today I did lower body and all of the machines I used were clean. Plus you are suppose to clean up after you use it. They have a huge middle row of great cardio machines including my man Shazam that gave me a good workout! On each side of that are weight machines along with two other rooms. One where they have the TRX bars to use. The other has spin bikes and it's a place where you can do other workouts and sit-ups, etc. they also have sit up machines right out of the door there. They have music playing, but of course you can bring your own. Very clean bathrooms too! Great service and very clean great gym! Highly recommended! Glad it was better going this time! read more

By far the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. True story. It felt like a scene out of the show Undercover Boss. I approached the front desk and they directed me to an office area to the left and advised someone would come to help. Enter a man named Shawn. From the very beginning he brought an attitude of "what do you want?" mixed with "what are you doing here?" I told him I was in between choosing GB3 & Fort Washington. I had toured the facility a few weeks prior and was told about their new member special regarding cancellation with another gym. This would waive the $100 registration fee. I posed the question in the event of buyers remorse. If I joined Fort Washington (which seemed a better pace as this location is really busy) and found it to be not a good fit after all, I wanted to know what documentation would I need to provide to receive the registration fee waiver and transfer to GB3. He told me very sternly "If you join another gym we'll see you in a year" which is a detail that my tour guide failed to mention. He proceeded to treat me like some criminal by saying "we don't play those games here" and "No short term cancellations" Feeling disrespected, judged, and misunderstood I gave Shawn one more chance. I pushed the cancellation inquiry aside, and asked him to explain the rates for GB3 memberships. He then pointed to his computer screen and in a very condescending voice started adding the numbers together saying "39 plus 39 equals 78 you see?" At this point I had made my choice - Fort Washington here we come. It's a real shame that this business lost revenue due to this individual and the chance to bring about a difference in someone's life. I felt it necessary to share my experience in order to spare others from the wrath of a horrible memory. Also, if this is how I'm treated signing up, I'm wondering how I'll be treated going forward? I decided to check this location out on a Saturday morning. The layout is a little different than the Milburn and Palm locations. When you enter, to the left is the childcare and locker rooms straight ahead are the cardio machines and offset to the left are the weight machines for arms and upper body. To the right is the mini gym room that has some cables, sone free weights and kettlebells, and some cross fit equipment like the 1/2 tire flip and punching bags. There is also the studio for fitness classes and where you will find yoga mats, foam rollers, Swiss balls and step benches. Then there is the free weights area. There are 4 squat racks and 2 smith machines. There are 3 benches for bench pressing, 2 incline benches and 1 decline bench press. The equipment is in excellent condition and sleek black looking unlike the other locations that have yellow benches and seats. The weight plates are UMAX and not the old school metal black ones. The dumbbells are also branded with "GB3" on them. What really impressed me was that the free weights are all organized and put back exactly as they should be. Props to the clean up crew there because my regular location is a hot mess. This gym is a little too far for me to want to train in on the daily but if you are close by, I highly recommend choosing this location. read more

The staff at this location are some of the rudest employees I've ever encountered. I was checking in today and right as I held my phone out to scan, this girl grabbed the scanner right in front of me and stared at me with an ugly, smug look. I mean I knew GB3 didn't have high standards, let alone any standards for staff, but this was irritating to say the least. At least invest in people who don't look miserable to exist. read more

The gym is great but customer service is terrible. Our entire family has a membership and my cousin was visiting for a few days. So he bought a day pass and specifically asked if it was valid for the entire day or just for one workout session and was told a day pass is valid the entire day. He specially made sure he could come back later for a night workout and was told it would be ok. However when he tried, the manager was not only extremely rude but did not uphold what we were told earlier. He said that because the gym was busy, he could not let him in even though he had a day pass. The manager basically said the opposite of what the employee told us this morning. My stepmom passed away and my dad needed to sell the house and move to assisted-living down in Orange County where I'm from. I belong to LA fitness in Orange County but there is no LA fitness in Fresno. GB3 was kind enough to let me join for two months while I was up here taking care of things. The gym itself is great. It's clean, it is well laid out and has great equipment. All that said, every gym has a culture. Where I come from 90% of the people re-rack their weights when they're finished. Those who don't, we mock as having had their moms clean their bedrooms for them their whole lives. For some reason, the GB3 culture is that virtually no one ever re-racks their weights, ever. They will spend 10 minutes wiping down equipment before using it but leave hundreds of pounds of plates behind. It's almost comical. In The two months I worked out here, I saw 2 other people besides myself actually re-rack the weights they were using. Maybe it's Fresno generally or maybe it's just GB3. I have no idea. But be sure to include unloading the equipment before you use it as part of your work out. One thing I will say is that all the reviews commenting on the unfriendliness of the GB3 employees do not match my experience. I found everybody there to be quite friendly. I gave the gym 3 stars because of a few really friendly people who work there (Cedar & Champlain). They deserve 5 stars. Aside from these employees, though, I'm seriously thinking about leaving the gym even though it's within walking distance from my house. The problem is what you've read in other reviews: the place is swarming with teenagers and 20-somethings who aren't there to work out. It's sad because the facilities are great. Here's an idea: now that the childcare area has been shut down, why not turn that area into a socializing room for everyone under 18 and those who crave their company? I've been going to gb3 for 4 years now and I never had any problems with this place but since I moved close to the champlain location and I start dealing with this guy names sean Like really how is he even a manager. He is last person that knows how to talk to people, this guy shouldn't be in a nice place like gb3. Even my friend that works at BMW told me that whenever he brings his car there all the employees feel terrible for seeing him no want to deal with him because he have issues In talking to people he really doesn't know how talk. Went in the first day of re- opening. Masks were required for entry but not required at stations or on treadmills. Bliss. Then, the very next day, (after yet another glowering greeting by a stoic faced employee). The mask police were out. In the middle of a 15-minute run on my treadmill I was approached by a employee who told me "very vocally"to put my mask on. I was already distanced from others by every other machine. Wipes @ my station. I had my mask around my chin because I was breathing hard and feeling light headed because of it . I told her no, I would pass out she said I had to anyway. They'd already cut down to 10% capacity, sanitizing wipes every 20 ft Honestly far less risk than than sitting down in a restaurant. No one around me. Ridiculousness I hope they stop enforcing this. It went from masks recommended to masks at all times in one day. You can't work out anymore comfortably. You cant run or exercise outside due to heavy smoke from fires, now you cant do it inside either. Ill likely cancel my membership after 10 years. Most employees are consistantly rude and dismissive. This gym is great. You get what you pay for. But my gripe is with some of the douchebaggery that occurs here, but I suppose it comes with the territory. Please learn about gym etiquette. This is from Lifefitness Gym: Gym etiquette 101. Ten rules for not being 'that' person in the gym. 1. Always ask. If someone is using a machine or piece of equipment and you need something nearby, ask if you can. Don't walk up and grab a weight plate from the rack when someone is squatting. Besides being extremely rude, it can be dangerous: you might knock the person squatting or bench pressing while they're under a heavy weight, which could be disastrous. 2. Put your weights back. This should go without saying but it's the number one rule broken in the gym. For extra points, if you found a weight somewhere it shouldn't have been, put it back where itshould have been. Related to this, don't leave your weights on the ground. Again, it's rude as well as dangerous -- ever tripped on a lazy 50 kilo dumbbell lying in the middle of the floor? -- and makes you look like a giant tool. If you can pick it up, you can put it back. Similarly, don't leave machines loaded up with hundreds of kilos of weight. So you can leg press 500 kg? Great! Don't leave it on the machine so that someone weighing one tenth of that has to unrack it just because you're inconsiderate. 3. Keep the equipment where it belongs. Have you ever walked into the weights area of a gym only to see a sit-up bench blocking the dumbbells? That's a big no no. To wit: Don't drag a bench onto the deadlift platform Don't leave plyometric boxes in the squat racks. Don't try to deadlift in front of the dumbbell racks. Don't try to do any weightlifting movements anywhere except the deadlift platforms or another designated area. 4. Be mindful of your surroundings. Gyms can be dangerous places if you're not alert. On busy times of day in particular, you have to be super-mindful of the other patrons; don't start doing dumbbell kickbacks without checking behind you, for example. Also, sometimes poorly laid out gyms have machines with their plate-loaded arms swinging out into a thoroughfare and if you're not looking where you're going, you might be in for a headache. If you want to be a real champion, look out for your fellow gym-goers and help them out if you see them struggling; maybe offer to spot them. 5. Bring a towel. Use it. Gyms can be some of the most germ-ridden places you can go. One study found that 63 per cent of gym equipment showed the presence of rhinovirus (which causes the common cold), with weight training equipment more affected than cardio machines. Viruses love nonporous surfaces such as steel weights in particular. So, for both your own sake and the sake of other patrons, use that towel. 6. Clean up after yourself (and, if you have to, other patrons). Related to the previous point, if you still manage to sweat through your towel or for some other reason leave sweat on a piece of equipment, grab some paper towel and disinfectant spray (hopefully your gym has some around -- if not, hassle them about it) to do your fellow gym-goers a solid. And if you happen to approach a bench of piece of equipment that has some gross droplets of on it already, it won't kill you to wipe them up yourself. (Though, shame on that other gym rat for being so disgusting.) 7. Selfies: Try to be discreet about them. Look, we know you want to take them and you should be able to. If nothing else, they're a good way to track your progress. But there are limits. Keep it to the change rooms or on less busy days when you're not getting in the way of other patrons. The general rule of thumb here is: do what you want -- just don't infringe on anyone else's gym experience. 8. Personal space: respect it. Can't get to a bench on Monday night? Too bad. Don't stand 20 cm away from the person who has one, ready to pounce. Aside from being dangerous for both you and the other person, we all know it's not the most comfortable feeling to try and blast out some biceps curls while there's a guy less than a metre away attempting power cleans. 9. Don't hog the equipment. While this is obviously subject to the time of day, staying at one station for half an hour when other people want to use it is not on. If you're occupying a popular piece of equipment at a popular time of day, don't sit there on your phone checking Instagram, oblivious to the waiting queue. Everybody needs to squat -- don't monopolise the rack if it's 6.00PM on a Thursday night. 10. Avoid the chitchat. The gym is a place of solace for many people and, although it can be a great social setting, try to keep the gossip to a minimum. Two star gym with stable popularity so they don't do much to keep their customer service at a high level. This location isn't as clean as others, it's messy, weights are all over the place, and then some. About a week ago, I had my yoga mat stolen from me while I was on the treadmill and had my back to it. Lesson learned to never place a personal item on the floor. Ugly feeling that people who steal are members there. When I let the staff know, they were not helpful at all. I wrote my info down for the manager to check the cameras and call me. A few weeks ago a had a guy who was following me around the class I was taking. I caught him secretly filming me. When I made one of the instructors aware he grabbed his things and left class 15 min early. I brought this to the attention of the front desk guys and they seemed annoyed I even mentioned this. They took my info I was expecting a call from management but nothing. I went again to the front desk asked them to look at the footage and the watched 30 min of him following me shows me on camera pointing at his camera. They took screen shots said they would show their manager on Monday no call again. Saw the manager today and I asked him if he ever was told about my complaint and why he hadn't called me. He again seemed super agitated that I was even talking to him. He even put a finger up to pause me to answer the phone because what I was saying wasn't important to him. Tldr: fine unless you wanna use the locker room/shower. Sure the facility is huge. But a huge chunk of that is treadmills and ellipticals. If that's your thing then cool. Knock yourself out. I mean, all the weight equipment they have is solid. They have like 4 squat racks, 4 benches. All the free weights ever. But here's the deal, their locker rooms and showers are.. not great. The showers are dirty, the water pressure may as well be just sort of dripping out. If you're going to use their shower, PLEASE WEAR FLIPFLOPS. and also, they won't even provide towels, even if you're paying your monthly membership. The lockers themselves are also just dirty, usually with a random towel or single article of clothing just sitting there. I dunno, overall if you're just looking to workout and leave, this is probably fine. But if u need to use the showers at all, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. read more

If you want to get anything done this isn't the place. The amount of people who sit in equipment on their phones for 90% of the time vs actually working out is on another level. Even the lap pool is a nightmare to get anything done. Kids either screwing around, the local euro mafia using it as a bath house to have group discussions or people using the swim lanes to walk back and forth is nauseating.
