We went to the showroom and were greeted by Aaliyah who explained the inventory and helped us to make a selection. Once we submitted a drawing of the top to be produced it took 4 days to have the finished countertop ready. It was small and the shop guys loaded it in the pickup for us. We had our counter tops replaced by Onyx Creatiins. Roger (owner), gave us a contract, but it did…read morenot say how long the work would take. During the initial install, he tried to pass of a piece of cracked granite that they glued together like a puzzle, and it also had some clouding in it. He told me his son could get the clouding out, but then said he would just replace it. After several visits to our house, and numerous mistakes on their part, I finally told him not to return. We had gone 2 months with a non-functioning kitchen because they kept having to correct something and we couldn't settle into it. Mistakes include, but are not limited to...faucet on island sink is not centered, grout line from tile backsplash to countertop is uneven due to multiple install attempts, and not removing the entire backsplash, dishwasher is no longer functional because the countertop is compressing it, they cut into our built-in cabinet for the oven and microwave because the last installer thought that would be better than trimming the granite, and poor workmanship on the backsplash install, because after the initial (excellent) work done by a man and his nephew-Roger decided they needed to give one of his relatives a chance to learn tile work, but he clearly had more attitude than skill. We sent notarized letters to Roger-Onyx Creations, but they were returned to us. The letters were to offer him one last chance to get the work right within a set time frame. I can't say it's a surprise to me though and judging by the lies and poor workmanship, I'm not too keen on letting him back in home anyway.

After listen carefully to what we wanted done, David gave us a bid for the complete project. We talk to David about ways we could cut cost by doing some of the work our self. He worked with us until we got the cost within our budget. David and Nate showed up on Monday a.m. and started the demolition and removal of the cabinets in the kitchen. From all the other bids we did received, David and his brother where the only one who said they thought that they could salvage some of, to all the cabinets in the old kitchen. After three hours, they finished the demolition to the kitchen down to the bare walls and cleaned up the debris. They were able to save all the cabinets for use in the garage. The next day David and his brother returned to install the Ikea cabinets we had purchased. They noticed one of the cabinet needed to be modified in order to work in the kitchen we had planned. After explaining what needed to be done, getting an o.k. check with us first, they did such a great job you could not tell that the cabinet was modified. The cost for the extra work was very reasonable and hardly added to the original bid. After the cabinets were installed, we had a granite company measure for the counter tops. The granite person said in all his years of installing countertops this was the first time he had seen cabinets that were complete level in all directions. After a few days in our new kitchen, we decided we wanted to change three of the wall cabinets They came back and made the changes at a very reasonable cost. They did such a great job of doing this that no one has ever realized that the cabinet been changed. In addition to the cabinetry, they did a nice job with the backsplash as well. After all work was finished, the kitchen looks as if it cost three times what it really did.
