The greens and fairways are very well manicured. The rough are cut right, not too long but distinct from the fairway and out of bounds areas and everyone rakes the sand traps and fills divots so you're getting a premium game experience. The carts are clean and the seats on them are very cushioned and like new, drove smooth and had a great time. It is a true 4 hour course and plays fast, even some of their longer and "crazy" obstacle like courses too. The pro shop was helpful and gave us a quick brief explanation before we headed out which was nice. My only downside was part of the back nine people are criss crossing onto each others fairways because of the layout of each tee facing each other for about 3-4 holes so things got a bit jammed up and chaotic looking with multiple groups in each others fairways shooting their balls. Its proximity to the beach also had quite a gust of wind and breezes throughout our game, could be a good thing or a bad thing depending. read more

We came here in June 2022 - weather was perfect, wisps of the typical marine layer about. Pro shop staff professional and friendly. My golf game is 'not very good', but our party had a great time here. Pace was decent, greens in fabulous shape. I'd call it a fairly forgiving course, as no stands of trees or heavy brush to lose your ball in. Only complaint I thought the green fees were a little high. I'm glad vendors from out of town bought the round. Also, could stand some better signage on how to find the restaurant (I think we tried like 4 different doors trying to figure out how to get there, but the restaurant is not part of the review) I'm sure proper golf attire is appreciated, as we were. read more

Not an easy course for new to weekend players. Links indeed. Narrow fairways, placement golf, but well maintained. Spendy for sure.

We enjoyed a very nice lunch at the clubhouse dinning room. The service was very good, and the sandwiches were tasty.

I have played at private clubs throughout the US and played every major course in Scotland and Ireland. Gearhart combines the best of all of those places. Course conditions and pace of play were amazing. I can't wait to come back! read more

For all those people that have written low reviews I must disagree. Price high,yes I agree, but I don't think any course such as Langdon farm, pumpkin ridge or the reserve are worth what they charge. The greens I thought were very nice , but very tough to play. As for the statement about construction I saw none,and for the size of greens being small, where have you been playing your golf at? I can't afford that price all the time , but for a once a year trip to Seaside I will be happy to play this course again. Lastly I want to say all the people I met at the course were very cordial and polite. read more

I wouldn't recommend this course at least not right now. I have been coming here annually with a group every year for over 5 years and it is generally one of my favorites. This year was a disappointment. There is a lot of construction going on adjacent to the course and there are areas on the course that need improvement. Additionally, the green fees are too high for a course of this quality, especially given the construction. read more

Played here for the first time today and left with mixed feelings To start, the green fees are rediculous. $75 to play 18 with cart is absolutely too much in my opinion. The course itself is decent but the conditions, layout, character and overall experience do not match the price of admission. It should be in the $40 range to play and feel like you're not getting ripped off. The employee working in the pro shop left much to be desired in terms of service and friendliness. He is the short guy and a little strange attitude to say the least. He was also smoking outside the pro shop and very unprofessional. I was not impressed today and will not play here again. I suggest Highlands course which is 5 minutes away, $17 to play unlimited twilight and significantly better holes. read more

First time playing here. Links course with more elk shit than I have ever seen on a course . Greens are slower than Grandma crossing the street. Drinks way over priced. Probably the roughest corse I have been on. Established 18 ott something. Lot of yardage for you power drivers. Price is average to above. Play it once to say you have been there. read more

This is a fun course, different layout than most. The greens are very good condition and very consistent. Though they are SMALL. The back 9 has very few flat landing areas so pick your spots well or just get used to uneven lies. It's forgiven off almost every tee, but that does not make it easy. I do question though a rate of $65, as an early bird weekday round. And that is to WALK it. It's a good course and good condition, but I think they are taking advantage of the vacationers amd being the only legitimate course in the immediate area. But oh well, I've played it on two vacations now and will play it again. read more

Played here on the hottest day on record in the region. It was 80 degrees at 8:30 AM and got close to 96 degrees when done. The personnel who worked here were outstanding in trying to make everyone comfortable. Would be 4 stars but price and slow play caused the 3 star rating. First, we paid $103 with a coupon for golf and cart. Overpriced? Yes, but we knew going in the price and understand that demand dictates price. Heck the course was sold out so they can get whatever price they want. Second, price wasn't as bad as slow play. They did a good job of not starting us until the group ahead was almost off the green on the first hole but we were already backed up by the third hole. It was brutal on a hot day. Course marshal was needed but what are you going to tell people that paid $120 to play. Looking for balls for 10 minutes, lining up putts for another 10 minutes and other annoying things just doesn't fly in my book. Also, what the hell are you playing from the black or furthest tees when every shot we saw was either in the rough or out of bounds. A lot of players and I mean a lot need lessons on ready paced golf. The course was a short, wonderful track with excellent greens. A premium is needed for accurate tee and second shots. It was a very fun layout and in great condition for a beach course. I enjoyed it a lot when I wasn't overheating in the cart waiting to hit from slow play. I would recommend this course to anyone knowing what price you will be playing. Also, I would probably shoot out early AM so the round is 4 hours or less. Finally, I give courses a pass due to Covid but not having the snack shack open, a beverage cart stationed on the 10th tee or something is not good. Let's all hope that is behind us soon. read more

A lot of trees have been removed, but the trees never were a factor. When we played last week there was no wind. With wind it could be a links course. There are some challenging holes, especially on the back nine, especially the #18 green approach shot. Mark Twain would find this course a nice walk. The staff was friendly, but I agree with the other reviews $65 is too high when you are walking. So the solution for me is to play in the off season. read more

What a treat! True links golf less than 90 minutes from Portland! I hadn't been there for a while. What a surprise! Course in great shape, bunkers with ocean sand and fun to play from, challenging greens and tees for all skill levels. All the construction I read about seems to be completed and they even have really fun putting green ! (Think Punchbowl if you have been to Bandon!) If you have not been there lately, go! Friendly staff in the clubhouse, great food and even a new hotel. Enjoy a great day. read more

This is a fun little golf course with one big drawback - in the summer it is way overpriced. It is a short-ish course with a very easy front nine and a fun, quirky (in a good way) back nine. It is an easy course to walk and the greens are kept in reasonably good condition. The greens are very soft, but in this case, that isn't such a bad thing as they are also very small. I sort of play my own tee's on this course - the stones on all but number 11 and, if it is wet, number 18 (I usually play the black tees on those two holes as the stones stretch them to absurd lengths). read more

Oh Gearhart Where to start? Perhaps it's the friendly staff that walks you to the first tee giving advice and encouragement. Or rather it's the sight lines, green fairways, purple/yellow fanned fescue, and true greens. Maybe it's the mist, breeze/gale, and sunshine you can likely encounter in one walk around the course. The birdies can pile up on the front, but you must hold on tight on the back to get that decent score. Even the pot bunker bar is cozy and full of characters with bawdy tales of exploits outside the world of golf. It is purported to be the oldest course in the west and for the only 18 hole public experience like it on the north coast, it is well worth every penny. read more
