    Hole nine
    Kelsie V.

I play here everytime I visit this part of the Ocean. It is such a cute, quaint place to play. To walk nine takes some doing there are some small hills to climb. I arrived on a Tuesday mid-day and just approached the shop to see if I could get on for nine holes. It seemed pretty open, so I got on and started play immediately. It was $28.50 for nine holes walking and a 16z IPA in a can. I enjoyed my walk and round. I played quite well and the temperature was very warm for the coast. Service and hospitality were nice. They seem to have updated their logo or branding. It is now a cute Pelican figure. Golf shop was nice, too. I considered buying a souvenir, but forgot. At the end of my round I wasn't in a rush and wanted to drink my beer and watch the people tee off on the first tee. There is a cute little deck out front. I asked the Pro if I brought my own chair, if I could sit out there? He said yes, then said no, there were some chairs below that I could sit in - they were all the way down out of sight and I wanted to watch golf, so I sat on the bench immediately behind the first tee box. I felt a little strange being so close to the golfers teeing off (like would that bother them concentrating?). But it was a great vantage point for people watching. Cute big family later teed off, the little ones were adorable and had some good talent off the first tee. What a great way to spend a day. Course is decent with some dry spots. I liked the differing holes and drops and rises. Putting surface was good, too. Got a little lost walking from hole 8 to 9, but just kept heading on paved path and 9th tee is to the right. I saw no wildlife. My time of tee off was perfect as there were a couple sets of dudes following me, no one ahead of me.

    Beautiful tee off.

And honestly, with how much Seaside has grown, I'm amazed it's still standing. Land like that near the coast? Very valuable. Very tempting for developers. You look around and think, "How is this not already a row of condominiums and mega homes?" But thankfully, it's still here. Now look, is it perfect? No. The course shows its age. There are some cracks, some rough edges, and sure the clubhouse could use an upgrade. I'd love to see someone put serious money into it. A beautiful clubhouse, some improvements, really polish it up. Because the truth is, this place is a diamond in the rough. What people don't seem to understand in some of these reviews is what this course actually is. They come in, criticize everything, pick it apart and half of them probably don't even know the history of Seaside. This isn't some brand-new luxury resort course. It's something better in its own way: a nostalgic, classic local course where you can actually afford to play. The staff? Friendly. The value? Very good. And let's be honest being able to hit a round of golf right in Seaside is pretty special. Not every coastal town keeps something like this around once development starts rolling in. My biggest hope is that someone smart sees the potential here. Invest a little, upgrade it, polish it up like flipping a house, but for a golf course. Because if the wrong people get it, this could easily turn into another strip of condos and kiddie attractions, and the history would disappear overnight. So I'm giving it four stars. Not five, because yes it needs some upgrades. But for the history, the value, and the simple fact that a course like this still exists in Seaside... that's something worth appreciating. And frankly, we need more places like it, not fewer.

The carts are clean and the seats on them are very cushioned and like new, drove smooth and had a great time. It is a true 4 hour course and plays fast, even some of their longer and "crazy" obstacle like courses too. The pro shop was helpful and gave us a quick brief explanation before we headed out which was nice. My only downside was part of the back nine people are criss crossing onto each others fairways because of the layout of each tee facing each other for about 3-4 holes so things got a bit jammed up and chaotic looking with multiple groups in each others fairways shooting their balls. Its proximity to the beach also had quite a gust of wind and breezes throughout our game, could be a good thing or a bad thing depending.

My golf game is 'not very good', but our party had a great time here. Pace was decent, greens in fabulous shape. I'd call it a fairly forgiving course, as no stands of trees or heavy brush to lose your ball in. Only complaint I thought the green fees were a little high. I'm glad vendors from out of town bought the round. Also, could stand some better signage on how to find the restaurant (I think we tried like 4 different doors trying to figure out how to get there, but the restaurant is not part of the review) I'm sure proper golf attire is appreciated, as we were.

The driving range has mats, arti turf, or you can step down to swat from the trimmed grass. Lovely little 9-hole golf course, super affordable green-fees ($25 for 9); carts are $16. I'd say these are the best greens for miles around (comparable to prestigious Gearhart Golf Links) For us, as beginners, its challenging enough, lots of stealthy sand traps, ponds. Not many dog-legs. You can usually find your balls in the out-of-bounds area, unless its someones yard, in which case, respect the property owners. Deer abound, birds singing and flying everywhere (in spring/summer at least). Well maintained fairways and greens - i did notice the greens suffer a bit in the late summer due to the drought, but they've brightened up nicely that the rains are back. Watch out for monster goathead bush on the back fairways, best to leave the ball than tangle with them. Dastardly 8th hole you must clear a water obstacle, be ready with spare balls if you suck like me! Couldnt find a friendlier proprietor/pro Jon K. I havent seen any signs up advertising lessons, I assume they offer it. Rental clubs available. Carts always clean and run good. Nice deli/sandwich shop inside the clubhouse, but their hours dont always match the pro shop so might call to check if you intend to eat there.
