The Food was gooooood ‍ my first time here. The service was excellent. And the Atmosphere was welcoming, peaceful, and friendly. I felt the love in this place like they appreciated us coming. After service table for 5 please and within 5 minutes of walking in the door they sat us. They just opened at 12 noon in this Sunday. Everything was hot out the oven. I couldn't eat what I really wanted because they use pork base grease, stock and bones in the food (I'm allergic to pork ‍) So, I got the chicken and waffles DELICIOUS. Had my wife pick up an order for me on her way home. I had the catfish and grits with a side of yams. Usually after a car ride, catfish can become a little rubbery, but this held up pretty well. The yams was yammin and the grits were smooth and creamy! Good amount of food for the money. Would probably be a little better if you could eat it there at the restaurant, but it still very good otherwise. Would definitely go back next time I catch them open. read more

I had a fine bowl of grits with yummy shrimp, but the best part was the three big ole pieces of catfish just packed with those good spices. Everybody had some fried chicken which were those yummy drummettes which took my tastebuds right back to the fellowship hall. I came here because it got high marks here on Yelp!, And they didn't disappoint. I got there right when they opened for lunch on a Friday, so obviously it wasn't busy. The gentleman who waited on me (I think he might be the owner) for a chef's smock, and that coupled with the decor made the atmosphere very nice. The sweet tea was the best I've had yet in Texas in three years, and the food was wonderful. Then a reason I didn't give it a full five stars is because even though they weren't busy, he managed to forget the requested ketchup. When he remembered it, I didn't need it anymore. This Restauant was recommended to me. I am not too familiar with Southern Cooking, but this place is very popular ... they sold out of cobbler and brownies a few days ago when I was there! Good for them! I've been back a few times and there is always customers and beautiful and uplifting Christian music. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. It can also come as a salad embedded in a leaf of lettuce topped with tomatoes. It comes with a side of Sun Chips and grapes. This was the largest chicken salad sandwich I have ever eaten. There was so much filling that I had to take some of it off the sides! It was delicious as well! The chips tasted fresh and they were crispy. The grapes were very sweet. Just how I like them! I felt that I had more food than what I expected for the price. It was only $6.99. The owner offered to deliver to a nearby shop I was going to for free. I drive on Stan Schlueter a lot and I have never seen this restaurant. I wouldn't know it existed if it wasn't for my co worker. The location is hidden. I went for lunch around opening time. The restaurant is small and clean. The waitress was very friendly. The food did take a while to come out, which sucks if you're on your lunch break. However, I could tell everything was homemade. Way better these last two times. The food is actually authentic Southern food. It gives me a taste of home. It's so delicious and there's no way to express it without actually going to see it yourself. I recommend this place to anybody who wants a taste of southern wants a taste of Home. When we first got there it was about 1230 on Sunday afternoon. So I expected it to busy. They had one side open with about 10 tables. Most everyone looked like they were getting ready to leave. The waitress seemed a little overwhelmed and acted a little short with us. I have been here 4 times now. The food is great and tasty! Everything is fresh and Mr. Moore is super friendly and nice. However, all 4 times I had horrible customer service.. waiter seemed lost all the time. And the food takes a bit time... I understand because the food is always fresh and good except that one time when I had to wait over an hour. Atmosphere is okay but maybe the menu should be hung up on the wall on a dry erase board instead of having it in glass frames on each table or have an actual menu book. A can describe my entire experience in one word: SLOW. The service is painfully slow and they only have one server to cover the entire restaurant. Poor thing he was running ragged. When we had the opportunity to order our food. It took an additional 30 mins to get it. Then my meal in particular was lukewarm. That was rather disappointing. I had the fried catfish and chicken meal. I will say that the fish and chicken was seasoned very well. So for it to be damn near cold and still taste good. That was a magical feat to happen. Also, why are we eating in the dark? None of the lights were on. We were eating from the light coming through the windows. It's pretty obvious to your patrons that you are trying to save on electricity. But why at our expense? On a positive note, the place is really clean and the strawberry kiwi drink is really good. Really this rating deserves 2.5 stars. Because our server was pleasant, despite serving the entire restaurant by himself. My food still managed to taste good despite being lukewarm. If I could I would give this restaurant a zero star. This place is trash don't eat here. The first time I came to this place was on a random day during the week. It was recommended by a southern girl. When I arrived I was barely greeted. Upon placing my order with the only hostess/ waitress in the room--because that's how small this restaurant is. Well as I was waiting for my food to be prepare I was sitting in the 'to-go' area, I decided I would eat there. As I was to sitting at a table, a small brown man came out from the kitchen not even minutes later after this man returned to the kitchen. The hostess/waitress comes to tell me to move because the man said this area of for dine in only...now she is the one who took my order and never asked me if I wanted to dine in or to go. I became puzzled because I was the only person (customer) in the room. There was no one but me and the waitress. I asked could she have the man deliver my food when it's ready, because I was curious why me sitting at the table in a empty 'room' was a problem. Well she didn't wait for the food to ready before telling him. The man came out of the back only to tell mE that he doesn't want me dirtying you the tables! I couldn't believe it, because i couldn't understand the logic. I go on to tell him that the waitress never asked me how I wanted me food. He didn't care. He went on to tell me that I have to sit in the to-go area. The way he told me just felt insulting. So I told him I felt unwelcome. At this point he tells me that I should probably going head and leave then. Thank God I hadn't paid yet. It got worse he then follows me to the door and locks it behind me and they weren't closing for another 2 hours. I'm sorry for this man because obviously his problem is when the man in the mirror. But he just so happened wanted to pick on his own paying customer. I am sure he was the owner. I just couldn't understand that it would matter where I would sit in a room that was empty.. it was just me, aNd I actually wanted to dine in. Due to this treatment. Anytime I have a taste for fried chicken, geechies is my place of choice. I always get the fried chicken plate with 2 sides. The food is always hot and fresh (I order Togo and it stays hot even until I get home) Great pricing. Friendly staff. The only downfall, is sometimes they are closed during the hours of operations that's posted on the door. A couple months ago, it seemed as if every time I went there to order my food on the way home, thinking they were open, they would be closed. The hours on yelp say they close at 8:00 pm on Tuesday. I arrived at 6:15 and the doors were locked. A man inside gestured to the closed sign and I asked what their hours were. He opened the door and told me they closed at 6:00. I informed him about the hours published on yelp and he said they don't go by that. They clearly need to update this information. I've been in Killeen almost 4 months & today was my first time here. The service was great & quick, about 10 minutes or so. I ordered the big fish with no tarter sauce (comes with fries), side of yams & a side of mac n cheese. I was slightly disappointed when I got home & there was tarter sauce on both buns but when I called the restaurant to advise, I was reassured a fresh sandwich would be ready when I came back. I live off Trimmier & Stan Schlueter so it's not too far but it was still an inconvenience. However, my sandwich & fries were fresh, well seasoned and very tasty.
