My charging port on my IPhone wasn't working and it needed to be properly cleaned out The employe there for the day was helpful till he took a tooth pick and cleaned it out next to the door to get light from the sun and plugged it in and said it's fine I said "what do I owe you" he said $45. I needed to replace the screen protector on my cellphone and they did it so well and professionally I still can't believe it! The man simply dropped the screen on the phone and tapped it with his finger, the air trapped underneath disappeared instantly. This takes practice! I suspected my laptop's noisy and intermittent fan needed replacement. I left it for them to diagnose. Next day, they had already found the fan was corroded and gave an estimate that was fair. (The fan is cheap but there's a lot of diassembly time required). I had previously asked around and elsewhere the charge would be the same or higher. Some, in fact, said they would not want the job in the first place. Geek Repair received the part a few days later and then did the repair fast. My laptop had no other issues and now the new fan is doing its job perfectly. The estimate was exactly right, and I'm also told they guarantee the laptop for a year. My call was not answered, minutes later i got a call back from a frustrated worker when i asked if they offer a service he said "yes you know we do we just talked on the phone" when i never have even talked to anyone in the establishment. instead of verifying who i was he just got upset. Never said sorry for the miscommunication and ended the call remaining rude. I dont suggest this place if your looking for customer service. After going to two other repair shops that gave me rediculous prices and nasty attitudes, I was lucky enough to speak with the owner first about pricing. Said in most cases, the phone is fine but a new screen or some such part will fix it just fine.....he was totally correct! Said it has a 90 day warranty as well! Since this place is owned by the same "Ben G" of iProdigy in Bellmore, and because they even tell you to go to their bellmore store, my below review of iprodigy contains helpful info to protect yourself from both places. This place may try to protect itself from your complaints! - here's how.... [*** The best thing about this review is that they can't dispute it without putting them in a bad spot! They can't say that they provided me detailed docs, because when you go there and drop off your phone and ask them for a detailed claim check/receipt, you will find they will not want to provide info that can later be used against them! But, if by chance they change their ways and start to provide detailed claim checks/receipts, well then that will just benefit you the customer :) ] IMPORTANT: Most people don't know that you can dispute a charge for a bad repair up to SIX months from the charge date (check with your credit card company). But in order to win a dispute, you need good documentation, which I will explain below. NOTE: You don't have to believe my experience, but please use the below info to protect yourself :) While I was there, I heard them asking a customer if they wanted a regular replacement screen, or the better Apple screen. But I don't think they are even an authorized apple repair center, so if they say they will use genuine apple parts, I would be skeptical, especially since a lot of other reviewers complain that their screen broke very easily after they first fixed it, and that they said they were going to use a genuine OEM screen on my phone, but they didn't. My phone needed a screen replaced. The person took the phone from me and asked me for my name and phone number, then then handed me the store's business card - No claim check with the make and model of my phone, description of the work I wanted done - nothing! That was a red flag and should have taken my phone back and walked out. It was only after I asked for formal documentation did they provide it. Second, I wanted the screen to be replaced with genuine OEM parts - meaning parts directly from the maker of the phone, not after market or third-party parts, so they charged me more for that. When I pick up the phone, they handed me a receipt and all it said was "Replaced screen on phone". It did not state that the replacement was an OEM part, and it didn't even state the make and model of my phone (red flag #2) A few months later, I started to notice scratches on the screen, indicating that this was not an OEM part from the phone maker - it was an after market screen that didn't have the gorilla glass protection on it! It was then I realized why they don't put things in writing - so you can't DISPUTE the credit card charge or sue them in small claims court! Because now I'm screwed - The little info on the receipt doesn't describe my phone's make or model or that they were suppose to use genuine OEM parts, so I wouldn't be able to prove anything to my credit card company or a small claims judge/mediator! So, my only advice is if you are desperate enough to use them to repair your phone, make sure your claim check has this info on it: - The make and model of your phone - The current condition of your phone (ie "everything works great (including camera, etc) - the ONLY problem is the screen is broken") This way if you get your phone back in worse shape you have documentation that it wasn't like that when you gave it to them. - The repair cost (so they can't say a different price when you pick it up) - A statement that they "Will use genuine Apple parts" - I bet you they will not want to put this in writing! - When will the repair be completed. This way if they dont fix the phone in the agreed time, you can get back your phone without any charge. And in the unlikely event they lose your phone, you can start a small claims suit after this date. - States the warranty details for the work they are doing *** IMPORTANT - Make a copy of the claim check because they will probably ask you for it back when you pick up your phone, and the new receipt will not have all the info on it that the claim check had on it (for example, the receipt won't have the phone's original condition before you had it repaired, so if you don't save a copy of the claim check, you won't be able to prove any new problems) Then when you pick up the phone, make sure the receipt says: - Make and model of the phone - What repairs were done - make sure this is detailed to help prove it was their repair that failed. - That they used "genuine apple (or samsung, etc) parts". This way if you ever find out they didn't (because you had to bring your phone to someone else because they did a bad job), then you can sue/dispute to get your money back for this repair. - States the SAME warranty details as was stated on the claim check The above info is what ANY reputable repair shop should be happy to provide. So if they resist for any of it, I would walk out. Good Luck read more
