I brought my Mac in because it wasn't opening. I wanted to back it up before my info disappeared. I was told that it was fried, so without asking my they put in a new hard drive. I was not happy losing all of my data. The new drive was really an old drive and I could only get my mail. I brought it back in and they supposedly fixed it, but they didn't. I don't know what system it is but it is old. I can't update anything so there is very little I can do except once again, get my mail. I wish I had gone to a Mac store, I've heard, after the fact of course, that they could get the data off the hard drive. Too late now. Now I need a new computer which I can't afford, plus I have no data to back up. I do not recommend them. read more

My MacBook Pro laptop screen broke and I was really anxious because I needed it for work. I'm so glad I found geeks in minutes because the repair work they did on my laptop was stellar. I was also a bit nervous about losing the high def/retina, but the new screen was perfect and maintained the high-def . The pricing was beyond reasonable, considering that this was a MacBook, and I feel it was very fair! The owner even took the time to warn me about this obtrusive program that was running on my computer, which was very kind. Also, their turnaround time was great, I had expected a week, but it was done faster. So attentive and took the time to call me and update me. I recently realized I'd not posted a review, so my apologies to anyone who has gone here unprepared. I had a 2009 MacBook Pro whose screen had gone dark. A light shined behind the cover showed that the machine was still working and the display was there, but something had happened to the illumination. I brought it to GIM, who kept it for a few days and then told me the issue was not worth repairing - something to do with logic, or motherboard, or one of those Big Deal things. I picked up the laptop, paid the fee, and planned to connect the everything-works-but-the-screen-illumination machine to an external display....only when I got home the machine wouldn't boot. Nothing. In addition, the edge around the screen casing was chipped and warped open as if a deranged meth addict thought my stash was in there and had had at it with a nearby butterknife. Someone had clearly tried to pry the screen open, and not very gently. I brought it back, showed the obviously damaged casing, and told them that the machine now wouldn't start at all. I got the Big Indifferent Shrug, and some BS about the machine's problem being that it was old. So basically they broke my machine completely and tried to geeksplain me into thinking the issue was my insistence in having such an untrendily outdated machine that happened to coincidentally stop working while there, and had nothing to do with the obvious abuse it had been subjected to. Unfriendly and no remorse whatsoever. You'd do better with a YouTube tutorial. read more

Don't go here, trust me, these guys don't care and are super rude. I took an iPhone there for a simple cracked screen, they insisted they only used apple parts before I agreed to have them fix it. The screen they put on is foggy and hard to see, I brought the phone back to the Verizon store and they confirmed the screen they used was junk and not even put on right. I went back to these guys hoping they would just fix it. They were rude to me and my 3 year old, insisted the phone looked fine and it was done right (every other person who looks at my phone asks what's wrong with the screen).... and wouldn't fix it Do not go to this shop... there is another computer and phone repair place on rt1 in Saugus that is much better and way more professional.. same price read more

I called this company because of these reviews on Yelp. I explained, in detail, my problem with my daughters 10" Lenovo Tablet, a broken charge port. The device would charge, but only if the wire was bent at an angle. So I figured the port needed replacement. The person I spoke to said that it would be no problem to fix and only take a few days after ordering the part. I drop the tablet off (and $60) and go on my merry way. After a week and a half, I call to check on the status of the repair and was told that they were still waiting for the part. Not two hours later, I receive a phone call stating the tablet was beyond repair and that there was a "cracked logic board". I go to pick up the tablet and was told by the person behind the counter that the port was removed and now the tablet was useless and the guy I handed this tablet off to was fired!!!! So, let me get this straight, you take my money, ruin my daughters tablet and then tell me "too bad, sorry"? Real Nice. No offer of refund or anything. So I take it home and (figuring I had nothing to lose) open the tablet up myself, guess what, no "cracked logic board". Just some shoddy soldering work that lifted the copper contacts right off the board. I managed to fix the damn thing myself with a cord cut and some more delicate work with a soldering iron. Tempted to go back there and show them a working tablet and demand my money back. EDIT: Nov. 27, 2018. Just received a phone call from owner, Ned. He genuinely sounded a bit horrified at the experience I had with one of his (now ex) employees. He is refunding my money and asked if I would consider perhaps another look. I just may after the holidays, I can't in conscience, doom the whole company for the acts of one employee. So I post this edit in the hopes that people may be just a tad more diligent in questioning the talent that will be working on your devices. I've also given 3 stars (up from one) just for the fact that the owner reached out and apologized (at length, I might add). If he can now fix the mess inside the tablet, that would certainly warrant 5 stars...............time will tell. read more

So I installed a home security system, a retail one, not professional, and I couldn't get it to work where I could see the cameras from my cell phone. I tried the support page, friends, no one could help. I called the 'geeks' and scheduled an appointment. They said they'd be at my house at 10:30 and, at 10:30 they showed. My geek tech John was professional, courteous, and knowledgable. As he was looking over my system he explained everything and why I couldn't get it to work. Within 15 minutes it worked. Thank you John!!! I highly recommend them, thought their pricing was very reasonable especially in light of how important this was to me. Dont bring your IPhone here for repair! I brought mine for simlple battery change, returned an hour later and was told that there was a lot more wrong with it besides needing a battery. There wasnt. My phone was working well prior to going to Geeks so I asked for it back and took it to Apple Store. They diagnosed it as an improper insertion of an incorrect battery, which caused major damage that had just been done by Geeks. The iPhone doesnt even turn on now. Apple could not fix it. Brought it back to Geeks, the guy working there today was rude and dismissive, actually turned his back on me and left the room. Geeks broke my phone and wont make good on it now. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE: I went to this business to repair the screen of both my iPad and iPhone. I really should have known when the first conversation I had with an employee was him telling me how online reviews (particularly yelp) where made up by (yelp) in order to charge the reviewed company a fee to have them removed. So on to the issues I experienced, I had to bring both my iPad and my iPhone back so many times that I honestly lost count. I experienced so many failures, crooked and loose home buttons, flickering screens, blemishes and spots on the screens (damaged backlight) and screens coming loose/falling off. The way I left with the company is an iPhone with a flickering screen which they won't replace for me even though their screen installation caused it and I was refunded for my iPad which no longer has a cracked screen but is now further damaged, with a broken back light which again THEY CAUSED and they refused to repair it. GEEKS IN WEEKS not only sounds better but is much more fitting as this took about 3 weeks I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND CHOOSING A DIFFERENT COMPANY ! read more

I took my Mac Pro there. It wouldn't boot. It took them from Thursday to next Tuesday to look at it. That's a lot of minutes! Diagnosis fee $80. Conclusion: bad disk, didn't even try to fix it. I paid $80, went home, booted from a cloned disk, loaded Disk Warrior v. 4.4, clicked on rebuild disk, waited ten minutes, clicked on OK in the success window, rebooted, and problem was solved in minutes. I was thinking taking it to the shop would save me time, because who knows, it could be anything, and I didn't want to start troubleshooting and potentially waste hours. The guy at the shop had no idea what Super Duper was, didn't use Disk Warrior, said he didn't like Macs... Nevertheless, he took the money, made a wrong diagnosis, and didn't want to give a refund after I told him how I fixed it. His boss gave me half of the money back after I complained. Still, getting back half of my money is not good enough. Update: owner called and apologized and I will be getting all the money back. read more

Excellent! I needed to have my daughter's IPAD Mini screen repaired dropped with a badly cracked screen and a dent on the edge of the unit.
