Someone else already used the term "miracle worker", so I'll have to come up with something else. I have a Chuwi HiPad 11 Plus. It is one of the few Android tablets with a 4 x 3 aspect ratio...just like an iPad and perfect for reading letter-size PDFs. I managed to mangle the charging port. (Note to self: If you're inserting a charging cable, at an angle, and it resists, don't keep pushing!) All the wires were bent, rendering it unrepairable. It would have to be replaced. I asked ChatGPT for places that might be able to replace it. I got a list and and went down them one-by-one. No luck. They couldn't get the part, etc. Michael's wasn't even on the list! One of the places that was on the list is Fix 'n' Repair in Watertown. They couldn't handle it, but "there's a computer repair place around the corner. Maybe they could do something.." That's what brought me to Michael's. Whoever was manning the store looked at it and pronounced: they could get the part, but there was a little ding in the bezel. He was concerned that the screen might crack. If I knew the risks, it would be $95. An unbranded 4 by 3 tablet would cost about $200. He thought I'd be better off with a new tablet. But, then, I'd have this "potentially" fixable tablet sitting around mocking me. I left, leaning towards a new tablet. But, the next day I went back with a proposition: Don't order any parts. Try removing the screen. If it cracked, I'd pay whatever he thought was fair. If it didn't, we'd proceed with the repair. It didn't, but there was one small spot on the left edge that showed up blue on a black screen. It wasn't noticeable on a white green screen. He would proceed. What we thought might take a week or two (getting parts and repair) was done over the weekend. I couldn't be happier! read more

I cannot say enough great things about Michael. My HP laptop computer went bonkers - endless Windows updates, hinky touch pad, and suddenly no access to my documents etc. Honestly, I thought all my docs were cooked. I brought it into Michael. He asked some questions (he is a very attentive listener) and asked me to leave the computer for diagnosis. A few hours later he called back to the hard drive was shot and the battery had expanded and was fried, thus the problem with the touch pad. I was lucky that it hadn't caught fire. The good news - my computer was repairable. $303 and a day later I had a new and better hard drive with old my data transferred, a new battery, and a responsive touch pad. Michael's easy manner and technical know how is impressive. His turnaround service outstanding. He's my go to person for life! I'd give him 100 stars if I could. And he's a lovely person to boot. My laptop which I use for work everyday started overheating and turning off. I was able to drop it off to Michael before Thanksgiving and he look it over for me. It took a couple of days since it was a holiday and also was difficult to figure out what was going on. My kid spilled water all over my Macbook Pro, frying the logic board. Apple said it was a $1500 repair, and I would lose everything on my hard drive. Data recovery people quoted me over $2000 plus just to get my data back. I called a dozen places, and they all said that they were unable to repair it. However, Michael felt that he could probably do it. Michael ordered special parts, soldered out the corroded parts, and soldered in the new parts and got it all working. Not only did it save my hard drive, but it saved the computer. The price was also much less than those quoted above. There are not many places around that can repair the logic board on a mac. Highly recommend; I doubt there are many people as talented as Michael. read more

Michael was truly fantastic. I received a consultation from a different business which was fantastic (already wrote a review for them) but the fellow there recommended I go to Michael for installation of a battery on an older device. Word to the wise: if you are going to try to install your own battery in a device you are not very familiar with, perhaps you should consider getting professional help. I wound up accidentally severing two cables. Michael looked up the schematics for my device, and he was able to repair both by soldering them back on properly. He didn't charge me very much either. I have been using an Iphone 8 with a broken screen for a year with no problems. I decided to upgrade, fix my screen so I can give my old phone to my mom. His screens caused ghost touch. He would say let me order a better brand ... very time consuming resulting in problem after problem. The screens he used were way too sensitive. You press eight once it registers three times and you are locked out of your phone. Ghost touch is very unpleasant and at one point sent a safari page to someone. He would say let me order a better brand this time then he would say it was my phone's problem not the screen. The ghost touch started when he replaced the screen. Apple agreed with me. Apple screens are too complex for many unauthorized dealers to fix. read more
