Really hate to break up this love fest but I guess I went in with expectations set high. From the other reviews, I expected 1. Friendly service. 2. Attention to detail. 3. Quality. 4. Quick Turn-Around. Maria was pretty detached, efficient, very business like. Even a little cold. I did not expect the kind softhearted grandmother from Mother Goose but still...she could be nicer. I paid $80 for 4 pairs of premium denim hemmed with originals and tapered--True Religion Joey in Blackseed Denim, Old Glory; True Religion Billy Super T in Chalk; Rock & Republic Taylor in Selenium; and Diesel Zatiny in 8C0 wash. Now if you know your denim, these pairs ain't cheap--each one is easily over $200/$300. I expected Maria to keep the threading of my Super Ts...however, she did not. She fold hemmed with her own stitching. For the other pairs, I did not look closely because she matched the threading of the originals pretty well. I was pretty disappointed in the Super Ts though. The tapering made the jeans fit a lot better, but it was uneven. When wearing the jeans, it appears as if suddenly one area was super tapered, which is fine, but I guess I expected some more "smoothing out." From when I first walked in to when I walked out, a mere 15 minutes had elapsed. This may either be a testament to Maria's efficiency or lack of detail. However, keep in mind I had 4 pairs to try on and in the end I was unsatisfied with the results. From the reviews, it appeared the turn around was 1 day. She informed me it would take 8 days. I was a bit surprised but I was in no hurry--after all, I had 4 pairs. She promised to call me when they were ready. I received no call. When I called the day they were supposed to be ready she said they had been finished for 3 days. Ok... Lastly, when I came back, my R&R Seleniums were too short. So she said she saved a bit of the old she cut off and could reapply to lengthen them an inch. I had expected her to repair it immediately at no cost from the other reviews. She asked for an additional $10. I did not haggle. I did not complain. But I will not be coming back. read more

I'll start with a story: I love jeans as a concept and I live in them (my daily uniform is jeans, converse, and an oversized sweater.) My issue with them is that I have never found a PERFECT pair. I own two pairs of the same brand/fit of jeans that came pretty close to perfect - they were just a touch too big in the waist. I hate belts so I was psyched when I heard that you can get the waistband taken in on jeans. Brilliant! After trawling Yelp, I came across this place and thought that so many 5-star ratings cannot lead me astray. Sure enough, I called and asked if they can take in the waist on jeans - no problem. I brought them in the next morning and the woman gave me her full attention, pinning until we were both sure they were perfect. I picked them up less than 48 hours later and they were IDEAL. They seriously fit like they were made for me. If you don't think a pair of tailored jeans can make your whole week and make you feel like a goddess every time you slide them on...well, you're wrong. Oh, and it was only $12, which is small change on top of the price I pay for jeans. I'm going to do this with every pair of jeans I ever buy and as long as I live in this area, I'm gonna do it here. (Note: the only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is because they only accept cash and their hours are kinda funky and inconvenient: 7am-4pm) UPDATE: I took in a second pair for waist-tailoring and also hemming. I felt that these were just a tiny bit too long (like, less than an inch too long. May seem silly, but it bothers me.) They were again, super accommodating, quick (under 48 hours), and flawless. I've had friends examine the jeans and they can't even tell they've been tailored. I love this place. read more

I figured it's finally time for me to sit and write this woman a quality review! I really took a leap of faith in taking my Betsey Johnson dress to a seamstress I've never tried before, but it was definitely an emergency! I needed the dress taken in because I had lost some weight and I looked 5 months prego wearing it! She agreed. She had some VERY clever ideas. At that point, I knew that the "other" seamstresses didn't have a tenth of the amount of wisdom and experience Maria did! After she walked me through exactly what she was going to do, I stopped her and asked if it was possible to do ALL that and still have it done by...ummm....tomorrow?! By the look on her face, I knew it wasn't the most considerate request, but she said "no problem" nonetheless. :) 24 hours later, I went to get the dress. She had me try it on again to make sure everything was right. It was amazing!! Perfect. Above and beyond what I expected for sure! I could not believe how she was able to work under, over, and through the multiple layers of the dress (which were all sewn together) without needing to cut them...Oh, I also forgot to mention the dress was completely covered in tiny sequins which were all still perfectly intact and glamorous. Betsey would be so proud! The best part...She only wanted to charge me $15!! What?? I usually wouldn't tip for this sort of thing but I felt it was more than necessary for her speedy and high quality work. I definitely recommend Maria!! THE BEST! Maria does amazing work and amazing sacrifices to get the job done on time. When she says she can do it in any time frame she sticks to it even if it requires overtime. I took two different style jeans (super loose fit and tight jeans) in to be hem on a Thursday and they came out perfect by mid Friday. While I was in the shop, I asked if she new any thrift stores in the area to shop for a pirate costume.....long story. Anyways, she gave me perfect directions and fifteen minutes later I show back up to Maria with a full on oriental geisha dress. I asked her to make it a jacket for me by Saturday. She agreed and Friday night, two hours after closing time, I get the phone call that my jacket is ready. At first it fit tight and she instead of just sending me on my way she fixes the problem in fifteen minutes as we chit chat. Truly the BEST! After the two jeans and creation of a jacket I thought it was going to be a million dollars. She didn't charge me for the extra time she spent. I gave her a lottery ticket and a tip. Thanks Maria. Lady is nice but the place is a MESS and she seems to have trouble finding things... There is NO organization... My husband took his jeans to be hemmed... She called to say they were done.. Went in and she could NOT find them in the hoarding style of clothes all over the place... She asked me "what do they look like again??" She told me she would call me when she found them... Really??? You called said they were ready I went in and now they are lost and you want me to come back again? Ok... I've been coming here ever since I was asked by a friend to fill in as a bridesmaid last-minute. I had less than a week to get a bridesmaid dress altered down at least three sizes. I found Maria on Yelp and I'm so glad that I did. She did a great job altering the dress. She spent a lot of time pinning the dress until it fit how I liked it (really important because it was a strapless dress). Within a few days it was ready for me to try on. I made sure to tell her exactly when the dress needed to be completed so we allowed an extra day in case she needed to make other alterations after the first fitting. She did a little extra work making sure the hem was perfect and I was so pleased! I felt great wearing the dress and no one would have ever known it wasn't altered by the bridal shop. Not to mention, the price was fantastic. I'm sure it would have cost at least 3x as much to have it altered at the bridal shop. Ever since that great experience I have been coming here with all my alterations - jean hems, dresses, etc. I haven't done any original hemming with jeans so I can't speak to that service, but I'm sorry to read that another reviewer had such a bad experience. My advice is to be as specific as possible. Take time with the fitting. Bring the shoes you want to wear with the pants you are having altered so you are absolutely sure of the length. I'd even suggest pinning a note with your handwritten instructions to the garment. Maria should be cool with it! I am at the point where I will try on a garment that doesn't fit quite right and I think, "I'll buy it because I know Maria can alter it how I like it!" I can't tell you how many dresses I've had her fix for me. Quick fixes like strap adjustments and hems are cheap but even total alterations are reasonably priced. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because sometimes I've gone to the shop to pick something up and it's not ready yet. (These are non-urgent alterations, like she has said, "They will be ready Thursday" and I go there on Thursday and she's just working on it or says it won't be ready until later in the day.) I have learned to ALWAYS call before I drop by to make sure it's ready. I haven't had any problems when I call first. I know this might be annoying to some people but it doesn't bother me. Awesome tailoring! I have taken two very special dresses here and she tailored them to fit perfectly. I have a wine colored velvet dress that was to small around the bust, she found a pieces of material that perfectly matched and now it fits perfectly. I also took a vintage dress my mom had that was too small and now it fits perfectly and looks brand new. Sometimes it takes patience in waiting for the items but they are done very well and worth the wait. In both cases I wasn't in a hurry and I appreciated the work that was done. read more

It would take too much room to write about the miracles that Maria has performed... Just a few might give you an idea of her unbelievable talent, expertise, and yes, miracles that she's done with my clothes: 1) I'm a big fan of buying clothes at Nordstrom Rack. I found a $400+ dress reduced to $40! However, it was a size 2. Maria let out all of the seams and even found matching beads that she used to re-bead the new "bigger" dress. No other tailor anywhere would ever find and then sew individual seed beads onto the 1 1/2" waistband of a dress (both sides.) 2) I went in with a dress that I wanted to wear, but it was seriously 3 sizes too small. I couldn't get the dress up over my hips (hey, stop making judgements, the size 2 in the example above was for my adult daughter.) Luckily the outfit was a coat dress. Maria put very generous strips of material on each side of the dress, which made it a lot roomier. But her genius mind took part of the hem of the coat and put the fabric at the hem of the inserted material, so if I lifted my arms or got a bit active, one wouldn't see the inserted material. 3) Finally (and I will make this brief) you might go in and ask for one thing and with her expertise, Maria will tell you that something else will be more effective. I've asked for sleeves to be shortened and she has instead taken up the shoulder, or taken in a dart or seam. She will point out that a blazer really needs to have such and such done. I've brought in pants that didnt look good and she's tapered them all of the way up...I didn't realize they needed it! 4) Brides and formal/fancy dresses- she's your gal! I was in the shop when a bride-to-be came in and asked for the sides to be taken in on her dress. Maria showed her that actually, if you do this with the boning and that with the laces that the result will look so much better. And...the price was the same! Oh, by the way...her prices are very reasonable. In my opinion, for the miracles she performs, she doesn't charge enough. I always add on a tip! read more

i can't even give a review on how this woman's work is, because unfortunately i didn't end up going to her. i was supposed to take my bridesmaid dress in to her because the bride is having her dresses tailored however, after just a brief phone call, i decided not to waste my time on someone so unprofessional & rude. first of all, when we called her, she answers the phone, "hello?" so we thought we had the wrong number & we dialed again & got "hello?" so my mom said, "hi, is this geenen's tailoring?" & the woman replies, "yeah, this is it. what do you want?" in a quick, unwelcoming tone. & my mom politely asked, "i was wondering, what time do you close?" & she replies "4." so unfortunately due to her lack of friendliness & unprofessional manner, she lost business. read more
