This review is primarily based on recent claims experiences I have had with GEICO. Everything else is good with GEICO as well, as I really don't have much interaction with them, except for a claim. As many local here would know, we had a few good rain events in the past few months, with the first being the remnants of Julia and then Hurricane Matthew a few weeks after that. Both of my claims experiences were due to each of these events. In the first event. the first car ended up being a total loss due to flooding. Our neighborhood floods, but not to the extent it did during these two events. In this first claim, the process from beginning to end took six days. Brian was a great adjuster to work with on this first claim. Overall, this was a great claims experience. I never ended up having to use a rental car on this incident as I had already gotten another (new) car within that time period. The second claim occurred with Hurricane Matthew. The new car I had purchased a few weeks prior was sitting in water in my driveway. This was on October 9, 2016. The one good thing with this is that the new car was new, so the seals on them did pretty good at keeping a good amount of water out of my car. The water that did get in just seeped in, so it ended up that I only needed to have the carpeting and jute (padding) underneath the carpet to be replaced. There ended up being no issues with the engine, battery (my car is a hybrid), oil, and so forth. Sean was the adjuster for this incident was able to answer any questions I had. The longest parts of the process were getting an adjuster assigned to begin with (took almost a week for one to be assigned) and waiting for the parts to come to the dealership so that the work could begin. In this case, I ended up having to get a rental car due to how long the process took (I had coverage for it on my policy). In this case, the process took just under a month from beginning to end. This really wasn't GEICO's fault. It was just a long time trying to get the parts needed to fix the car. I'm not surprised given how many cars got flooded in our area from Hurricane Matthew. Overall, my two claims experiences went well. There were no major issues to contend with pertaining to GEICO in either situation. Although I work there, I have no knowledge of the claims side of things. This is strictly based on my two claims experiences as noted above. Hopefully, I won't have to worry about any more claims for a long time. read more

I called Geico to get a quote on auto insurance, I called four different times to talk to different Representatives, each time they confirm the quote and the last one told me what day would be good to cancel my current insurance! I canceled my insurance to have Geico start on the same day that I canceled! I call Geico back to set it up and now they tell me that the rates have gone up significantly!!!!!! This is a bait and switch!!!!!!! They're not even close to a reputable company!!!!!! Luckily I called my insurance company back and got it set right back up it's no changes! They think when they give you a substantial higher quote when you go to set it up with them that you're going to still keep it!!!!!! This is bad business!!!!!!!! I had an extremely disappointing experience with GEICO. On June 9, I discovered through the mobile app that my auto insurance policy had been canceled effective June 4 without any prior notice. I had only requested the cancellation of my renters insurance policy after spending hours on the phone and waiting more than four weeks for a simple policy update that no representative was able to resolve. Instead of canceling the renters policy, GEICO mistakenly canceled my auto insurance policy. These are completely different policies, and I had provided all the necessary information regarding my renters insurance. The error was entirely on GEICO's side. What was even more frustrating was the response from customer service. Rather than acknowledging and correcting their mistake, I was told that I would have to reactivate the policy myself. Although the coverage offered was the same as before, the premium was higher. I should not have to pay more for identical coverage because of an error made by GEICO. Instead of taking responsibility, the company shifted the burden and financial consequences of its mistake onto me. As a customer, it felt like an attempt to charge me more because of a problem that GEICO created. The customer service experience was terrible from start to finish. No one took responsibility, and no one provided a reasonable solution. Every interaction felt like I was being pushed toward cancellation and the purchase of a new policy rather than receiving actual assistance. I also had a very poor experience with Stillwater, which only added to the frustration. What concerns me most is that GEICO canceled my auto insurance without warning, potentially placing me in a serious legal and financial situation. Fortunately, nothing happened while I was driving with my two minor children in the vehicle, but what if there had been an accident during the period when I unknowingly had no insurance coverage? A mistake of this magnitude could have had devastating consequences. I do not understand how a company can cancel a customer's auto policy without proper notice or oversight. What are supervisors doing if these types of errors can occur without being detected or corrected? Customers should not have to constantly monitor their accounts to make sure GEICO has not made a critical mistake. I have also heard from friends who experienced similar issues when their premiums increased. Based on my experience, GEICO has provided some of the worst customer service I have ever encountered. Communication is extremely difficult, mistakes are not corrected, and customers are left to deal with the consequences. I would not recommend GEICO to anyone. My experience showed a lack of accountability, poor customer service, and a disregard for the serious impact that insurance errors can have on customers and their families. read more

I wish I would have looked at their reviews before I got auto insurance with them. Thousands and thousands of reviews and they were all around 2 stars. Unfortunately I now know they deserve it. In fact I think it would be much lower if you could give zero stars. Absolutely horrible company. It's been a total nightmare since we asked for our first quote. If it's this bad already with so many mistakes on their part that have cost us, I can't imagine what would happened if we had to file a claim. This business consistently posts positions on Indeed for Customer Service Representative, Senior Customer Service Representative, or Claims Specialist Roles. I have interviewed twice for two of the different positions and have been told I have met the criteria and qualifications they were/are looking for and was being moved forward in the next process and then immediately get an email claiming I don't meet the qualifications when I most definitely do based by their job postings and my experience. I attempted to give them a final and third chance and applied for another position and got offered another virtual interview and was never sent the link to join. I spent over 45 minutes, 30 minutes of the time I should have been in the interview, with the 800 number, as this is all that is available even to candidates when there is any technical issues, trying to reach the HR Department and just got a complete run around. When I tried to reapply I immediately got rejected. I would definitely not recommend getting insurance through this company based by their reviews that I have seen or seek employment here. It surely seems apparent that they don't want someone who truly cares, remembers what, and will contribute the true meaning of what CUSTOMER SERVICE really is. read more

Had insurance through them. No accidents no tickets .started off with a decent premium. Time to renew policy went up and still no accidents nor tickets. Ok fine renewed. Already struggling. Niw time to renew and premium up 200 dollars no accident no tickets. Mean while car broke can't driving to expensive to fix. So did not pay. Than car repossessed. Policy cancelled of course expecting that. Well needless to say they did not know I do not have a car so I do not need insurance while uber and bus. They turned me into DMV saying Im driving with no insurance. Which was a lie. They should have checked with me or looked up vin to see i no longer had car or called finance company. Then DMV sends me a letter stating my license going to be suspended if no insurance provided by certain date. I called DMV let them no I had no car to have insurance. They were real nice and quickly noted my account so no worries about my license. Then they quickly deactivated my tags so no one can try and pull a scam like this. Nor can someone drive the car with my name on the tags. So Im good to go but lawsuit coming unless they forgive the policy. If not I can pay from the class action lawsuit Im starting. So very sad and disappointing to see a company like Geico except bad service from reps, mgrs., and supervisors. They use to emphasize on providing excellence in customer support, but those days has gone to the wayside. A supervisor named Donovan was so rude and disrespectful I wanted to regurgitate. Very shady, shifty, lying claims adjustment for an accident that was not my fault. Their client was found at fault. They lie to you over the phone and offer you a dollar amount for lost wages, but refuse to put it in writing or follow up. The say the will pay medical expenses (but are only truly offering to pay you insurance co-pay not the actual bills) and an amount for the pain and suffering then they send you a document to sign conveniently with the wrong date of visit specified, and then they mail you a check that states if you cash this that's all your getting which doesn't even match what the Document said and excludes any medical payments... Lies, lies, lies, shady stuff once you state that you don't want to communicate verbally over the phone because of all the many lies they just stop communicating with you altogether. I have been insured with Geico for 12 years. A deer hit my car. The headlight COVER was broken and it cracked my bumper. Geico totaled my car!!! they allowed me a rental for a week and then cancelled my rental. I had a $1900 rental coverage policy and they cut it off at half of that!!! I still haven't received my check for my car. They said that they reported to the DMV that my car is a total loss so it would cost me the total repairs plus the cost to rebuild the title!!! Now I have no money, no car, and no rental. I will never do business with them again. I am furious!!! read more

WARNING - Read before buying boat insurance from BoatU.S. that uses GEIKO for their underwriting. One year ago I got insured with BoatU.S. Marine Insurance Program. Previously insured with AAA Auto Club for several years at $450 annually. Boat U.S. offered the same price, but allowed for an agreed value of my boat, which was important because I just put several thousand into a new engine and other upgrades. Auto Club didnt have this option for me, thats the only reason I gave Boat U.S. a try. My anual policy fee was approx. $435 with Boat U.S. and the policy was set to renew in April 2018. So I just got emailed the new policy and it goes up to over $1,100 hundred dollars. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CLAIM WITH MY PREVIOUS INSURANCE COMPANY, OR BOAT U.S. They had no creditable reason for the increase. I said I'm in California where boats only get used a few months in the summer, not like in Florida where they are used year round. The lady tells me "well you have earth quakes there" Unbelievable !!! But actually not because I had auto insurance with GEIKO for 1-1/2 years insuring 3 autos with perfect driving records and they wanted to raise my insurance $65 dollars a month, and gave me the excuse that it was a California increase, did not matter on our driving records. Bottom Line - Do not insure with BoatU.S. as long as they are with GEIKO as their underwriter. And if you insure with them at all - look at the price the second year because maybe this is how Boat U.S. makes their money, kick backs ??? If anyone wants more info from me, just ask, policy info, etc. The dollar amount I was insuring was $34,000. Not much for the high policy fee they want. read more

Geico is dragging their feet on a claim my wife and i have against them. They are clearly the ones liable. The car that guy us was the only car that was red in color and the paint transfer on our car was red. My wife was injured in the incident and i can't get a supervisor on the phone to help. If you are military, avoid geico at all costs. They have no consideration for service members. If your payment method expires while out on deployment they will not notify you and will send it to collections after the first missed payment. I even had a second card on file with them that was current and they did not charge it. I had another insurance with USAA that was attached to the same expired card, all they did was stop the service and allowed me to resume the policy as soon as I got back and provided updated payment info. read more

I think I would give Geico less than a star! My truck was rearended while I was at a stop by a Geico customer. Geico said they would fix it. They did an estament, and sent me a check for $600.00. The problems started when I went to get it fixed. The OEM parts were in the thousands of dollars. Geico only pays for after market parts. If i want OEM parts, Geico said I could pay the differance. If you make a claim with Geico, your vehicle will go from Chevrolet, to China-rolet in fifteen minutes! After trying to settle a minor accident with the Regional Office of Geico in Va Beach, VA, I have come to the conclusion, that they have been the most difficult insurance company that I have ever dealt with. My car was involved in a minor accident, the driver of the Geico insured car was at fault. They have not tried to settle the claim, but have tried to make it difficult for the innocent driver to be able to get a settlement. I have had to try to get a claim which is under $2,000 paid out by Geico. The adjuster in the VA Beach office has been among the worst that I have ever had to communicate with. He has stalled the process in every way that he can. Even when requesting to obtain the name of his manager, he did not provide and worked to transfer the claim to another office. DO NOT GET GEICO INSURANCE!!! They will charge YOU for claims that you make for items that aren't even your fault. Someone run into your car in the parking lot and you file a claim? Increase. I was with geico for over a year and never used my insurance for anything other than roadside one time, and I never completed that because it was snowing and they told me an hour before someone would get to me). When I barely tapped another car one time leaving out of my parking lot, I called to report the claim. Being that the police wasn't called they said my claim was under investigation and never fixed my car. Worst service ever taking 2 weeks to "investigate" a claim. Been so long I've been stranded without a car.

"Avoid Geico Auto Insurance" they have a (1) star rating on consumer affairs out of 1,176 reviews as of 10-14-15. Geico also has 1,296 reports against them with the BBB and less than half resolved. Their corporate offices and most facilities don't register with the BBB (why not?) so that number would quantitatively double, triple, or quadruple if more complaint avenue's existed. I personally have experienced support reps not honoring their word and follow through on my requests 3 times and consequentially being charged erroneously from Geico's own mistakes. I have experienced an answer to question given by a Geico employee on the phone only to have the same person then change their response when logically questioned...This company has bad service, will tell you one thing and do another on the phone when doing business with them and provide no follow through or concerns to a customer's requests.15 minutes could COST you a lot more than anything Geico could offer. Hope this helps anyone seeking auto insurance. There's a reason Geico cuts rates on any costs you see...don't find out why for yourself, give your auto insurance to another company. read more

GEICO has been awful to deal with having my vehicle repaired. I have had to deal with multiple adjusters that have ALL been very dishonest. They have made the repair process a nightmare. All I wanted was to have my vehicle repaired to its original condition, and this has proved to be an uphill battle from day 1. I have dealt with Liberty Mutual in the past under similar circumstances and they made the process seamless and pleasurable. Whatever savings GEICO advertises constantly is not worth the horrible customer service and dishonesty. Very unknowledgeable employees. read more
