Service was a 5 stars, let's start there. The young woman manager, I will try and find her name, was as friendly as they come when I walked in. She chatted me up. Allowed me to try multi flavors. Shared with me about the speakeasy next door and there new menu and concept. The place is so cutsey, nicely decorated. The parking is limited to a few spots out front. I didn't check to see if there was parking lot in the back. The Gelato itself was fair, but did not blow me away with flavor. I got a Nuttella half scoop. I appreciate they had smaller sizes if you don't want to overindulge. I'm glad to have tried it, and may come back for the speakeasy. i love ice cream and gelato. i went to both the ice cream and the speakeasy behind it. the front is really cute. ambiance is similar to other ice cream stores. service was friendly as i tried multiple flavors before settling with two different ones. i picked ok because neither flavor stood out as amazing to me. the dubai chocolate was a bit too nutty for my taste and the other flavor i got tasted like something you could get in a grocery store. however, it wasn't bad ice cream, just average. read more

I'm a bit bummed to have to update my review and removing a star while at it, but it had to be done. Since my last review, I had gone back around 4 to 5 times or so. We loved it so much and it's a bit closer to us. But then we didn't come for maybe 2 months and I brought a friend of mine there with my family on our last visit a few weeks ago. This time, the lady we spoke with previously (I think she's the manager?) wasn't there. There were 2 employees and one was obviously new. She didn't know what the Sicilian was! That still remained my favorite thing to order to sample everything. Apparently, no one had ordered that before when she was working. I guess she knows now, haha. But the reason for my updated review was after that first visit, I returned with my family. I loved the flavors and how good they tasted. I loved how pillowy the zeppole were. The people I brought loved it too! We spoke with the lady and she said that their gelato were made a in a certain order and my kid could have the chocolate one, which is honestly the only flavor he wants anyway. And so we got it for him and he had no issues. When we returned, we would always double check (just in case there was a change in routine or recipe), and it was still okay. The last time? The two employees didn't know and they were hesitant to let us order it. As a result, my youngest was left with no gelato. We ended up getting one Sicilian to quickly share amongst the adults and my kid with no food allergies got her usual straciatella. For some odd reason, they tasted different. They weren't as creamy and the flavors tasted almost watered down because I could taste a few ice crystals (which should not be a thing in gelato) and even borderline artificial tasting? I don't know what changed in the time since my last visit, but something happened. Not only do the staff not know about allergens nor do they have a way to find out, but the quality of the gelato seems to have gone down as well. I hope this is just a one off and I'll try to give them one more chance... but without my kid with the food allergies. We had to go to another gelato place we know he could eat at afterwards because he was so disappointed. I really hope we just made it in on a bad day - but to that extent? This was a great hidden gem to find in the area!! I was looking for new shops, mainly cause I love ice cream but also other things caught my eye here! First and foremost, the shop is so cute and the gelato is delicious. The employee was great at explaining things to us and letting us sample multiple flavors. I ordered classic with toasted coconut and lizard cherry stracc. Was an amazing combo and the extra crisp and puff was delicious! They also have a small order of the puffs (Zeppole) on their own and they were amazing. My partner ordered the Madagascar vanilla and it was equally delicious. The best part of this place is that it is a chain of Rossa establishments. Connected to it is a speak easy that is accessible through a hidden sliding door on one end of the restaurant as well as a small outside door. It was closed on my visit but will be sure to visit. Same for the extra restaurant next door that smelled amazing from outside. All in all an amazing shop and will definitely be revisiting! read more

I came here last weekend for gelato in the late afternoon with only two other cars in the absolutely tiny parking lot and by the time we ordered and sat outside with our gelato, the lot was full and people were parking at the building next door (not sure if that's allowed or not). I tried the stracciatella with cherry (didn't have much cherry flavor) and I ended up getting the espresso gelato (one of my go to flavors) and it was one of the best ones I've tried in Houston. It was super strong, had espresso powder bits in it, and came with a cone chip and fried dough ball, which was a nice touch. They don't take cash which was kind of annoying and there's few seating there as it was a small space (indoor/outdoor). Would definitely come back! read more

It was soo good and it was cute interior, like an old time ice cream shop. We also spent a lot of time talking with the worker, they were both really personable and they made the whole experience so welcoming. Gelato Rossa is a yummy gelato spot, located right next door to its sister Italian restaurant Enoteca Rossa (which I really like). I had a small cup, which allowed me to get two flavors--cookies and cream and peanut butter--and both were delicious. And it's a cute place with nice service! The only reason I didn't give Gelato Rossa 5-stars is the prices--for one small waffle cone, one small cup, and one kids cup, we paid ~$27 (including tax and tip), which is steep in my opinion. read more

So much to improve... the potential is there, good location, some parking spots, looks great, the gelato its more ice cream, but good quality and nice variety of Italian like flavors. Had to wait for a while to have someone coming to serve, it came and go, said to wait, and some more wait, than a nice gentleman came and started to fill the cup with 2 scoops, than came a young woman and he gave her the cup that supposedly was the wrong one, he went she continue but with another cup, just a messy, very unprofessional and not so polite person. She doesn't have a clue how to talk with a client and was very rude. The gelato is average but very expensive for the size of the cups, the 2 scoops size is more like a sample size. I was excited to have an ice cream shop in the neighborhood. Stopped by for the first time today. Very disappointed. Ordered a small scoop of Belgian chocolate in cup with hot fudge and nuts. Over seven dollars for this tiny little treat. The topping was not hot fudge. It was hard chocolate shell. I took three or four bites and threw it away. Not sure if the bad aftertaste was the gelato or the topping. Regardless it was not enjoyable. They do not accept cash. On top of an expensive ice cream they want a tip for counter service. We traveled to Italy this summer, so my son was eager to return to Gelato Rossa when we got back to Texas. We really enjoy this gelato shop. It is clean and the staff are helpful. 1 serving costs as much as a gallon of Blue Bell and isn't as good. Parking is overcrowded, they ask for tips but do not wait on customers, and use loud power tools for building maintenance during their open hours. Seating is also subpar for the pricing. read more
