Both cupcakes were boxed up beautifully, with tax the cupcakes were $12.00 Both cupcakes were delicious and honestly I'm waiting to go back! The whipped icing was magical! Cute new bakery in the Rice Village/ West U area. It originates from New Orleans and has made its way to the H! They offer an assortment of delicatessens gelato, macrons, cupcakes, madeleines and other sweet treats. They also offer a variety of coffee beverages freshly brewed with their own original blend. The aesthetic is very cute and very pink! They have a cute patio space and indoor seating as well. I stopped in and ordered an Americano for my coffee fix a nice medium brew that is not acidic, and a lavender citron and a Sucre confetti cupcake. OMG talk about amazing! The owner was present and recommended the lavender citron and boy was he right! It is created to perfection. The lavender is subtle and doesn't over power the flavors at all. I also ordered a Sucre confetti cupcake,which I haven't tried yet but it too is crafted beautifully and I am sure it will equally taste amazing! I was informed of a new dessert spot that was close to where I was grabbing happy hour and figured why not check it out. Sucre is a pastry shop on Kirby in the Rice Village area and I guess hails from New Orleans. It does have dedicated parking which is always nice. Walking in, this feels like a high end pastry shop, clean, modern, and display cases full of various pastries. Service was nice and the pastry come in very nice packaging. We ordered the fruit tart and the lavande citron entremet. Unfortunately, this was more of aesthetic with no substance for me. The lavande citron tasted like excessively sweet birthday cake with the most subtle hint of lemon and mo lavendar. It was sort of like a grocery store cupcake that was dressed up. The fruit tart was also rather soft and textureless, like it was made for someone who couldn't chew. The fruit portion was a strange gel and the tart itself was like a super soft shortbread. What this spot has in aesthetic they lose out in flavor and texture. For me, it was not a spot that was worth the money and seemed to be built for a quick pic for social media more so than any substantial quality of pastry. It was a nice ambiance and staff were super kind though but likely won't be returning. read more

Sucre is a new, cute little macaron shop, located on Kirby just across from Rice Village. (I believe they also sell gelato, but I didn't try the gelato.) I tried four flavors of macarons (blueberry, chocolate, vanilla, and caramel), and they were all very tasty. The vanilla was surprisingly my favorite--it had great, strong vanilla flavors. read more

I kept seeing the sign for this new place and decided to stop by. I am so glad that I did! The interior is classy and elegant, with a Parisian feel to it. I loved the unique marble floors which were shining, as well as the glass doors and windows, which created a sense of openness. The displays are well thought out and clearly categorized, which makes it easy to select what you want. There were areas for the macarons, gelato, entremes and cupcakes. The employees at the counter were also very helpful and told us to let them know if we needed any assistance. The chocolate macarons were packed with flavor and substance with each bite. The triple chocolate gelato was creamy and delicious, with a complex flavor profile. My personal favorite was the chocolate and peanut butter dome which had a light and fluffy chocolate filling with a hint of peanut butter. A great addition to the area! read more

Parking is fantastic! Huge lot. Came in to pick up a pre ordered king cake on Fat Tuesday and it was in perfect condition and delicious per usual. Bathroom was clean and they had sitting space. Lots of great pastry choices and ice cream available. read more

So glad to see Sucre in town. This is my favorite King Cake and to order from NOLA is expensive. The building is so modern and nice. The gentleman was so pleasant and, the talker I am was so kind. I gave ideas to make less bare in the cases and not so monochrome. The best thing is the King Cake. read more

A friend told me about Sucré's Houston location and I just had to visit. I'm so glad I did because the King Cake is delicious. The bakery is beautiful all on its own and customer service was 10/10. I've been telling everyone I know about this location. I'll be buying another king cake to bring to a Super Bowl party this Sunday! read more

Three visits here and so far so good! The staff have always been friendly and the sweets tasty. Also, free parking!! Abundant, free parking is rare in this area, and it's so nice to not pay and have to time oneself. The decor feels "Parisian instagram" to me without being over the top. A friend told me the shop is from New Orleans and wonderful. So maybe its more of a NOLA vibe? Not sure, but its charming and clean. There is also a lovely outdoor patio with fans in addition to plenty of seating inside and cute benches on the front patio. I found the prices to be on par or slightly lower than other sweets places I frequent. Plus, I do not have to pay for parking! : ) If you are gluten free and dairy free, they have delicious Ritual dark chocolate bars and sorbets. The mango sorbet tastes like a perfectly ripe mango on ice to me. Not overly sweet, which is great. We have brought friends here, and they also found it delightful. The baked goods are gorgeously decorated. I would definitely gift these for a special occasion. Lastly, they have espresso beverages and almond milk available. I went by today to get macaroons for a friend who's in the hospital (she loves them and I wanted to brighten her day) - the service was friendly and the cafe was pretty - but I'm disappointed in the product! 1. The price - $3.25 a macaroon is very steep 2. They were sort of flavorless 3. I visited Sucre here in Houston recently to get some gelato for me and the kids. We got the Cookies and Cream gelato, which I thought was excellent! That's the good news. Unfortunately, though, I'm pretty confident that this location will not "survive" in the mid-long term. A primary reason is price. At almost $8 per gelato scoop, the prices are very high. I saw chocolate bars for like $17, cupcakes for $8, and little pastries for $13. I've been to high end places around the world and don't recall ever seeing such insane price levels, let alone in Houston. This will be their demise unless they adjust their strategy. On a completely separate matter, their service sucks. A large black lady behind the counter was very unfriendly and didn't even bother to cover her mouth while coughing. Disappointed with the visit, December 22, around 1:30 pm. Because Sucre New Orleans set the standard, which Houston's location fell short. I found Sucre in a recent visit to New Orleans during Halloween weekend of 2025, while looking for post brunch coffee. I told the wonderful lady working the counter at the New Orleans location, I needed to wake me up from a long prior evening of partying and told me about, and made for me an amazing espresso which got me back into the game. She also conversed with me and shined so much southern hospitality and warmth, I had to go back and get more. She was just so pleasant and a charm to speak with. I had so much energy to continue touring the city for the remainder of the day. I wish I'd the name of the woman who helped me in New Orleans, because she is a super star. December 22, I was Sucre in my home town, Houston, on Kirby near 59. I stopped in for coffee, excited with nostalgia from my New Orleans visit two months prior. When I walked in, I waited three minutes for the woman working the counter, to come from the back and greet me and take my order. I found it odd I had to wait three minutes to be helped because the employee decided its appropriate to leave a customer waiting. Mind, there was only one other couple in the facility. So there was no line, there was something more requiring of the employee's attention in the back behind the closed doors of the store, than my order. I then noticed the absence of a coffee menu. I asked if the store had coffee, to which the employee stated there was a coffee selection, but stated there are no menus. That's odd, because Sucre New Orleans had coffee menu. It's my assumption the employee working Houston location neglected to provide menus because a full selection would require her to invest time preparing items on the menu, instead of saying "we only carry espresso, and regular coffee" which requires little effort to prepare. The Houston employee had nothing to say, beyond yes and no. No suggestions, no warmth, minimal effort, and did not say "thank you." after my order was paid for. She just went back behind the closed doors to the back the store to resume whatever she believed required her attention more than I, the paying customer. I write this review to contrast the diametrically opposing experiences I received between Sucre locations. Sucre is a brand. The sweet, charming southern belle working the counter in New Orleans sold this brand and made me rush to to the Houston location, hoping to repeat the pleasant in my home town, but I will never set foot in returning to the Houston location. It was so abhorrent and reprehensible, I will drive six hours to New Orleans for Sucre, before I drive fifteen minutes to the Houston location. I appeal to the owner of this brand, please, sir or ma'am, coach and correct the Houston staff, present December 22, 2025 around 1pm - 2pm. Sucre brand is a gem, and the staff present the aforementioned time for Houston, is not performing to the standard by which the New Orleans staff has set. New Orleans staff sold the Sucre brand. They are rockstars. I will drive six hours to New Orleans before I ever set foot in Sucre Houston. read more
