Normally don't leave reviews unless the experience was super awful but damn.. Got my salad and took 5 minutes to get a fork to eat it.. Nbd wasn't stressed at that point because the bartender was super busy. I work in food service I get that.. Then the rest of the food came out and we were never checked on again for the next 20 minutes while we ate. Would have loved to bring up the fact that this chicken wing was completely RAW.. put it out by the card just waiting for the bartender to notice us/the chicken wing and she never did so we just paid and left. Hoping we don't get sick. The rest of the wings were cooked we just so happened to bust into to this one last.. Again I get it if you're absolutely slammed but just felt like we were getting completely ignored for no reason. We were polite so not sure what the deal was. read more

This was a pretty good diner. Me and my family came here for dinner while passing through Hays. The food here was great! I really enjoyed my burger. I also had one of my brother's chicken tenders and they were good too. The service here was really good. Our waitress was super kind and helpful. The inside was decently clean. The only downside to it was the bathrooms were kind of dirty. Good ambiance too. Overall, good restaurant and I recommend it. read more

Needed a place for lunch driving through the state and this was recommended online. It was a fine lunch, nothing that I would necessarily come back for. We grabbed the pretzel starter mostly because we love beer cheese. The pretzels themselves were okay, I don't think they were necessarily pretzels but rather just fried dough, and were huge portions. The honey mustard dip was nice. But the beer cheese certainly is not beer cheese in either texture or taste. I would liken it more to cream cheese? Which is fine if that's what you're expecting. The brewben I was a bit disappointed in. The menu advertised an interesting stout dressing but this sandwich was surprisingly dry, so not sure if the dressing was even there? The meat itself was one slab of meat rather than sliced thinner/piled, which I would expect. The greenbeans side of this dish was probably my favorite part of the meal: surprisingly crunchy and nicely seasoned. We also got a cheeseburger, which was fine. The fries were nicely crispy. I do wish the cheese itself were slightly more melted. The beer options with the brewery connected are interesting. They are extremely cheap so you can easily get a 16 oz pour for something like $5-6. The beer was fine, but it seems to have won a ton of awards in the area? The seating areas are extensive. One thing I will point out, however, is that Yelp amenities explicitly state that dogs are allowed and this is the main reason we came here. This is not true. Not only are dogs not allowed, when we asked we were told that no where in the area elsewhere would really allow dogs, either. Luckily, because we had so much leftover fried dough ("pretzel"), we had something to give the dogs for the rest of the drive. read more

We came here based on many local suggestions as well as an article that said that this place was a "must try" in Hays, KS. Unfortunately, they notified us that they were short staffed on the morning of our visit. They would be able to seat us, but food could take about an hour to prepare. I appreciated their honesty and I found it very honorable to let hungry guests know the situation. We chose to go to another restaurant since we were very hungry. Other guests also decided to leave as well. The place looks great and we will try to visit next time. read more

Second time visiting in Hays and eating at Gella's. Both times the food has been absolutely delicious. Previous trip I had pork chops that were tender, moist and flavorful. Just had a great meal of the bourbon bacon ribeye sandwich. This was no slouch as the ribeye was perfectly flavorful even with the sauce and bacon. Don't think sides are a second thought here either. They are prepared with the same attention as the main course. Portion sizes are large and prices are very reasonable. This is now a favorite stop every time I visit Hays. read more

We have stopped here several times and have always enjoyed the pleasant, clean environment. Today on our way to western Kansas we stopped. I ordered a new item on the menu; a Grilled chicken breast, topped with mozzarella, bruschetta, pesto, and finished with a balsamic glaze. Served on Tuscan style herb focaccia. Sad to say there was very little to NO basil in the pesto. The flavor it could have had, and I so longed for! My husband's crisp chicken stir fry. His comment was everything was "gummy." We've been here several times and the food is always great quality and the brews form Lbs Brewing are fresh and cold. I am partial to the Oatmeal Stout. I've had a few food items and nothing has ever disappointed. This time through I had the Berry Chicken Salad. It was a generous portion with fresh greens, juicy strawberries and plumb blueberries. What makes this salad for me is the poppy seed vinaigrette. It is so fresh and packed full of flavor. Previous visits I have had the sliders and bacon cheeseburger. The pork chop is thick cut and very juicy. The garlic green beans is always a family favorite... they are so good... along with the Grebble. Food was great. My wife had the vegetarian mushroom burger with creamy Cole slaw for a side. I had the Tri tip steak sandwich with onion rings as a side. Our server was Kylee who was very friendly and attentive. We both loved our meals. The historic building provided a nice ambiance. The Liberty stout brewed on the premises was also very good. Pretty good food. We came a little before it got busy so it was nice and quiet except for the music and kitchen hoods. Loved that. We split a KC strip, garlic green beans, and a side salad. Loved the green beans, perfectly cooked and seasoned. We ordered the steak medium rare but it came a little rarer than we'd hoped. We didn't send it back so they didn't have a chance to fix it (that's on us) but we loved the seasoning and butter that was on it. The side salad tasted like not everything got washed so there's that. We tried the Galaxy IPA and it was good. Also had the grapefruit radler and it was kind of whatever. The staff was really nice. Our waitress was really sweet and attentive. We would definitely come back if we're ever in the area. The atmosphere is typical taproom / family-friendly sports bar, but it was clean and airy, and the staff was friendly and just the right amount of attentive. I had the Brewben (Reuben) with a side of agave glazed carrots. Normally I don't care for cooked carrots, but "agave glazed" caught my eye, and they ended up being VERY good - not too soft or sweet. Gella's is well worth the drive from I-70. The food was great and they have excellent variety! I even tried two new items I've never had before. The Greble appetizer was great. I also enjoyed the Bierock. My teenage boys devoured the Pork Chop and the Chicken Stir Fry. Both of those were awesome. My wife really enjoyed the upscale Sliders! We have been traveling to Colorado from St. Louis for almost 20 years to ski. We have been stopping at Gellas/Lb Brewing for most of those years as it is a tradition and we have always loved the place. Stopped by yesterday and had dinner and some brews. Everything about this place is wonderful. The service was great. Our server, Gracie, was very attentive and helped us make some food choices. The Grebble is a MUST GET item. It's like a funnel cake without all the messiness. Try it with the pesto. It's different but good. The place is huge but segmented into different sections. SO glad I went -- great beer, excellent food, top-notch service (shout out to Kylee - a very hardworking barkeep!) and more than fair pricing. A pint of beer was $5.50... no, this is NOT the happy hour price. I had the "small" size salad with spinach and arugula, fresh berries, pecans, feta AND grilled chicken... for $11!! It's noisy. Let me say that at the outset. Conversation is difficult. With an extremely extensive menu. It's a wonder they excel at as many things as they do. The special of the gnocchi with chicken was delicious. The teriyaki wings were enjoyed by those who ordered them and the garlic fries are not to be missed. But it's the first time I've ever been asked by the waitress to help her pre- bus my table. We waited a goodly length of time for our meals to arrive, during which at no point were we approached to ask if we needed anything else. This is a must when visiting Hays. My husband and I stayed one night in Hays but made a point to go based on other reviews and I can't be happier we did. Food was delicious. The fried dough appetizer sounds strange but was really good. My husband got the flight of beer and enjoyed all of them. They have a beer for anyone's taste. If beer isn't your thing they have a great cocktail menu as well. Even if you are a non drinker the food is worth a trip on its own. We had the best service and the atmosphere was good. TLDR the food was good, but there was a loud guy who's apparently notorious at some other bars. Ordered the chicken pesto pasta. The pasta itself was pretty good. The chicken was a bit dry, but then again, it was covered in sauce, so not really a big deal. Waiter was pretty nice too. Now for the focus of my review. As the TLDR says, there was a really obnoxious guy walking around, but after he left, the manager came up to us and apologized for him, so that was pretty cool. Anyway, the dude was shirtless and loud, and apparently he's notorious in the area for starting fights at some other bars. Supposedly he's not a regular at this place, but he seemed friendly with some of the waiters, but tbh they were probably just being friendly so he wouldn't stir anything. Acted like a complete toddler: burping, cursing, using chairs as weights, you name it. Sometimes he'd be like "sorry for the noise guys" but then go right back to whatever he was doing.
