My mom loved the persimmon sorbet. I thought it was okay but nothing special, pretty plain actually. The pistachio was creamy and good. The mint choc chip gelato I had here BLEW MY MIND. It tasted more like actual mint leaves then anything else flavoured mint I have ever consumed, including fresh mint tea. It was like having the beautiful fresh leaves in your mouth, except instead of the gross stalky stuff you have delicious creamy gelato. MMM. Says a lot then that this incredible gelato experience was dwarfed by my friend's who very very wisely opted for a raspberry and chocolate combination that was truly sensational. The natural flavours burst through as soon as they touch your tongue. The flavours they offer can differ day-by-day as Gelupo keeps things fresh and interesting. AMAZING gelato. I got the bitter chocolate and the spagnola (sour cherry and cream) flavours, two scoops in a tiny cup. While 4 quid is pricey, the incredible quality is worth it. The chocolate flavour is intense as is the cherry- you feel you are chewing are yummy ripe cherries. The combo worked well. I also go the gianduja brownie, which was OK- soft and crumbly but should have had more intense chocolate flavour. read more

so unfortunately i came here at night and they seemed to out of a lot of flavors according to staff. when i asked for recommendations on flavors that they are known for and pistachio was one of them but it has been sold out already. so i ordered: spagnola (4 pounds) which is sour cherry with custard. unfortunately this flavor just didn't win me over. i felt a bit disappointed but i finished it anyways. why you ask? because i just paid $8 US dollars for it. you darn right i'm gonna make sure my money didn't go to waste. by the way i got the smallest size. my husband got the affogato- which he liked at the beginning when the gelato was not melted yet. once it completed melted he couldn't finish it because he said it started to taste nasty. our friends got a different flavor gelato which i can't recall but they didn't like it as much either. so i personally wouldn't recommend getting the spagnola. i also wouldn't recommend you coming here in the evening because you might encounter my same experience. wished they had more flavors available or even just made more of their hit flavors so that it wouldn't be ran out. tips: *very warm inside the store *price is more expensive than other gelato places i've tried during my trip to the UK *indoor and outdoor seating *they do a lot of catering events read more

I spent a semester in Italy and this beats any gelato I've ever had. I came here when I was in London for just one night. I was in the Piccadilly area and found it on Yelp and decided that ice cream is always a good idea. Boy was I right. This cafe is super charming with everything made in house. It is VERY popular so be ready for a crowd and a wait. I tried the ricotta, coffee & honey with Bonet (chocolate, coffee, egg yolk, rum, caramel, amaretti). It was so amazing. I'm lucky we don't have one of these in Austin because I might just have an addiction. A small gelato is 3 pounds which is pretty expensive but so is everything in London. The guy behind the counter was super friendly to me (and understanding that I didn't have any pound coins, only card). I didn't try the coffee but it looked quite delicious as well. Heaven in a waffle cone! After a long day of coursework and then Soho shopping we were in desperate need of something cold and sweet. I've had this place bookmarked for weeks based on all the wonderful reviews. I now completely understand why everyone loves the gelato here so much. For one, the menu has the most interesting flavours I've ever seen! Blood orange, Elderflower, Fresh mint stracciatella. Of course there are the "normal" ones too like hazelnut and pistachio. I was so intrigued by the fresh mint I had to get it. I also ordered bitter chocolate because I love super dark chocolate and the description said the cocoa was 72% dark. If you love fresh mint leaves like I do, I definitely recommend getting the fresh mint stracciatella. It's got such an intense mint taste I imagine they used a lot of actual fresh mint leaves to make it. Plus there are little flecks of chocolate sprinkled in, though these were a bit drowned by the bitter chocolate flavour I paired the mint with. I was a bit confused about the size guide and how many flavours it equalled. I wanted a medium which according to the menu looks like three flavours but I when I ordered a cone the staff told me I could pick two flavours. Theres no illustrations for cones, just cups which may have led to my confusion... or I could just be reading it wrong. In the very back is a section of Italian food items to buy plus a few tables. If the tables are full though there are lots of bar stools on the side you can sit on. And if you need wifi they have that too! Just ask for the password. read more

I got the bitter chocolate sorbet and raspberry sorbet in a cup, and the combination was astounding. This was the first time I'd had chocolate sorbet. It tasted exactly as I imagined a chocolate sorbet would taste, yet the taste certainly exceeded expectations. A serious competitor for Scoop has just appeared in Soho. Not only the ice cream and sorbets are fantastic, but the staff is extremely nice and friendly. They offer you to try as many flavours as you want and never get impatient or loose the smile. I've been there twice and have tried bonet (chocolate + cafe + egg + rum, incredible but too dense for me to have a whole scoop), chocolate sorbet (really good, Scoop's is still better), ricotta + coffe + honey, coconut sorbet (the first time I find non-dairy coconut flavour, it was amazing), blackcurrant (so fruity!) and avocado & honey. The last one is my favourite so far, I love original flavours, specially if they are so tasty. To sum up, two visits in one week, and I already have the loyalty card. Oh, and I haven't tried the deli and don't really think I will, the gelato simply monopolizes all my attention. read more

Summer's coming! Which in my book only means one thing: ice cream! And I think I might just have found London's finest! Gelupo is a cute little ice cream parlour down Archer Street and was opened by the team behind always-packed Italian restaurant Bocca di Lupo. It's pretty hard to mess up gelato and the long lines at Gelupo at 22:00 show that. Be prepared to wait in line at this place as it seems to be filled with both tourists and locals. I had a mix of mint stracciatella and peanut butter. I am a big fan of minty ice creams so I usually order something minty at most gelato places I go to. Using the mint stracciatella as a mean of comparison, I would say that it was pretty good! I can see why people wait in line at night for this place and if I were ever to return to London and wanted gelato, I would definitely stop by. The only bad thing about this place was the attitude of the workers and the consistency. The cashier/server seemed very unhappy and gave us a lot of attitude when we wanted to order separately on different checks. I don't see why it is a big deal since everyone is in a line anyways and it seems most people were paying for their own. On top of that, they didn't offer everyone in our group the waffle chip which was a bit of a bummer as I would've liked one on top. read more

Get your fix here for some quality gelato. I tried the tairmisu gelato and there was even sponge cake inside the gelato. Coffee was fresh and strong. Prices are a little on the high side as the gelato was pretty small but it wasn't ridicluous. read more

Great ice cream in Soho. This tiny shop was so popular that it get busy very easily. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the right place for you. This little shop makes a wide range of flavours including sorbets. Staff were friendly and helpful. There were a few seats inside. I was glad to try some flavours which were exclusively sold here. Fig leaf was so reminiscent of my childhood. Pistachio was not very rich enough although tasty. Apple cake was a very impressive flavour with a generous amount of cinnamon crispy crumbs. I paid 5 pounds for three scoops in a cone. It would be better if the cone is not so hard to bite. read more

The texture and flavor were both very smooth for both of those flavors of gelato. The gelato itself is served with a complementary waffle cookie. I have to say Amorino (on Old Compton) used to be my fave but its getting quite commercial, and they keep opening up new locations - e.g. Camden. So as Amorino is more associated to a franchise, Gelupo stands tall as a cool unique hidden gem worth venturing into. read more

It's hard to go wrong with gelato - it's one of the few items I can categorically say I've never had a bad version of. But, there's something specifically awesome about how many versions of hot chocolate this place has too! It's also off the beaten track and still full of people, so you know Gelupo is doing something properly... I also love shakes and this spot doesn't over-charge for them, unlike some places, and so I had to blend the darrrrk choc sorbet with some morello cherry goodness. Fresh mint stracciatella and peanut butter blueberry was the perfect combo! You know this place is legit when there's a line at 10:00 pm and they close at 11:00pm. We went with the mint stracciatella and peanut butter blueberry because the flavors were super unique and thats also what EVERYONE before us was getting. So you can't go wrong when everyone in front is getting the same thing. The reason why it only got 4 stars was because of bad service. I get that it was busy and the girl was probably serving ice cream (non-stop) for a couple hours, but that doesn't mean you get to roll your eyes at us. She asked my friends and I if we were all together and we said no because we are paying separately. Then after she saw us talk to our friends, she accusingly said "I thought you guys weren't together" and then proceeded to roll her eyes at us. Uh.. excuse you lady. Oh wow! There isn't much to say about Gelupo other than it's absolute perfection. I tried the honeycomb gelato which had crunchy bits of honeycomb and was the perfect level of sweetness. The waffle cone was delightful and the perfect vehicle for the gelato. I've since returned to have hot chocolate which you can get with a scoop of gelato in it which is absolutely incredible! I tried it with a scoop of hazelnut ice cream so it tasted like nutella! Incredible and my favorite dessert spot in Soho! read more

Dragged kicking and screaming into this joint, find Chris salivating over the stupidly tastacular range of ice creams, frozen yogurt and ice shaving type stuff (it's all about the correct terminology folks!). Talk about a snowmans wet dream. Having um'd and aw'd for a awful long time, in which many a sample was devoured, categorised and yummed over, i finally plumped for an ice shaving extravaganza of sour cherry and almond stuff thingy, or the 'Bakewell Tart' as the owner described it. I stopped in here on my failed quest for pistachio paste. Someone on the interwebs claimed they purchased it here, and after looking at their website, I decided to go here to pick it up. I wandered through the deli in the back, and they had an amazing selection of Italian delicacies. I browsed for pistachio paste, but I didn't find any. I did find some white truffle cream, which I decided I needed. I also found some Saba which is apparently similar to balsamic vinegar, but it is made from boiled down quince. There's also a huge selection of oils and cookbooks, gadgets for use in the kitchen, and delicious looking snacks and sweets. I asked at the counter when I was purchasing about the pistachio paste. They were out. OUT! Foiled. She did convince me to try their pistachio gelato which I have to say was quite amazing. She tried to convince me just to buy that and claim I made it, but I didn't. Oh heavenly slobber fest, oh flavour-filled tongue-treats, oh mythical frozen delights from the wolves of some Italian fairytale. I can't *believe* I have to come back to London to ever sample the delights of this miracle again - Leeds does not cater for those who long for specialist ice creams, such as this. In fact, Leeds doesn't particularly cater for ice-cream fill stop. *Cry!* It was a special day that I came into Gelupo and was first introduced to the wonders of this delightful ice-cream. They have a variety of wonderful flavours in three different varieties of iced treats. I can't quite remember the names of each variety, but my understanding is that one was the full on creamy rich variety, the second is a sorbet variety and the third is like a shaved ice with delicious flavouring. You can, of course, ask the experts in the shop as they are seriously well versed in the world of gelato! After far too much "umming" and "ahhing" I went for the coconut sorbet and sour cherry shaved ice gubbins and, oh lord, it was frackin' amazing. The coconut sorbet was so delicious and creamy you'd be convinced it had milk in it - the flavours were amazing. Sour cherry was the perfect refresher mix and was better than any drink for quenching your thirst. I'm actually becoming jealous of my past self as I write this so I may just have to stop - there aren't words, this place is amazing. Seriously. Where have you been all my life Gelupo Wolf from the Gods? Come to Leeds! If I dance with the devil in the pale moonlight will you come to Leeds? My world for a coconut sorbet... I have to say "Nah" to Gelupo. It just did not live up to the expectations. Firstly, the gelato selection is limited and eclectic (not in an appetizing way). Coronation chicken flavor? hmmmm. I think ice cream should be left to the traditional flavour and ingredients. Secondly, the ice creams were hidden down a barrel like container not visible to customer. Perhaps I am used to seeing what I am ordering when I am at the gelateria. Thirdly, the serving portion is far from generous. Lastly, I think staff should learn to wash their hands in between food and money handling. I noticed that the staff serving us our ice cream grabbed the waffle cookie and nicely placed it on my ice cream took our cash and went on to serve the next customer. Last time I checked hand washing is the top requisite in food and restaurant business. Yes, the ice cream is tasty but just did not hit the spot. Sorbet or not sorbet, that is the question. Whether 'tis nobler... okay, whatever, you just want to know about the frozen treats don't you? Well. When we women find a food we want to get a room with, we often say we'd give up the love of a good [insert preferred gender if any here] for a bite of its deliciousness. Ladies and gents, during my time in Gelupo I had a date with a strawberry sorbet, and it felt like we were the only two entities in the room. I stuck firmly to the sorbet 'aisle' of the parlour, but I had a choice of creamier options as well as the crisp, crystallised wonder known as granita. Goodness me, Gelupo's strawberry sorbet was both creamier and fruitier than any ice cream of the same flavour I'd ever had. And it didn't even contain cream! Ditto the melon sorbet I also had a scoop of. These flavours are just so effortlessly captured by ice genius Peter and his crew of happy helpers who are more than content to let you try a spoonful of any flavour before making up your mind. From the classic to the adventurous, with more unusual options such as the sour cherry or almond granita our American friends loved to the honey and avocado concoction Elodie picked out, it's a veritable pick n' mix of natural, flavoursome deliciousness. After one of the worst apericena in my life (see salento green life) we went here trying to finally have something good: oh thanks gelupo, thanks for making me feel again in peace with the world! Very nice italian style ice cream store, you have a choice between 10-12 flavors and they told me they usually change from time to time, and that's very nice and I appreciate that in a gelateria! Every waitress is italian, and they are friendly and kind, oh my god it was like resurrecting from the underworld! Speaking about the ice cream: this is depending on what you like. Ice creams served here are watery, and for me that's what I wish for, so... excellent! but (for example) a friend of mine like them more creamy and milky so.... Just get in and try!! you'll surely find something you like and something you don't! for example, chocolate is just delicious in my opinion, as it's prepared as a sorbetto rather than as an ice cream, montebianco instead is much more creamy (and you want to buy a kg of it!!)
