So I arrived mega early for my passport appointment (I saved money doing so, so didn't mind that…read moremuch) After a 3 hour coach journey I was feeling the urge for a breakfast coming on! So I pulled up my fav app..you guessed right yelp of course! ;) in search of a near by cafe. The pot was the first one that showed on the search and with a decent review next to it's name and only being 100 metres away from my location it was the winner (after all who wants to walk miles for breakfast!) The cafe is located in a western arcade type row of shops which was nice, as the pervious review stated it isn't your every day greasy spoon cafe but at the same time it still has that homely none chain cafe feel which was a welcome surprise. The lady behind the counter told me to grab a table and she would be over to take my order. I went with "the big one" which was everything on the breakfast menu pretty much and I did remember not to say "full English" as I was in Wales after all haha. The cafe was pretty full and everyone seemed like locals to the cafe because the staff were chatting away happily with 90% of the people that were eating in. The food was lovely and arrived on my table really quick but you could tell nothing was rushed, if I had to pick a fault and this is only me being really picky it's the bread they served with the breakfast I always go for thick bread but this was medium (told ya I was being picky). But that takes nothing away from it being a really lovely local cafe with lovely staff if your ever in Newport and need breakfast make sure you drop in. I will be going again if I'm ever in Newport or passing through :)

Proper old fashioned cafe, a bit too nice to be called a greasy spoon, complete with plenty of…read moreregular customers who are on first name terms with the waitresses/chef and a middle aged pot washer with a dark quiff, pot belly and Elvis t-shirt. Very busy which makes for nice ambience even if it means you're ravenous by the time your bacon and eggs arrive (at least that means everything's cooked fresh to order.) I ordered a big breakfast which included a big mug of tea/fresh coffee for £5.50, after waiting 30 minutes for it to arrive (it was busy) the toast was perfect, nice thick white slices and not overdone, the fried eggs were also lovely and the portion of bacon, egg, black pudding, sausages, beans and tomato was enough to fill me up until the evening (and I'm a 21 year old 6' male). OK, so they can do a good fry up and a nice cup of tea, so should any half decent cafe, however they also had plenty of wholesome, home cooked dishes on the menu like steak pie and the desserts, including bread and butter pudding, were only £2; unfortunately their big breakfast had defeated me. In short: a relic and a gem.

Freakshakes in Bristol!…read more When I was told about this cafe selling Freakshakes in Bristol, I couldn't quite believe it. I thought that was just a Shoreditch deal. But no, this cafe really are selling some fine calorific freakshakes! It's a basic cafe inside, with a small fish tank (always nice to see fishies), there are even some sofas to sit on if you really want to get comfortable. I went on a Saturday lunch time, and even though there's quite a lot of seating available, the whole place was full. I had to make my order and sit outside for 10 minutes, luckily I sofa became available so I quickly nabbed my spot inside the warm cafe opposite the fish tank. We ordered 3 freakshakes, Invision Our Vanilla, Peanut Butter Passion & Raspberry Roulette, all of which were really, really good. They tasted amazing and they looked so freaky too. We did have these as a dessert and had ourselves some savoury paninis first, which were very tasty too, especially the BBQ Pulled Pork Panini. I'd totally recommend going to this place, even if it's just for a panini/sandwich and a coffee, but if you make the effort to go here you've really gotta have a freakyshake. Better yet, take someone who will be unsuspecting of this freaky creation, they will be surprised for sure. Thanks Beehive Coffee House, you made Bristol a much cooler city!

I got a sundae loaded with chocolate and it was good.  Service was good. They are open late.  Located in the city center with bars and shops nearby, the clientele was pretty eclectic the night I stopped in.  Atmosphere is nice and decor is unique. Well worth a stop for dessert.

It's a great option no matter how big your craving is, too. Menu options here when I stopped in included: gelato, sundaes, waffles, crepes, cakes, puddings, hot drinks, bubble-based drinks, milkshakes and smoothies! While a family member and I opted for some small cups of gelato, I have to admit, their sundaes looked impressive! But I wanted to be relatively good that day, so a small and tasty cookies and cream gelato it was. I actually regret controlling my gluttony that day. But hey, there's always future trips and future opportunities to indulge... Definitely take the time to stop on in sometime if you're in the area - whether you want to sit or get a splurge that's good on the go, you'll likely leave as happy as my travel buddy and I did!
