So, my sister and I, the unofficial "booking agents" for our family trip finally said piss on it and went with the "cheapest" family-option we could find in Murren. I'm not going to say the price because it's slightly embaressing given we had a shared bathroom...but for the sake of curiosity, think luxury hotel in America.
Despite our desperate splurge on what would be comparable to a national park/no frills establishment in the US, there were many perks to staying at Hotel Regina.
1.) Murren is the perfect-sized village - small enough to be tremendously quiet at night (so much in fact, we could hear the waterfalls outside our mountainview windows at night - - the waterfalls were all the way across the valley!!!), yet, big enough to have a mini grocery, stash of restaurants and plenty of starting points for hiking. Note: I highly recommend the route down to Gimmelwald and from there down another level to the bottom of the valley.
2.) Spacious mountain view porches with big windows and doors facing out towards a drop off (both open so you can let the outdoors in).
3.) A delicious and traditional complimentary Swiss breakfast complete with muesli, multiple cheeses, fruits and cereal. Not to mention, that the bright and airy room breakfast is served is breathtaking.
4.) Free wifi in the lobby - but who needs internet with they're in the Alps?
5.) The rooms, in my opinion, are gorgeous in a natural and simple way that beats out a fancy hotel any day.
