Super run down establishment. It looks abandoned. These really rude women and their kids took forever to order in front of us. The course has never been maintained a day in its life. While my girlfriend and I were playing the really rude women sat and talked while all 5 of their kids ran around and interrupted people's games. The kids kept picking up our balls and running around with them and the moms did not care. Shame people don't parent anymore! read more

I like to support local businesses, so when it hit 70° I popped over to a nostalgic old favorite: General Custer's. The soft serve prices are relatively expensive ($2.40 for a small dish) but they have a few unique flavor options. In the machine they have chocolate, vanilla, Dole lime and the infamous "King's Island" blue raspberry. You can also get ~35 other flavors as a mix-in (+$.60). I had the KI-clone blue raspberry, and have to say: it's not exactly a good rip-off of King's Island. It looked a bit too anæmic (pale blue). I was also disappointed to see a bit more of the historic exterior chipped away this season (RIP vintage neon General Chester's sign, my sweet prince). I mostly come here FOR the nostalgia, so once it's all gone I suppose I will be too. read more

I did something I literally have only done four times while living in Cincinnati for ten years now. I went to the west side. My least favorite side. I was sent a photo of creamy whip from this place and started reading about it. Decided to go as soon as it opened that day to hopefully have to have minimum human interaction. My plan worked and my boyfriend and I were the only two people there our a whole game until we were done and a small family came right then. When we got there a boy was working by himself and trying to get stuff ready for the day but he didn't act annoyed at all that we were already there. He was helpful on what course he prefers and nice. We ended up doing the 18 holes. Which was long enough for me in 94 degree weather at 11 in the morning. This place is very old school Americana style of putt putt. Everything is very self made and cartoon characters around the courses are crazy. They've obviously seen some stuff in their day; seeing how most of them are falling apart. Because they're falling apart we had a couple malfunctions with them when playing. The hole that had a giant rock looking thing on it, the foam was falling out of the bottom of the rock and my ball got stuck in it so we had to fish it out. Also, the hole with the T-Rex, it's hard to even hit the ball into the hole because you can't get under the dinosaur to hit it in. Then when you hit it in you have to get on your knees and crawl under it to get your balls out. The Putt Putt place was decent. I enjoyed it and that's what is important. I would drop $14 on it to do it again at some point. We got Creamy Whip afterwards and the woman working the window was super nice and helpful. We both got "Dreams Cones". My boyfriend got the one dipped in hot fudge with nuts. I got the one dipped in hot fudge with rainbow sprinkles. Both were amazing. They had a pretty big menu and it was decently overwhelming when we got up to it. So I'm glad the lady working was so helpful. They have lots of outdoor picnic tables and seating but we just sat in the car in the AC because we were melting. When Covid isn't a thing, they apparently have a game room and a Bungee jump thing for kids. My only real problems I had with this place are the course pieces are falling apart and my major thing is that they have a giant "Blue Lives Matter" flag on their course. Which grossed me out and was a big "What am I looking at on this Putt Putt course?" But also, not surprised coming from a place named after a guy who murdered a bunch of Native Americans. Ya know? I just want to play putt putt be taken away from reality for a minute. If you're stir crazy and need go get out of the house but don't want to be around a crowd of people. Or if you just want some good creamy whip, hit this place up. read more

A west-side staple! Okay, I know the putt-putt course is run-down. But it was still loads of fun and very reasonable -$7 per person, or play as much as you want for $2 more. Enough other players to make it fun, but not overcrowded. (Our visit was on Saturday night). The ice cream treats were very good. We heard while we were there that the place had recently sold and the new owners are planning improvements, which is good, but also planning to change the name, not good. Unless they change it to General Custard's, which makes a better play on words! read more

This place is a west side icon. Come for the golf and stay for the ice cream. The prices are ultra reasonable. This is the only place in Cincinnati to get Dole fruit flavored soft serve. The mini golf courses are in pretty rough shape. I'm not a hugely competitive guy but I do like my putting greens to at least have turf that isn't rippled and torn and has been replaced in the last 20 years. It's fine for little kids I suppose since they probably don't care. I will say, it ways nice to have a frozen chocolate covered banana during the 95 degree heat wave while we were there. All in all a little attention to some maintenance of any kind would be nice. read more

Updating this to one star. This place is a disaster for mini golf. I would bulldoze the place and start over. Absolute trash to pay $6 for this place. I wouldn't have fun playing for free if that tells you anything. The course is so mistreated that I wouldn't spend money for the ice cream. Instead I went to Graeters next door. First Tuesday of the month from 5-8:30 they have free putt putt. Put on your mosquito repellent. The bugs are ridiculous! I got 10+ mosquito bites during the hour we were there. The event is supposed to last until 8:30p.m. Bit the lights were shut off at 8 along with the bubble blower. The kids get to see Elsa and her sister too. Be prepared for the whole soundtrack of Frozen which I loved and sand along to just to annoy my kids lol. We had a good time. There are a bunch of interesting holes. Wow, this place has received a huge makeover in last two years! With new astro turf and fun obstacles in each hole, this place is a new family favorite! There are two different 18 hole courses. I bought a Groupon but it ended up being cheaper without it. I took my 6 year old and 3 year old and children 3 and under were free so I only paid for my 6 year old. It was $7 for the two of the to play unlimited golf! The adjoining creamy whip was reasonably priced and delicious too! They also have a bungee activity and arcade which we didn't do. read more

Been going to General Custer's since I was a kid. Used it as a hangout as a teenager and now as adults. We went there recently with our daughter and it's just run down. The course on the left (closest to the street) has the most attractions on it, but NONE of them work. The course to the right (far away from the street) has no attractions. It's basically just concrete obstacles to putt around, no fun stuff for kids. It needs a HUGE makeover. The courses are bumpy and the greens are lumpy so your ball doesn't roll right. The fun attractions on the courses don't even work anymore. The circus seal has an electric cord hanging over the top of it. The lion attraction has a big whole in it, the water is dirty in the "stream" and the elephant fountain near the bridge doesn't work. Not that I'd want it to work b/c I wouldn't want to get sprayed with the water there! I've been to much cleaner attractions. There is a huge pool area that is suppose to be used for a water "boat" type ride that I've never seen working. It just sits there with dirty water in it all season. Mosquito heaven. I'd love to see the courses fixed up and working like the ones in Gatlinburg! I would hate to see a Westside attraction go under for no up keep. read more

Back in 1977, I played Little League baseball sponsored by Northside Tavern. General Custer's also sponsored their own Little League team. We used to SMASH this team on a regularly basis, and THEN go to Custer's Ice Cream stand to celebrate, because coach was obnoxious like that. LOL. This place looks EXACTLY the same as it did back then. They don't appear to have done a damn thing to revamp the place. We played 18 holes of Putt-Putt and I felt like I was in a time capsule. The young cat attending the place was very nice though...so nice that he let some of his buddies in for free. I didn't want to go, but DMuse already purchased a Groupon and being the Queen of Frugal, there was no damn way she was gonna waste it. She didn't read the reviews before she purchased it...stuff happens. We didn't have Ice Cream there though. We went to Orange Leaf on Glenway instead. Orange Leaf is the bomb. read more

This is pretty well kept up and the holes aren't too cheesy or kid-oriented. Adults can have fun here, even without the kids. We played two rounds and that was enough for our attention span. Had some ice cream afterwards as it was pretty humid. Ice cream is run of the mill, which isn't bad but the prices are much more reasonable than Graeter's which is located right by. I like the location and parking is easy but I never would have known it was in this location as it is tucked away off Glenway, kind of next to Westwood Bowl. read more

Wow ! What a great place to come visit with the kids. The owners have gone out of their way to maintain and make a great environment for the people visiting this location. I am impressed with all the improvements made and the amount of activities available for the kids to do while there. The place is on the way up. They have new turf which makes the golf MUCH nicer. Still looks like the place could use a good scrubbing, paint and vaccum. Prices are good $7 for adult and $5 for kids on sunday afternoon. Bathroom needs attention, get rid of all the little.kids riding toys (why are they here????) and clean up all the planting beds and it would be a nice place for dates. Don't want to be too harsh, but this place is pretty run down and has gone downhill big time. Took my girlfriend there for some mini golf and ice cream. The putting surfaces were all in very poor shape and many times were impediments themselves since the carpet was peeling back and the wooden bumper frames destroyed. I don't think some of the greens have ever been replaced over 30 yrs, ever. Some of same features as when I was a kid, but just lacked the desire to be there. There's a new jump ride which was a waste of money. Put the money into the courses. It's very sad to me. Highlight was the ice cream. This was good as always. read more

Went here Sunday with my boyfriend and his 11 year old...had a great time! The course is cute..there are actually 2 - 18 hole courses here. It's nothing fancy but it's not a run down place....we all had fun and the ice cream tasted great on a hot day! I hadn't been here since I was young but had a Groupon and decided to go on over....was a great deal for an afternoon of mini golf.
