Wow! I was really happy with my service at GG. I ended up at this spot to get my car detailed because my friend has used them before. I made the appointment online, they have a pretty legit cancellation system in case something comes up and you have to cancel short notice. I liked that! When I arrived, they were ready for me which was great. Two gentleman tackled my car and got all of the crooks and crannies that im unable to reach. I sat in the lobby and worked (legit WiFi) and it took about an hour and 10 minutes. My car wasn't that dirty so I can imagine it might take a little longer if your car has some deep, detailed work it needs. They did a wonderful job and my car felt like new when I got in. They're easy to find off of Watson, and I really appreciated the customer service. I'll for sure return! read more

I had to wait just minutes for several people to come and dry my car thoroughly, even the bottoms of the doors. They always do a good job of drying, but also cleaning your car. I have my wife's car detail every 12 to 16 months Upon inspection, the car after the full detail, I noticed the rail on front driver side seat have a grease I pointed out to the employee and his response was do you want me to clean that? Excellent wash and a complete inside vacuuming are the highlights. The car went in super dirty after enduring the post-Thanksgiving snow storm on the highways, ergo salt, grime, etc. My only complaint is with the counter service at check out. So I gotta 26.00 wash inside and out they took great care of the driving thru the wash but then I noticed the equipment was very old..they didn't wash the mats they want $4 a mat then I returned because the trunk wasn't vacuum so i had to pay another $2 when i went to get change the lady was like oh you wanted me to add that ...I'm like it's taken care of..I just don't like been a charge for this and that when I've already paid for inside and out but that's how I feel read more

I've been to this carwash and detail center a couple of times and both times I've left wondering why I don't come here more often. My first experience last year was due to a trip we took in the summer which ended up in my backseat being dirty/stained. Let me premise by saying that I don't eat or drink in my car nor do I allow anyone to do so. I've had my car for slightly over 2 years now and I try to keep it washed and as clean as I can manage so the incident with my husband's step brother staininng my backseat really irritated me. Since we had planned on taking our dog to a vacation in Michigan with us, I decided to wait until after that trip to get my car detailed. So, by the time I took my car to finally get detailed, not only did it have the stained backseat (my interior is light), it also had some sand everywhere from when we took our pup to the beach and other general grime from her licking the window while we traveled. I ended up getting a lot of detailing done during my first visit, including a wash and came home very happy with the result. Not only did they manage to remove the stain in my backseat, the service was also exceptional! From the moment I called to make my appointment, they've made me feel like my business is important to them. The staff were very pleasant and the waiting room was comfortable. Fast forward to my most recent visit, I purchased an Express clean and vac online then called a month later to make an appointment. I've completely forgotten that I purchased the service. When I called, the lady on the phone asked if I wanted to add a wash as well. I did. Why not? They wash your car and hand dry them which is much better than air drying after I run my car through the wash. My online purchase only included my 2 row seating but I ended up adding a trunk cleaning as well. The work took about an hour but I don't mind the wait. Again, the service I received was more than satisfactory and the staff were amazing, friendly, and did such wonderful work on my SUV. I am currently enjoying driving around my clean car, thanks to the staff at General Grant! I cannot wait to return for another cleaning and might even take my husband's SUV as well soon. read more

It's really hit and miss here. I've tried other places and keep going back. I have to do my own little supplemental clean afterward in the crevices, but they get the brunt of it. I'm guessing that the express detail or full detail takes care of all the missed spots, but I haven't tried those. I've been here about 15 times and sometimes it's great and sometimes they don't vacuum the whole car, or other mishaps. Once I took my car for a $150 detail and it was horrible. After that, I've stuck to getting the $20 deal here and finishing the details myself. The wait can be long. Go at non-peak times. They also have a 10% student discount. Took my sedan in for a carwash, vacuum, and upholstery detail. Ended up adding on floor mats too for only $12! All in all I paid less than $100 including tip so I think the price is very affordable. They missed a small spot on my headrest but they allow you to inspect your car before paying so I asked him to go over it again and he happily did! Went here in November to get my car a long-overdue cleaning. Various levels of service are offered, with the exact features and prices clearly stated. Even choosing one of the lower-priced options (my car's ten years old) the wash and vacuum made my car shine, and felt pleasant to drive again. Disappointed. My first time there. Price point is great, so I know this is not a 4 hour qtip level detail, but I expect all areas to get a basic touch and shine. However, I immediately noticed they didn't even bother to vacuum between the seats and the door jambs (which they did fix). They did not seem to apply any kind of Armor All or anything to the dashboard. Worst of all, they did not clean the stick shift/cup holders/center console area AT ALL (which needed it), and when I opened the center console storage bin, that had not been cleaned at all either (and it also needed it). Employees were all very nice and professional. I wish I had noticed the area between the seats before I left so they could have fixed it. However, I did not expect to have to give the car a detailed inspection before leaving, I just expected it to be done. They have been doing this a long time, they should have this down pat. read more

Family owned business now being run by the third generation. You'll find friendly people and a great attention to detail. On my first trip we got an express detail which was a great value. It was so nice that we brought another car the same week. You can come hear for a quick (and inexpensive) wash and vac or get a full detail or anything in between. We live a distance away from this location,so membership wouldn't make sense, but will definitely be back when we're in the area or we'll make the trip when our car needs a good cleaning. After getting the car interior detail package this morning which came to $135 + $20 tip = $155, I have since found remaining grime in my car. The cleaner they used also does not smell good, and though I have aired my car out for a few hours at this point, I am still having trouble breathing comfortably in my car. We lived in St. Louis for several years and used General Grant's exclusively... we are that satisfied with the quality of service they provide. They do a thorough job on your vehicle & provide several options for you to select for your needs. The inside viewing windows allow you to observe your car as it goes through the automated wash tunnel. Then it moves to the lot out front where several employees will vacuum & hand dry your vehicle as well as perform any other cleaning options that you requested. We have never been disappointed and have used the minimum plans for quick washes as well as full service detailing and our vehicles always feel so refreshed when they finish. We moved to Iowa 5 years ago and lament our loss and have raved to friends & co-workers about General Grant's, what they are missing and what a real car wash is! We need one in Des Moines!!! As a self-proclaimed foodie, I eat food everywhere. EVERYWHERE. Restaurants, work, home, and....in the car. There have been many moments where, in my hunger-induced mania, I've resorted to scarfing down eats in my car. And when you try to eat in a moving vehicle, things happen. A crumb here, a crumb there...it all eventually adds up. Oh, it adds up, alright. It was bad. Real bad. How bad was it? It got to the point where my boyfriend didn't really like riding in my car with me. It got to the point where I was embarrassed to show friends the inside of my car (and if I did, I always prefaced it with a 'sorry my car is so messy!') It was SO bad that my boyfriend bought me a gift card to General Grants for my birthday and gently urged (read: BEGGED) me to use it. This was 5 months ago. Enter today. I finally found time in my schedule to hit up the General. I pulled into the parking lot and stepped out of my car. A surly woman growled at me to pull my car around the back if I wanted a car wash. Ouch! "It's my first time here..." I said meekly. I pulled around to the back and looked at the menu of services. They offer pretty much everything. I went with the full service car wash (clean outside of car and vacuum the inside) and the surly man (I'm sensing a pattern here!) gave me a ticket and showed me the door where I could wait inside. The inside of the place was pretty nice for a car wash establishment. There were windows where I could watch my car go through its cleaning cycle. After the outside was washed and dried, it was time for the inside to be cleaned. Yay! I think the guys did a pretty good job. A REALLY good job, even. There were a few gripes that I had (they vacuumed the floors, but not the center console), but for 14 bucks, I knew what I was getting into. I will definitely come back. I'm a little torn on how to rate this place. I mean, they did a great job on the car. It was shiny, the wheels gleamed, the paint sparkled...however, there was a rock in one of their drying towels and it scratched up the windshield a bit. I mean, just a bit, but come on, it was a 6 month old car and there's no replacing a windshield for just a scratch, right? I will say, the manager was good about calling back and dealing with the issue. The windshield is still scraped but he did give 3 free washes for our troubles. At least that's something and they didn't just blow the whole thing off. You have to commend a place for that at least. Also, this place was a little pricey. I guess if you go here, just do it with trepidation and make sure the towels are void of pebbles and such. I would say otherwise, it was a good experience. Just certainly far from perfect. read more

Very pleased with my first trip here! My car was pretty trashed from several seasons of not attentively cleaning. I finally hit my breaking point when I left my windows open during a rain storm...oops. There was this horrible musty smell that I couldn't get rid of. I purchased two packages to clean my car seats and floors, and added mat cleaning. It took a little over an hour, which isn't too bad considering it's the last day before a holiday weekend & they were pretty busy. My car is good as new!
