DONT BUY A USED RV HERE!! I purchased a used Motorcoach here in August of 2021 - and learned some hard lessons. Justin was my salesperson and he seemed very nice and helpful. I was really excited to make my dreams of getting on the road a reality. Justin said there had been a roof leak - it looked minor to my untrained eye - and he promised it had been fixed. It had not. I brought the rig back a few weeks later after a major rain and the ceiling in the rig got worse and was clearly holding water - yikes is right! The service department said they fixed the leak on the roof - but I was told that they don't do interior ceiling panels - so nothing was done on the inside of the rig. Here we are December and I finally took matters into my own hands - and took down the ceiling panel only to find - mold, standing water and an active leak still. Here are the lessons I learned - that I hope help someone else: 1) Insist on taking your potential purchase to a mechanic to check it out 2) insist on a test drive - outside of the parking lot (that's a whole different review) 3) Don't buy an RV if the word "leak" is used at all - even if they promise (more than once) that it's been fixed 4) And don't take the salesman's word for it - get it in writing Better yet - go somewhere else to buy an RV. Although I have not heard many good things about General RV, they had the rig I was looking for and I figured I would give them a shot. I anticipated the low ball offer for my trade in and was OK with the convenience of not selling it outright. That being said, I probably could have got another 5K or so if I sold it myself. After signing paperwork I waited for loan paperwork to come in the mail. After a month I contacted the salesman Derick and business manager Waseem. Waseem followed up he was off for 2 weeks ( apparently, with no coverage ) and would look into it. Derek didn't have the courtesy to reply and lost a customer. Apparently the finance paperwork was sent incorrectly to the bank. Followed up the next week since no one reached out to me and Waseem stated he was keeping a close eye on it. It has been 2 weeks and I have yet to hear anything. I contacted the bank myself and closed the loop, making a payment yesterday. An F for customer service. I will be looking elsewhere for my future camping accessories and services. read more

Sure, all RV dealers have a bad rep when it comes to warranty repairs but General RV has made it a fine art of criminality. Awning broke, they said it should be in by the time it takes to get an appointment, in three months. Appt comes, no awning. Three more times they lied to me and said it wasn't in. I checked with Thor, they said General RV had received it around November 29th, about a month after RV was purchased. I asked them to call General Rv, sure the rep said, crickets, not a word. So one or both are lying to me, a Service Connected Disabled Veteran, so don't thank me for my service, it wasn't for you. Buy a Coachman, anything but a Thor because if they can't stand up honorably for a customer against a dealer, they are . . . well, I won't use all the words I learned during my military and federal service. VETERANS BEWARE, we deserve better. I'd donate it to a charity but that would be lower than these guys. read more

Wow, worst experience ever with service department. I have never left a terrible review for any company but am doing so now. We bought a $150,000 rv February of 2022. Right from the start we had terrible service, we drove an hour to pick up and wasnt ready. Went back over a week later and waited 3 hours for it to be ready. Last time it was there was for 5 months, went to pick up today and still wasnt ready. Mechanic actually told my husband he hopes our RV burns to the ground. Seriously what? Are you kidding me. So many more problems beforehand, but too many to list. We would never ever buy from this store again.....Totally regret this purchase! This is for the General RV in Brownstown, MI. Dean is the head of service department there and of no use at all. This business doesn't deserve any stars. Worst company I've ever dealt with in 35 years. read more

I am corresponding this evening in regard to my recent, and what I have determined what will most likely be my final interaction with General RV of Brownstown, Michigan. My wife and I bought a new Forest River / Primetime Tracer 274BH RV from this dealership in 2018. When we bought the unit, we decided to purchase the warranty thinking that it would be an asset in the event of some unfortunate accident or component failure. Needless to say this too has been a huge and costly disappointment and seemingly isn't worth the paper it's written on. Within the first year we had a wall that bowed out between the kitchen and bedroom, so much so that we could hardly slide the door into the open position without removing the wallpaper. It took about a month to get an appointment. We brought the RV in from approximately 62 miles away and made liaison with Adam and Amorette who took down notes regarding the area of concern, this seemed like a straightforward approach and felt that this would be remedied in short order (about a day or two). While there, they discovered that the issue was not fixable within the time frame they had estimated, nor with the materials on hand, and therefore would be required to order additional parts. They proceeded to tell us that we needed to come get our RV and get it off the lot immediately. Unfortunately by the time we were notified of the need for removal, we were out of town due to a family illness and not in position to immediately return. We were then told if we could not remove it that they would impose lot storage fees. Clearly had this been stated to me beforehand, I would have made it a point to be available for at least a week till the parts came in. I was dumbfounded to say the least and felt this was just an attempt to compensate for them having to do warranty work (a shameful money grab to say the very least). Fortunately the Manager Jason intervened and put an end to that nonsense in short order and for which we were grateful. Unfortunately this year the DRIVE wall mount10A / 12V. DC, AM/FM Radio, DVD, USB, Bluetooth unexpectedly quit working in late June or very early July. I finally had time off from work to address this issue sometime between July 20th and July 27th.July 27th at 14:08 initiated conversation with Amorette (attached a photo of the radio). Initially, she forgot to follow up on the issue so it didn't get ordered.The next correspondence from her was August 14th, at 17:48 wherein she stated the radio was ordered and was a direct replacement for mine, she would let me know when it arrived.On August 24th I asked for an update at 17:05.Amorette responded on August 25th, at 0922 stating she was going the parts department to get an estimated time of arrival. On August 26th Amorette stated that "the factory is still trying to find the part??" Needless to say I was confused given that she had previously stated it was ordered and pending shipping. Today, September 28th, 2020 we received a phone call stating that the radio was in and ready for pick up pending of course the payment of $100.00 deductible for a $140.00 radio. Upon my arrival I asked to speak with Dean the service manager. I waited for approximately 10 minutes while he concluded some business with another individual. Upon being invited into his office clearly we were not alone, there sat before me Jared, another individual who we had recently had a phone conversation with that was equally unproductive. I didn't expect to be meeting with Dean and Jared, just Dean, but nonetheless I proceeded and got right to the point and stated that I was displeased with how long this has taken for a simple radio, being told that it wasn't initially ordered, to the radio was ordered, and ready to ship, then they had to find it. Per the common excuse these days, Dean went right to the COVID-19 excuse, citing disruptions in logistics and such and said that was "the only story." I thought I would come unglued. As the coronavirus initially spread in the United States, we witnessed the commercial effects, such as supply chain disruptions and the like. Does the coronavirus excuse non-performance under the relevant agreement by lying to the customer? The short answer is "no it does not." I am willing to bet my service / warranty contract for that RV does not have the specific terms of a force majeure clause? You know, the clause that excuses non-performance typically where circumstances make performance impossible? Nothing in this endeavor was impossible. Moving on from that I proceeded state our "conditions of satisfaction," I requested that Dean waive the $100.00 deductible at which time he balked and said "no" I told him that given the lack of integrity on their end as of late, being without a radio all summer, the countless emails and phone calls that we made (our time is valuable too) that my request is not unreasonable. read more

Beware of the the finance managers here at Brownstown....my husband and I were going to do a trade in and purchase a momentum for 63,999 ..long story short by the time we sat down to sign papers we were at 74,200 ...we looked at the itemized sheet... they charged us the msrp 78,000 and then scattered the numbers to try and make sense.. told us they would pay for an awning...but it was in our finance sheet...told us that they were rolling over gap insurance from our current camper... come to find out you can't roll over gap so they charged us 895.. they threw in options without even asking us if we wanted it or not. Not to Mention 611 for 15 years??? I think they are in business for more than just selling campers..I'm glad we quit signing papers and walked away ..we will take our money somewhere else. read more

I purchased a 2020 clipper 1285 in June 2020. I have never owned a camper before and let's just say they took advantage of that. I have owned this camper for almost 3 months and I have over 30 issues with it. I have used it two times and each time I've used it I continue to find more issues. General RV and the manufacture Have Not and refused to fix some of the issues. I would never buy anything from them especially the Brownstown one. DO NOT TAKE YOUR RV HERE FOR REPAIRS OR INSPECTION!!!!! Do not make the same mistake my husband and I did!! If i could give this place 0 stars i would. completely awful decision that we took our camper here & now we are OUT 20 THOUSAND DOLLARS & they claim "no responsibility", and will not even refund us for the shit "inspection" they did for us. We purchased our camper from a person who brought it only to this location for its entire life. When we bought the camper we brought it in for a full inspection & we were leaving to travel nurse & live out of it full time & wanted to make sure everything checked out. We spent $2300 on the "full inspection" for them to clear us & tell us everything was great except sealant in the bathroom window which we had them fix. Not even 6 months down the road.... severe water damage that we have had multiple different RV places assess that state it has been there a long time & clearly due to faulty seals THAT THIS ESTABLISHMENT cleared us on 6 months ago!! How can you say your certified service department & clear someone and then this shows up? It's clear they are incompetent and should not be trusted with your investment because you will run into issues as they are NOT equipped to inspect & service campers professionally. Now we have been living in mold putting our health at risk, due to the water damage that has been there an extensive period of time, and our camper has been deemed total. When we tried to call they tried to avoid our calls multiple times & then we're pricks and told us they can't do anything to help us nor claim responsibility. Do yourself a favor, don't make the same mistake & take your camper to somewhere that is more reliable & educated. We took our camper here for services mid-july last year for a repair. We looked into upgrading when we went to pick up the camper. We found a camper we liked. Filled out the paper work. The salesman was helpful but the finance guy was less than helpful. It was a Saturday. We needed him to add my name on the application but he didn't want to do it until Monday because he thought our CU would be closed. As we left we called the CU and they were indeed open. So we ran back in and told him but he didn't want to do it until Monday. We left, leaving our camper there because we had planned on trading it. Well over the weekend we decided to just stick with what we had for now. They called us Monday with the approval but I said we were no longer interested. When my husband went to pick up the camper he watched them pull around and drop the jack without the foot out. They broke the jack and wouldn't put another on. They said it would be roughly 200 for the standard. My husband ended up buying an electric one and put it on himself. They also forgot to put our plate back on but they sent someone out to put it on for us which was cool. I truly feel they took advantage.of my husband who's primary language was not English. I called them very upset and spoke with a woman named Angel. She said she was going to talk to the head honcho and see what she could do for us. I never received a call back. I will go the further distance to birch run from now on. read more

I purchased a 2018 Keystone Passport. The first fall, the furnace went out. Extra fun with my daughters in 30 degree weather. I brought it to General RV for the repairs. They replaced the furnace, but did not put the protective shield around the wires. So, the furnace failed again the following fall. General RV did nothing to make this right even after both Halloween camping trips were quite unpleasant. Especially after they didn't properly repair the furnace the first time. This summer, I have a leak and am looking at a $500.00 bill to fix the roof that is two years old. Like others here, I purchased the Cornerstone coverage, which denied the claim. So, a 2 year old camper has had the furnace faily twice and now has a roof that has holes and is in need of significant repair. And from General RV, nothing but a bill. Mind you, this was the model that General RV sales people recommended when I went to a trade show in the spring of 2018. Prospective buyers, be wary of General RV, Keystone RVs and any protection plans that are recommended. My girls and I love camping, but I will be far more cautious when purchasing my second RV down the road (or sooner if this one keeps falling apart). read more

The only reason there are any stars is because our salesman Justin is fantastic, that is where any good thing ends at this particular General RV. We had to purchase our RV site unseen and have it delivered from Florida. We were told we had to pay $2500 so that General RV would go over the whole unit to make sure it was in good working condition...This part was skipped entirely. After taking delivery all the issues started. The tanks weren't hooked up so all water and fecal waste emptied into the bay instead of the tanks, we found out later this was never hooked up from the manufacturer since the tools were found right in the area where they were supposed to hook it up. The shower drained into the wheel well. There was sever water damage to one wall with no explanation (later found out the roof was not sealed in several places causing heavy leaks). Missing case for the fuse area in the front engine...that was going to be ordered for us but never was. Many other little issues, heater broken, then the thermostat was broken, leans so far to the left they tell us this is normal and can't shim it so everything slides to one side. Headlight broken, two taillights not attached properly so filled with water. Random screws not attached or missing altogether. When I call to complain they tell me to talk to service. I have now had 4 service sessions at a different General RV where I spent more time and mileage and gas and still have not been able to take a true camping trip. Won't even give the $2500 back for the job they never did. Buyer beware or skip altogether. Paid for a brand new rv to avoid all of this. Feel as though we have been robbed and this was a massive purchase for us. Beyond upset. read more

These people do not care about their customers and once they have your signature, they are no longer responsive to any complaints you have. First Time buyers We just bought 2018 Jayco Jay flight265RLS First off the Sales Representative Charlie and Business Manager Kiel the were very nice helpful respectful in every possible great job guys. This young lady I thank her name is Sara that did the walk through and show us how to work every thing and what it was for did a wonderful job showing us every about our trailer, any questions we had she answered them. she even showed us every thing we would need to set up our camper once we got it. Upon inspection of our 2018 Jayco Jay Flight 265RLS. We did find a few things wrong there is a chip in the counter also where the counter is joined together behind the stove there is a gab in the counter top where the meet on both sides and over time if water or moisture were to get in there it would warp also the trim around the counter was coming off. the sink has scratches in a few places Sara told us that every thing would be fixed I told her that I want a new counter i did explain to that is a new trailer and I did not want it fixed but a new counter top and for every thing to be sealed. that I would not except delivery of our camper unless every thing was done and done right It is a brand new camper and there should be nothing wrong with it. she said she would see what could be done. We have not even used it yet so no reason for the scratches on or in the sink or a the counter to be chipped. None of that is her fault she did not build the camping trailer. It is Jayco's for not inspecting there product be for they send there camper to dealer ships to sell them. Also the dealer ship holds some responsibility too. Let see what happens and if it gets fixed and done right. read more

This is a first class place. I recently rented an RV from General RV for a Michigan vacation. The RV they provided was brand new and in fantastic condition. My husband & I ordered a Jayco Eagle fifth wheel from General RV last Feb 2017 from the Monroe camper show. We were suppose to get it in6-8 wks. It ended up being 6 mos. Instead. We were very patient, but excited to use it when it finally was delivered in August. We were told it was inspected at the factory in Middlebury and again at General RV. When we did our walk-thru, we found several things that were missed in their inspections. #1 being a hole in the living room slide-out that they tried to hide by stuffing a piece of black foam in it. We took it camping twice while parts were ordered. We have had a pop up & 2 travel trailers and never had any problems. I expected to have quality materials used in a $60,000 RV. The mattress is terrible with no support, but it has 2 indentations where we sleep only 2 times! It must have come from a Dollar Tree in China! We have complained, they said that is where they cut costs!! We are very disappointed to spend this much money and be this let down . A friend of mine bought a Jayco travel trailer which had a pillow top mattress, it cost half what we spent for our fifth wheel! read more

This post is to talk about the General RV in Brownstown no others just that one. I purchased my Motorhome in 2018. If you know me, you know that I love and adore my GROOT (my RV's name) This purchase was also bought with a five year BUMPER to BUMPER warranty. However, when you take it in to get some of the things that need to be fixed done, you get treated pretty shabby, and they just basically blow you off and say, sure we can fix it AT YOU COST!!!! One would think bumper to bumper includes everything but no way, NOT THERE. I just left there and was treated very poorly & very rudely. I left basically almost in tears. I AM ANGRY!!!! and I would not recommend this place to anyone at this point. I was warned by other RVErs not to go there or purchase there. But I knew someone there I thought I could trust and wanted to shop locally, so I did any way. My mistake . The manager Dean acted as though he really didn't give a poop and said "sure they could look or fix my problems, but there would be fees for EVERYTHING they looked at!!! I will be sharing this post to EVERY GROUP I AM A PART OF!!!! Again, I'm anger, disappointed and I'm warning you NOT TO SHOP THERE OR BUY THERE!!!! read more

We were passing through on our way from Virginia to Northern Michigan. We were having issues with our jacks. I was getting low voltage warnings which would prevent the jacks from retracting. We have the Atwood Level Legs which are electric. I suspected that our batteries were getting low and we wanted to get it checked out before moving on. We noticed that we were very close to the General RV service center in Wayland MI. I called before they opened and left a message for the Service manager Tony. My first surprise was that I got a call back very shortly after they opened. Tony had passed on my request to Trevor and asked him to call me back. I explained the situation and Trevor told me to bring it in ASAP. They had a full load but he said they would try to work it in. We brought it over and then went off to take care of a few errands. They were working on it when we returned. This was the second surprise. Very shortly after Trevor came out and let us know that they checked out the batteries and the jacks and all checked out. We were really pleased with the news. We thanked them, paid our bill (which was very, very fair as well), thanked them again and then went on our way. We did not buy our RV from them and we have never done business with them previously. We just showed up and we were treated like a desired customer. It was a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend this place and this team. My hats off to Tony, Trevor and their team! Thanks again! read more

Would not send an enemy to this place! They are a rip off and sell damaged and incomplete RV's as new. Then when you try and talk to the service department they will say they will say the VP of the service will come out and make sure everything will be taken pictures. He will agree and take pictures and give his 'personal cell number' but does anything get done, NO! Another person from our campground moved in and bought another'NEW' RV from them, funny there floor was totally rotted out and took them a long time and hassle to get it fixed. update to previous review. general rv has terrible terrible service. after i left my first review on how they had it 13 days and didnt do anything, never returned phone calls and had no idea who was doing what. well auto valu helped us locate the motor for our slide out(company had hundred of them) it cost us 300 bucks and we put it in ourselves in less than an hour. in 13 days general rv who claims to have access to lots of parts couldnt find this part that we found in 10 minutes and we had in 3 days and repaired in one hour. again they claimed the part couldnt be locatedso i can tell they tried real hard in the 13 days they had it!!! would not recomment this company to anyone at all!!! Very helpful and impressive while you are looking and buying. After I purchased though it went down hill! My only must to buy was a washer dryer. Yes they said it has washer and dryer hookups and we will have it ready, I even ordered washer and dryer from them to be sure service can hook it all up right.Paid a large sum plus the extra for them to prep it. Had to wait 2 weeks for units. I live in rv so when I picked units up-they would not fit because the way service put the dryer vent in. I took rv to them to put them in. It took ALL DAY for them to put it in. Get back to where I am going and do a load of laundry-had to turn it off immediatly as my rv was flooding. Then tried dryer out-it is not hooked to vent. It is just hanging in back of dryer! Which I forgot to mention they tried to charge me 600. and some dollars for putting this in which I already paid for this added on to my purchase. Which I did not pay any extra! If I had not noticed the vent was not hooked up it would have been a FIRE hazzard. Also when I first pull off lot after purchase I set up then when I go to leave my location my big slide wont go in. I had to have people help push it in.I ask them to check it out-they did and tell me the motor is not big enough for that room! Well I guess that is my problem now not theirs! i paid 1000. to have unit checked and fixed before I picked it up. Then they want to sell me a warranty for 2950. I also have 2 friends that purchased NEW from General RV in Florida and has had nothing but problems and they want them to buy a warranty for 4000. I guess warranties are more when buying new. My unit is a 2013 and I paid a pretty penny! I had a friend come in and put dryer in for me. Now it is sitting on floor in my closet because it is the only was dryer vent which General installed will work! I would not recommend General RV to anyone! read more
