Hands down, Abra made our event a great success. She was a consummate professional - she had obviously paid close attention to the documents we send her and knew a great deal about our group and was extremely well prepared for the event. As a small group dedicated to pediatric oncology at UCSF, she helped us raise a significantly greater amount of money than we had anticipated, which will go far in helping this population in need. She obviously enjoys her job, which clearly helped put everyone present at ease and kept them engaged throughout the night. We received too many compliments about her from guests to count. She was not only phenomenal the night of the event, she also helped us with preparation, and assured us that the evening would go well while we were panicking at the last minute! Abra Annes-Sills was amazing as auctioneer for the Fund-a-Need at the AJWS at 30 gala on Tuesday (03/15/16). She galvanized over 350 people, taking an inspiring and serious issue - human rights - and turning it into a playful expression of people's support. Her jokes and rapport with the audience were tasteful and effective. We raised 3x what we had hoped and I have no doubt that Abra deserves full credit for this. The Fund-a-Need was done for the first time at our events and we were justifiably apprehensive. Abra promised at the first exploratory meeting that she would be there for us at every stage of planning and preparation, as well as execution, and she was good for her word. Abra is absolutely amazing! I had never put on an auction fundraiser before and Abra made sure everything was taken care of. Not only did she make everyone at the actual event have a good time and feel good about donating but she was incredibly helpful during our planning. She helped us make a plan to get the word out and get everyone excited about attending our event. The day of our event it was raining and everyone showed up soaking wet. I attended 2 fundraising events where Abra ran really successful live auctions. It is absolutely amazing to me how she gets the audience motivated and uses a bit of ingenuity and pizazz to spark interest in auction items, and she even created new items on the fly (like having the keynote speaker sign a $1, and then sold that for a lot of money).
