Took a prom dress to be cleaned and altered. We were shopping around for a seamstress to fix beading on the back of a dress and add skin toned mesh material to the bust for modesty. After speaking to the seamstress and describing our desires IN DETAIL, she advised she could fix the beading. I also asked to add skin toned mesh to the bust of the dress for modesty. I specified that if it could not be done or if she could not find the material that it is fine and it could be left as is. All we needed was the beading since the dress fit perfectly and Asked to add the skin colored mesh but we thought why not hem it too since it was offered. This part was offered and not requested but I did accept. I called a 3 days after the pick up date and the dress wasn't ready so I asked when it would be and then they said a few hours. Seemed strange but we were excited. When we picked up the dress, the beading was never touched at all. The bust was patched with a square piece from the bottom of the dress. The dress still had a slight smell (prior to dropping off the smell was stronger because it was stored for years which is why it needed to be cleaned). On top of that, the dress and HAD STAINS THAT WERE NOT THERE BEFORE. My daughter was heartbroken and disappointed. The owner reduced our bill from 87 to 40 but I'm upset that I paid anything being that they ruined the dress, stained it, didn't clean it thoroughly , hemed it incorrectly, added the wrong material to the bust and didn't touch the beading which was the entire point of bring the dress in. We came out WORSE by bringing the dress in than we would have if we didn't bring it at all. I ended up LOSING AND EXTRA 100 dollars after bringing it to another dry cleaner and another seamstress. Not to mention this added weeks of trouble. Thank God I am a planner and started 6 weeks in advance of prom or we'd be out of luck. Things are too expense to pay 2 and 3x for the same service. After telling the story to a few people I realized they had the same issue with the same place. Sorry for the long post but I felt it was my duty to warn others. read more

I came with a formal chiffon wedding dress stained and shoved in a closet 10yrs ago. It looked impossible with mud and drink stains. It was truly in horrible condition. My husband took my "mother of the groom" dress to the Cazenovia Branch of Genesee Dry Cleaners and was given a quote of $27.50 for the job. A couple days ago, my daughter in law stopped in to pick up the dress for me but did not have our quoted note with her. The attendant at the counter told my daughter in law that the cost was now $45.00. When called and told of the charge change, I decided to go pick up the dress myself instead and brought the quoted receipt with me. I was very polite and stated that the quoted price needed to be honored, especially since the dress would be in need of a second cleaning due to obvious soiled spots left on it. The attendant graciously got on the phone with the "owner down town" which I assume was in Syracuse. He then spoke with me. I politely explained the situation. He told me he did not want to argue with me and agreed to the originally quoted $27.50 and then rudely stated that I could take my business elsewhere. With that he abruptly hung up on me. Not impressed. I will most certainly take his advice and take my business elsewhere. I strongly recommend others do the same. read more

My father, who is in a wheelchair, needed a new zipper on a jacket. Since I am not from the area, I found some good reviews for this place and brought the jacket in for my dad. I give a positive review for price and time it took to get the job done. What drags down this review is the customer service my father received when he went to pick this jacket up. He pulled up in front of the store and called them up and told them that he had a jacket to pick up and he was in front. He then said he is disabled and was wondering if they would be able to bring it out to his car. She said yes, and then, the clerk seemingly thinking that she had already hung up the phone, proceeded to say, "This guy is unbelievable to want us to bring this out." First, make sure you hang up the phone. But second, have some compassion or at least don't say something like this. read more

In March 2016 we had a fire in our home's laundry room and we without a washer and dryer for about a year. During this time, we discovered Genesee Cleaners and got to know them very well since we were dropping off all of our laundry for their wash and fold service a few times per week. And for our family of 5 we have a lot of laundry accumulate. The owner Steve and his staff became regular fixtures in our lives over the year, and I can't say enough about what a positive experience we had with them. The staff took the time to get to know us and our 3 kids. They were kind and friendly and very accommodating to any special request we made. Beyond just regular laundry and dry cleaning, they handled several unique items with care and special attention. Their prices are fair and reasonable, they are quick, and they do quality work. For example, we inherited all of my spouse's grandmother's linens, which were old and yellowed. They have an older woman on staff who hand washed and dryed each piece. They came out beautifully! Owner and staff are very nice and reasonable. Brought in shirt to get stain removed. After seeing the stain wasn't completely removed, he offered to wash it again. However, in the end, the stain still remained with perhaps 80% removed. Still a good job and very friendly and helpful. Can't really blame them for not being able to remove all of the stain. I would definitely come back and try out their other services. Seems reasonably priced. They are also very fast and can return within a day's time should you need it. read more

This cleaner is on the way to my office so I chose it out of convenience and the lady that works there is nice. There is an abrasive, loud man that, I believe, is the owner or manager. I really tried to continue patronizing them, but every other time I brought my clothes home, they were not cleaned well. I started pointing out spots and they still were overlooked. They do not include a note such as "we were unable to get a spot out" like other cleaners do, so you never know until you bring your clothes home. Put simply, they don't do a good job. read more

The best! I was looking for a seamstress for a bridesmaids dress and some other clothes that was close to work and with hours that are convenient. I stopped by the Genesee dry cleaners and they were amazing! The seamstress was able to work with my schedule so I could come in after work in order to fit the dresses accurately. The owners were extremely helpful and kind during this whole process! My other clothes were said to be ready on Friday and the bridesmaid dress the following Friday. I stopped in the Monday in between the Friday's to pick up the first set of clothes, and to my surprise the bridesmaid dress was all ready for me! Dropped off a suit for dry cleaning and pressing. Very accommodating with drop off and pick up times. Cheap prices compared to a larger dry cleaner I had been going since they could clean on the Saturday I needed my suit. Little did I know I would have my suit returned only pressed and not that well. There had been a small bit of sauce on one sleeve and bottom pant leg that I specifically asked to be cleaned and when I got home with the suit the caked on sauce was still there! It's like they took my money and didn't clean it at all. I was desperate but now I learned my lesson to stick with the other more professional dry cleaner down the road. read more

I can only speak for the tailoring side but if you need patches sewn to a vest I wouldn't recommend bringing it here. I brought a $300 vest and patches to be sewn and very disappointed with the final product. They sewed a pocket closed and some of the patches weren't even straight. Now I have to probably pay someone double to fix thier mess. If I didn't hate lawyers so much I might go after them for the cost of fixing it. read more

Highly recommended! We brought in a huge bag of wet laundry after our machine broke in the middle of the cycle. The business charges for laundry by the pound, but the owner of the business was so friendly and helpful, and he weighed the clothes after it was dry (and much less heavy).
