Crazy this small town of Geneseo has two breweries. Geneseo Brewing is the second one of these we visited on a stop. It's located in downtown, or what can be considered that. A smaller one but it's not cramped. The beers are the main thing, but there's also light fare like chips, flatbreads, and more. Beers are what they're known for. It's a pretty good selection for the space they have. To be honest, the place is bigger than it looks. A lot of classic styles to choose from. It's about $7 a pint. That's not bad for a small craft brewery though. Got a few. The best was the Yep Yep. It's an American IPA. Pretty strong at 7.5% ABV, so drink responsibly. As for the food, it's pub fare. It's about $6 for Chips And Salsa. Good eats. There's also flatbreads with cheese and meats if looking for something more filling. Everyone comes for the beers. It has an amazing amount to choose from. The food isn't as special but it's not bad though so whatever. read more

If you want good food that's not the typical bar food fair, then GBC is the place to go. Everything tastes fresh and you can tell they use top quality ingredients. The service is great here. Three stars isn't meant to be a negative review just my ideas of minor improvements that would take it to 4-5*. I got the pulled pork nachos to go and it is the first of this item that I have gotten that was deconstructed - chips (could have been more) were in the bottom of a 12" pizza box with all the toppings in their own containers. Cheese was a queso (better than shredded cheese all day) that was a strong average (could definitely have been more) the rest of the toppings were ok except the pickled jalapenos which had I got them at the grocery store I would have switched brands. Like that it was deconstructed and has a lot of potential with a few tweaks. Good service but not busy at 3 on a Saturday afternoon. read more

I used to love this place when it was a brewery. Now it's a part time brewery and restaurant. The food is good but most of the beer is made by someone else. The best beer was squirrels nuts but they no longer have it and even if they make it again they will run out and leave everyone in a lurch again. They need to get a full time brewer if they want to call themselves a brewery. read more

I have heard great things about this brewery so we decided to check it out. We got to the brewery as soon as they opened. Pretty cool in side and plenty of room to seat. You can see the equipment from inside the seating area. The food was excellent and I got a flight of different beers that were fantastic. Our waitress was extremely nice. We haven't been here in over a 1 year and a half and decided to stop by again. We came for the wings that they used to serve from next door (this was before they had a full kitchen menu), only to found out they dont serve them anymore. They were delicious! Anyway our waitress was amazing and she gave us time and wasn't too invasive. My fiance ordered the Hawaiian sliders with salt and vinegar chips and I ordered the spicy mango pulled pork sandwich with "homemade fries." Our food arrived under 15 minutes, if that. When I got my plate I was disappointed to find their "homemade fries" were skilled chopped red potatoes, they were not pleasant. Stay away from the potatoes. They spicy mango pulled pork sandwich was not spicy but it was very tasty nonetheless. Other than that we had a good time and enjoyed the service. read more

I want to like this place. I really want to like this place. But I don't. For lots of reasons. This was the second time we were here. Both times, relatively small parties are extremely loud & they certainly kept the drinks coming. I get loud. I do not in any way understand cackling & screaming in a restaurant (or why management allows that!). Our server was friendly, but brought us the wrong appetizer. We're got our flatbreads immediately after she brought us our chips. And the flatbreads were not even warm. Far from hot, but couldn't even be called warm. The beer was good. Just wanted to say that I visited your facility on saturday September 28th and tried several of your beers. I opted for a growler of ogres have layers and a can of squirrels nuts. My only concerns are the lack of knowledge from the young bartender. When asked pricing for the growler, she informed me that the ogres have layers is more expensive because it has hops.... I asked if it wasn't because its 8 abv... she said no, it's because it has hops. Secondly, while filling my growler, she did not use a customary rubber hose on the tap to keep it from foaming while filling the growler. This was weird, but I thought maybe it's the way they do that here. It was obvious it wasn't right, not when I opened the growler that night, but the next day when I had to dump half of it because it was completely flat. I collect growlers and have never had one for flat the day after opening it. Just some FYI's, because I do think the beer was pretty good. On a side note, she kept referring to growlers in 32 or 64 oz. I know technically they both are, but universally accepted with every brewery I have ever been too is 32oz is a howler and 64 is the growler. What a gem! I only had one beer, the Yep Yep, which is one of their IPAs. It was tasty and most of their beers are only $5....which is pretty darn reasonable. Food! The food was very good! I had the Chipotle chicken wrap. Smaller portion size, but the price is smaller too. If you've got an appetite, get a side salad with it. My daughter completely out-ordered me, getting their shrimp tacos. Sonofabitch, they were awesome!!!! Great flavor, they've got guac on them.....dude...these things made my night. My husband and I came here for lunch after the Christmas walk last Saturday and it was awesome. I had the BLT which had tons of bacon on it. My husband had the Cuban and it was very good. This place is the worst. I don't know what's in that back room, but the employees sure spend a lot of time there. The beer was way too sweet and we heard the bartenders (using that term loosely) that two of the house beers were the same, just different colors. I guess that's why most of the few people there were drinking bud light bottles. The staff was eh and the older lady behind the bar was wearing open toed flip flops. THATS JUST NASTY. The food was good but they charged 9$ for chips and dip. I would not recommend this place. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. Place is nice and clean. Right away notice the bartender is the only one working the bar and about 7 tables. We did get out drinks in a timely manner, beer was somewhat disappointing. We got appetizer and one of their pizzas. Well they would have been better off serving frozen bar pizza because the sauce was straight out of a can and killed what might have been a decent flat bread pizza. Anyone who builds their brewery in an old butcher shop is alright by me. I enjoy the quirky atmosphere - tables made from industrial springs, chairs upholstered in patchwork quilts, and deep/ comfy booths - and the beers are alright as well. I haven't tried much of the food, but everything I saw looked great and the crowd seemed to be enjoying it. I recommend getting a flight of their beers as you'll want to try more than one. Wonderful staff, quality food, a great atmosphere, live music on Fridays and Saturdays, but above all else, a rotating selection of incredible microbrew. The Honey Saison was a highlight, but just as everyone has been saying, the Peanut Butter Porter is not to be missed. It's like what would have happened if you took the peanut butter chocolate bars from our lunchboxes as children and turned them into a beer. I live in town and was shocked when I found out this little farm town was getting not one, but two breweries. This one is located in the heart of town and has a comfortable and relaxing feel to it. The beer is fantastic but my favorite is Squirrels Nuts peanut butter porter. They offer meat and cheese platters, as well as salads and sandwiches for a light meal. On occasion they have live entertainment. I highly recommend stopping by while you're in town. A great addition to this community. read more

I love the yep yep IPA. ALSO the second yep yep. The decor and atmosphere is relaxing. They have couches and chairs to relax in like your in the coffee house on the set of friends. Very friendly staff. I had the ham and cheese with macaroni salad. The ham was skimpy but love the mustard on it. I got sucked into playing trivia with the owners brother and had a blast. I would like to give the Geneseo Brewing a good review, but we went there and had the worst time. I have been there before and had spotty service and food. Some time good and some times not so good. Our last visit was sad. First of all, it took longer then normal to be waiting on. The beer selection was OK. I have had better beer and choices. We ordered our food and it took 50 minute from the the time we ordered to the the it was served. The servers were apologetic and did discount the bill 10%. The special was shrimp tacos. Tacos were expensive and not very good. I had the the flat bread that was terrible. The crust was like a bad cracker and the meat no taste and the topping was like it came from a bottle.. No one in my party had a meal that we would want to come back. Hopefully the owners will get their act together. The waiter were nice but they need help from management. read more

My wife and I were in town for the day and we had wanted to come to the brewery ever since it opened. As we walked in I was blown away by the decor as it felt really "cool" in there, and the atmosphere was great. My wife had the peanut butter beer and I had the Geneseo ale, they were both spot on. This place is absolutely fantastic. Very good beer (try the peanut butter if you like dark or the Hef if you're a light beer drinker). They have wine too if you're not a beer drinker. The decor is comfortable and inviting with warm colors and plenty of seating. Even big, comfy chairs and sofas if you want to relax and catch up with friends. Lots of bar space or booths if you want to catch a game. Staff is friendly and engaging. The menu is small, but good and expanding. Highly recommend - you won't be disappointed! read more
