Beer is pretty good. Food is mediocre. Management is terrible. Don't waste your time coming here as a team. It shouldn't be this hard to spend money at this place. We showed up at 12 after our games. They maybe had 2 tables of people. We asked for 36 seats outside. They had double that available. They told us we could only order drinks and could not order food for 30 min. We thought that was weird since it was noon but sat down anyway. 1 hour later we finally were able to order food and it is 2pm and we still haven't received our food. Several large groups came after us and have received food. Poor form. Not impressed. Our server is really nice...otherwise this place get la 1 star. First time at the Twin Span Brewing. I first noticed the nice assortment of brews. Such a great list! I knew I was in the right place! I first enjoyed the Summer Cat beer! Wow! So tasty and refreshing for a hot summer night. It went down quick! Next up, the Hefeweizen. So crisp and smooth! I needed some food to go with my beers, so we ordered the giant soft pretzel with dipping sauces. This pretzel is huge and makes for the perfect appetizer. Located by a sports complex so expect teams to be here. Got seated right away at high tops & atmosphere is super casual with a great beer selection. Bathrooms clean, empty garbage & toiletries well stocked! Waitress was great with suggestions & very attentive & friendly! Food looks good & will be back to try more of the menu. Got the huge pretzel which was hot , big as your head & not overly salted. Crispy outside & hot and soft inside! Somewhere between a four and a five is where I would put this great find in Iowa. YESSSS!!! Iowa!!!! Recommended by a colleague - a local who had been there before - and it far exceeded the expectations. Honestly, I never thought I would find food this eclectic and delicious anywhere in Iowa. We had a dip, with goat cheese atop, to start with grilled bread. It was warm an decadent. I think it had just been added to the menu and we told the staff that it was a keeper. There were three of us dining and we all ordered three different things. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken and waffles. The other side of the tables locked in on the steak fajitas and a giant pretzel with cheese dipping sauce. My dish came and I was pleased to find a boneless, perfectly seasoned piece of chicken sharing the plate with a homemade waffle....actually 2 homemade waffles. (I was thrilled to find a second waffle hiding under the first one because it was really good. The waffle was seasoned by a professional and the flavored butter was the perfect condiment. The chicken was spicy...a kick but not overbearing. The flavors were so en pointe, I did not use the syrup. I tasted the fajitas (with the fresh jalapeño slices next to it.) and there were worth the food coma that I knew was coming. All in all, I enjoyed the food immensely. The sandwich could have had more flavor in my opinion and the fries tasted like they were fried in oil used for everything. I can't pinpoint what the fries tasted like, but not fries. We ordered the a flight consisting of four beers (Pumpkin Pylon, Red Red Redemption, Ryetoberfest, and Shadow Density #4EO). Ryetoberfest was my fav. We also ordered Twin Span Nachos with pork belly. The chips good, but the queso was more like a cheese sauce and the pork belly tasted by Chinese boneless spareribs. So if you like that flavor combination you're on to a winner. I don't generally leave reviews, let alone a review for something other than food, but I'm making an exception. We stopped in last night (and many other times, since we're a sports family and "live" at the Bett Plex year-round) and it was rather busy. Our food was decent, but a little overpriced. We had the nachos, which were ok, but the queso is definitely more like melted velveeta consistency rather than true queso. Our entrees (cluck norris flatbread & midwest burger) were good and the fries were cooked very well. The thing that shined most to me was not the food or our server, rather the hostess. A blonde with an oversized hoodie - we overheard people calling her "Pip". She was extremely delightful. From the moment we walked in she was polite and professional. She said hello and asked how we were doing and told us it would be a moment to get our table. From there, she stopped to offer refills of water as she walked by to our empty glasses. Our wait staff was very busy, so this was a nice bonus. I know this isn't "her job" and many places don't appreciate hosts and hostesses, so I wanted to be sure you know that she is doing a great job. I've been to other places and there other other young people who are just there for the paycheck. This young lady seemed to really be there and doing her job and others for the right reasons. I don't know if hosts get tipped or not from their servers, but I sure hope they do. Where do I start because this place was over the top perfect! First, we were a big softball family group of around 16 and Olivia P. our server needs a shout out. She handled all orders with ease and everything was correct. She communicated clearly throughout the meal, never overly pushy but attentive and easy to grab if needed. She made sure to tell us that tip was included because of our group. This seems like a little thing, but very appreciated. So many times not knowing this in advance has caused reconciling checks a mess. Thank you! Now for the food - Wow. Several individuals said, I am not a guac person but that is pretty darn delicious. We all shared many dishes because it was too hard to choose! BTW the bigger than your face pretzel is NOT an advertising gimmick; it's really THAT big. The Adobe chicken tacos (get 3) you will want all of them, mouthwatering. I honestly don't think we had very many to go bags. Everyone ate it all. Beers were excellent as well. We waited less than 5 minutes when we arrived for our order that we'd called ahead. Food was tasty but nothing crazy. Tonight we ordered delivery. The chicken sandwich was a repeat so no surprises there. But, the $19 brisket sandwich was minuscule for the price. More bread than "brisket". The photo online shows a sliced brisket sandwich, but what we received was a (delightful) bun with 2, maybe 3 tablespoons of chopped beef. Hello This place is very new! It has a nice trendy and open look to it! The staff is super friendly. The bartender waited on me. She was great! Great hire and keep up the great work. Go in and try their beers. I had the Whole Hog Burger- nicely seasoned, the pork belly is amazing and the bacon they use is great!! The only reason for a 4 star is the size of the burger. It was plenty for for me but for the price I feel it might push people away. Oh and a nice hand made burger patty addition. I feel the patty was a frozen one. They fries are Amazing! Last night Twin Span Saved our Life! Not really, but after having a bad experience elsewhere, we popped in and were looking for a place to just grab a beer and a bite. We were told there would be a 40-minute wait unless we wanted to wait at the bar. We opted for the bar and headed up. We saw only one open chair so my date had a seat and right as I was preparing to settle in next to her, the manager swept by and sat half the people at the bar. Seat open, we both sit. The bartender was very personable, he made an effort to recognize our presence among a busy bar and orders coming through, as well as give samples and answer questions. As we were getting ready to order our beers the manager once more came by and asked if we wouldn't mind moving down a seat, I did and I gave him a quick rundown about our night and how I appreciated his efforts to make sure everyone was sat and able to enjoy their night. He thanked me and moved on to the next people and asked if they could move as well. I later found out he took care of a round of drinks for everyone he asked to move, which is in my opinion is a great way to. It not only makes sure everyone is happy but to make long-term fans as well. As for our food, we ordered a Bavarian pretzel, which was fantastic! I ordered the BBLTA which was fantastic, and cooked to perfection, I can't remember what burger my date ordered but she made the comment that she loved it. Our fries were good as well, but by this time we had a bit too much food. The bill was good, and the prices were online with the quality of the food served. Bad beer, nonexistent service. We arrived at Twin Span around 3:00 and were immediately shown to a table on the patio by the host. And we sat, for at least 15 minutes and no one came to our table. There were two servers working the patio, and it was not busy; they just chose not to serve us. After waiting for 15 minutes, we got a flight of beer from the bar on our own. The beer was not good. On that day we went three breweries in Davenport and Twin Span beer was the worst. The beer lacked distinct flavor or differentiation from one beer to another. We drank our flight and still no one came to our table even after seeing us serving ourselves. The servers did seem to make an effort when it came to avoiding our table or making any eye contact. After drinking the two beers from the flight that were drinkable, we left. We weren't even out of the parking lot and they were cleaning our table. Clearly they knew we were there and they just chose not to serve us. If you want total apathy and bad beer, Twin Span is the place for you. read more

There was plenty of waitstaff which was good to see given "Helped Wanted" signs everywhere post-Covid and the location and building is accessible and attractive. Despite this, the overall food experience was disappointing. Appetizers of wings/fries and cheese/bacon arrived warmish not hot, which rendered fried cheese bites mushy. It was not busy or crowded so there's really no excuse for that. My SIL ordered the fish sandwich and was pleased with it; husband's hamburger was okay; my tacos had good flavor though the tortillas were extremely greasy (I didn't eat them.) It was my daughters meal that sealed the two star rating. Her chicken and waffles were served with a beer syrup--a syrup which was the consistency of poured beer and defied any expectation one holds for an actual syrup on waffles. The actual flavor was impossible to identify and, quite frankly, tasted terrible. We did ask our server about it ("Is it always this runny?") and a short while later a gentleman approached our table (Manager? Chef?) and noted that we didn't like the syrup. He didn't ask why. He just said he heard my daughter didn't like it. I noted the runny consistency and lack of sweetness (ergo, syrup.) He reminded me it was made with beer. Well then, the syrup is the consistency of a cool beer--not warm, not hot, cool. My daughter then suggested that it would be nice to have a regular syrup option for those who did not like the other. He did not like that suggestion--shook his head--and said, "No." If I could review and star the aforementioned Manager or Chef's interaction with a disappointed diner and his willingness to make her flavor experience better, it'd be 0. read more

Stumbled on this place during a cross country trip with my husband. We love beer and this restaurant was across the street from our hotel. Good selection of beer on tap. My husband had the West End of the Galaxy because we live in San Diego and we love West Coast IPA's. It did not disappoint. I also had an IPA, from the other coast, 80 East:El Doridaho. Described as a "juicy" IPA, it was and was yummy. Speaking of yummy, the food! We shared the Tuna Poke and the Beet Salad with grilled mahi mahi. Both were amazing in both presentation and taste! Loved the aged cheddar in the salad. Special shout out to the kitchen staff who worked a bit of overtime I think, to accommodate these late but hungry travelers. Worst service I've had there. It's never great service, but this was just sad. Was seated on patio at the bar, busy day for them ball teams, so we anticipated a little delay. 10 or 15 minutes to be acknowledged by the server, who was the bar tender. Ordered drinks and food all at the same time. She dropped off drinks after another 10 minutes. Never saw her again until out was time to drop off the check. I had to go get our silverware, napkins, and the ranch that never came when delivered by a food runner who left so fast we couldn't even ask for any. Had the moho tacos and campechano tacos so my daughter and I could share. The fish tacos were good but had sooo much salt it was not good. The steak ones were cold.. like cold right out of the fridge. Didn't see our server too even get another drink, and I was tired of getting up to get things we needed. When she brought the check, she didn't even ask how lunch was just came with a beer sample as we sat ready to leave.
