My mother couldn't lift him and without any in-home care, he needed to have a place to provide daily physical therapy, medical assistance and meals. Heritage Harbour Health & Rehabilitation Center is located near the Annapolis Mall and Riva Road, off in a secluded wooded area. It is very convenient. The rooms are shared with two people and a small curtain between the beds. The TVs are small and somewhat old. The TV channel is the Baltimore channel line-up which was difficult for my dad since he is an avid Washington sports fan. There is WIFI but it's not that reliable. The PT facility looked great. That's what it's all about. The therapists were very friendly and committed to getting everyone healthy. After my farther was sent home, they continued to visit his home and help with daily PT. Before we knew it, they arrived to pick up the wheel chair, walkers and everything else. Now my dad is walking about as good as new. Overall, my father never said anything bad about the place but was obviously happy to get home.

They provided no safety for my family member who was constantly harassed by another patient with Dementia. Based on recommendations from the Office of Aging and my attorney, I brought my relative home to recover and she is doing exceptionally well. The Annapolis facility even lied and posted her profile on their website as a success story (without permission) and lied about her success there. After serious research working with social workers, we discovered Autumn Lake.Spa Creek, 10 minutes from my family. The setting was beautiful, and I was instantly attracted to the place. I immediately contacted my social workers to find out how to become a lifetime resident. Come to find out that after providing this place with appropriate documentation and filling out forms needed, they evaluated me for residency. After some days waiting (not long) during hospitalization, I was accepted! I was transported to Autumn Lake via ambulance and immediately shown to my room. I was welcomed with OPEN ARMS! Every single staff member i met greeted me and offered their help whenever I might need it. All residents said hello with smiles. My room is spacious and most of all, SAFE...for me with an electric wheelchair. I met my sweet roommate, perfectly matched for me. Most of all, I got to meet Alish, one of the social workers instrumental in my acceptance. Gave her my thanks! Signed a lot of complicated paperwork, but Zi in the business office made everything clear...she explained it all. Then I met Rebecca (Unit Manager) who told me how the unit I was living in works and really presented everything clearly. If I need help, she was quick to say she's always available. Then I met Jalloh, the nurse that I could contact for room/floor related issues, and of course any medical questions that I had. He was personally responsible for my direct care. I quickly came to find that he is a special soul, Jalloh. You constantly hear his name called out loudly throughout the halls, and he always answers loudly and comes to your room immediately. I've NEVER EVER seen a person being CONSTANTLY PULLED IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS consistently respond with bright and knowledgeable care every time. WITH JOKES AND LIGHTHEARTED words that always LIFTS YOUR SPIRITS. Wow. He is AMAZING. And he manages the aides that work under him with confidence and brilliance that inspire his leadership. Cherlita is my favorite person on my care team. I get to be taken care of by her at least 3 times a week and she. Is truly a standout performer. I need lots of very personal care and she always goes the extra mile! It's INCREDIBLE how CLEAN she makes me feel...she handles many, many patients at one time - a typical night includes 19 patients , with call lights going on constantly for other rooms needing assistance urgently. I don't know how she does it. Her bedside manner is incredible, maintaining speed with excellence...and with a smile! Next, I'll tell you about the Therapy Department. I began therapy right away upon arrival. I met Ashley, Katie, Cesar, Harry, and Frank right away and they wasted no time in creating a therapy plan for me, and discussing my goals. A progress report was created. I want to stand. That is my goal. They are helping me realize that goal with carefully planned exercises. Working very closely with Katie, I'm working on foot and leg strength. Very difficult with loss of movement, but she is finding a way to somehow do it through hands on therapy, and strength building exercises. Ashley, Cesar and Frank are all working with me on upper body strengthening exercises and I've been able to enjoy visible results already. Autumn Lake is a clean, comfortable and very safe refuge for those that require rehabilitation and those who need a long term forever home. I was SO lucky to get admitted here. They were compassionate, attentive, professional, and I truly appreciate the medical care I received from them. Unfortunately, my experience before being seen was extremely concerning. I arrived around 1:50 AM experiencing severe pain radiating from the front of my body to my back, along with chest pain and difficulty breathing. I informed the registration staff that I was in excruciating pain and could barely speak because of my condition. Despite explaining my symptoms, I was told I would have to wait because several people were ahead of me. I then remained in the waiting room for approximately three to four hours while my condition worsened. During that time, my pain became unbearable, my breathing became more difficult, and by the time I was finally called back, I could barely walk or breathe comfortably. I understand emergency rooms can become busy, but waiting hours while experiencing chest pain, severe pain, and breathing difficulty was frightening and unacceptable. My concern is not with the medical staff who treated me once I was admitted, but with the registration and wait-time process. I strongly encourage Luminis Health to review its triage and patient reassessment procedures to ensure patients with serious symptoms receive more timely attention and care. I also ask that this feedback not be met with a generic response stating that the matter will be reviewed. Concerns regarding emergency room wait times and triage procedures are clearly ongoing issues, and patients deserve to know what meaningful changes are actually being implemented to address these repeated complaints and prevent similar experiences in the future.
