Prior to coming to Homestead I researched the area looking for a unique donut shop which I did not find but I did run across Genesis Bakery which did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in we were pleased with everything. The 2 ladies at the counter although very busy greeted us when we walked in. Everything was run like a well oiled machine, very efficient and with respect. My husband and I each chose a warm savory item as well as a sweet treat for later in the day. I had a ham & cheese empanada, let's just say the pastry was light and airy with wonderful flavor probably the best pastry I ever had. Later in the day we had the caramel danish, OMG! The sweet cream cheese and caramel on top of a perfectly executed pastry, thin but not skimpy and crisp but still tender was like heaven on Earth! I love this place! The family that owns it is so nice and they remember their customers! I don't even have to say what I want when I walk in no matter how long I've been gone. Genesis Bakery, Homestead Stopped at genesis bakery after a brief search on yelp for Cuban coffee. The bakery is located in a shopping strip mall. Plenty of parking. We walked in, no greeting and the young gal behind the counter was not interested in assisting. We asked if they were serving breakfast and she just pointed to a hot area and nothing else. We asked again and she just pointed and I then saw the pancakes and eggs. All of the sudden, the place got busy with locals and she young gal took care of the people coming in after us. All of the sudden, the owner walks in and takes our order. We ordered 2 sandwiches, two freshly squeezed orange juices and a coffee; for a total of $21.94 I must say the service was somewhat lacking but the coffee made up for it. Would we go again?? I love when starbucks tourists find a real Miami bakery They give reviews like "needs improvement". Here's an idea go back up north to whatever Tennessee starbucks you came from. I have been going to Genesis fir a few years now. I love coffee especially the Cuban kind. This place hands down makes the BEST CUBAN COFFEE in Homestead and to my knowledge south of Bird Road . I can walk in order a, Large Cafe con Leche ( in starbucks terms that's bigger then a grande but smaller then Vente Espresso Latte) and a ham and swiss croissant. They put the croissants in the sandwhich press so the cheese melts and its warm so yummy. The whole tab out to $4,50 not the $12 it would cost your other hipster locations. Plus there bakery case is full of typical Cuban delicacies and a lunch menu as,well but honestly I have only had the coffee, croissant and Cuban toast there. It is as trendy and contemporary as other places? Absolutely not . It's is a actual working bakery one very typical of Miami.That you can tell has been there forever A hole in the wall of sorts honestly if there are 8 ppl in there it's getting crowded. I drive an extra 1.5 miles south on US1 before I head up anywhere just for the coffee. When I have 3 Cuban coffee option within a stones throw of my residence. If your local check it out if your a tourist and you want the best Cuban coffee the south has to offer it's in this little hole in the wall. This is no BS this is half the sandwich that they gave me. I threw out the other half. The sandwich was not good. It did not have mustard or mayonnaise which later they said would cost an extra $2. It's not worth it for $7.75. I do not recommend this place. read more

After living down here for a year i finally found a bakery that satisfies my cravings. This bakery i found real close to my house and i cant believe i never seen it. I would say the shopping center it is located in isn't very popular so i never really looked at it whenever i drove by. I had their bakery goods : 2× tequeño de queso, 4× tequeño de queso y guayaba, 4× ham croquettas, 1× arepa con queso on sweet corn and a soda bottle. All for a great normal price for $15. I been to other bakeries and they price gouge the hell outta ya. Today i had their pan con bistec and my wife and i fell in love. Yea its a steak sandwhich but i am a sandwhich kind of guy and value a good tasting satisfying sandwhich. Everything there is affordable nothing too pricey. I love the fact its Colombian bakery food because its is now comfort food for me since im Colombian. read more

I used to go here every morning before work and bought alot of pastry platters for my whole team of colleagues and unfortunately this is the second time we found mold. The first time I caught it i got a pastry just for me so did not say anything I figured a bad batch and just threw it away but then... 2nd time it was for my team and one of my guys bit into it and that is just beyond disappointing so I'm so sorry but I had to warn people out there. My guys over 30 of them will not be going including myself. I hate leaving reviews like these but this is an establishment where people eat in the morning and lunch and trust the environment and this is what happens. This is bad really bad.
