Dee was my midwife for my second pregnancy and childbirth. My first baby I delivered in hospital with a CNM, and that's the path I was headed down with pregnancy #2. However, the CNMs I worked with for the first several months were impersonal, not particularly supportive of what I wanted out of the experience, and difficult to get a hold of with concerns! I was about 5 months along when I met Dee, and I knew from the first visit that I wanted to work with her instead. She was compassionate, caring, and immediately I felt that she was invested in me, personally. Because of some circumstances that worked out in my favor, I got to have all of my prenatal appointments with Dee in my home. I loved that, and I wish I could have that particular bonus every time! She was always informative about my condition; she helped me maintain good nutrition and do everything we could to help prepare my body for childbirth and lactation. She also went out of her way to prepare me emotionally, for childbirth and postpartum. I had a couple of false starts to my labor, and Dee was patient with me as I texted her back and forth. I loved that she was so responsive and easy to reach. Once things actually got moving, Dee was amazing. She promptly came to my home with her assistants, and through every stage of my labor she was calm, encouraging, and professional. I had an absolutely amazing water birth with my son. I tore, and after we got moved out of the pool, she stitched me together SO much better than I had endured with my first childbirth. She and her assistants got my little family settled, made sure baby and I had started well with breastfeeding, got the house cleaned up, made us a meal, and started the laundry before they left, at about 3:00am. They were amazing. Dee returned the next day for follow up, as well as checking in with me over the next few weeks. I sincerely have no complaints from working with Dee as my midwife. My husband and I are moving this summer, otherwise I would employ her as my midwife for every child I ever have! read more

Dee was an assistant with my first baby and home birth. It was an extremely long and difficult delivery with 33 hours of labor and back labor all throughout. I would not have made it through without Dee. She has extraordinary physical, emotional and spiritual strength. In that time of severe stress and fatigue, her strength, knowledge and care brought me through. I knew I could depend on her and I did. In 2010 I became pregnant with my 5th child with a due date of December 25, 2010. I knew I wanted to give birth at home because I had a wonderful experience with home birth for my 4th child, three years earlier. Since then, I had moved to a new state and couldn't find any recommendations for midwives who lived close enough to me for me to consider. Dee G. was my friend who I met through church and homeschooling. I admired her interest and passion for important things like charity and philanthropy. She loved children and babies and had studied midwifery. I asked her to assist me in my 6th child's birth and she accepted. She visited me during the pregnancy to check on my health and baby's heartbeat, baby's position, and other health-related concerns that midwives perform. She was extremely knowledgeable about all pregnancy and birth-related questions and concerns, and wisely offered the pros and cons of both traditional and alternative solutions. I felt comfortable with using Dee G. as my helper for my child's birth. I never felt unsure or unsafe under her care. When the time came for delivery, the phone call was made to her around 3 am. She was available and came over quickly. Dee G. brought over delicious homemade soup for me to enjoy after the birth. She was at ease in my home, playing cheerfully with my older kids, checking on me occasionally, patiently waiting for me to progress with labor. She brought a calm and positive feeling into my home. When labor wasn't progressing, she offered herbs to help move things along. She assisted in setting up the pool for a water birth. She left all choices up to me which made me feel in control and comfortable. Labor was long and intense for this child, more so than any of my others. Dee G. never showed any signs of fatigue. She guided me through labor. She encouraged me profusely. She showed me different positions to help with pain management. She talked with me and walked with me. When time for pushing came, she motivated me. She caught my baby boy and we enjoyed some time together in the pool of water. Dee G. truly cared for me and my baby throughout my pregnancy and birth. Her extensive knowledge, practical experience, her calm demeanor and her smiling nature, her wisdom and her loving care make her a midwife I can certainly recommend. read more

Dee Gordon was my Midwife for my first baby! When I was 18 weeks pregnant she and I had our first prenatal appt and met every month after that til I was thirty seven weeks pregnant and then we met every week after that to check on me and baby and how things were going. I appreciate how Dee was always willing to talk to me about every single question that I ever had and took the time to ensure I was comfortable and understood all of my options. She respected all of my wishes throughout my entire pregnancy and in birthing my baby boy. During it all I always felt like I was the one deciding how I wanted everything to happen and she was the great support that I needed. Everything went exactly how I pictured it and how I wrote in my birth plan. Whenever questions came up about certain things to happen during or after the birth; i.e. backup plans, in case of's and such, she would always inform me in the most unassertive way possible and gave me the choice which made a world of difference to me. I feel that Dee has a servants heart through and through and only had my baby and me in her interest. Through this whole experience Dee has become a great friend/like family to us and will still, even almost a year later, offer us advice on things when we have questions about our child's health, wellness, development etc. There is no one else we would even consider to help us bring our future children into this world, that is how HAPPY we are with our care! After planning a homebirth with my 6th baby and having my water break at 28 weeks, my world seemed to be turned upside down and I started to sink into a deep depression. My baby was born in the hospital 10 weeks early and spent 6 weeks in the nicu. I carried a LOT of emotional baggage from the whole experience. When I became pregnant with my 7th baby, I was hoping for a healing birth experience, and I knew that could only happen through the care of a compassionate midwife. After meeting Deanna Gordon, I knew she was the right midwife for me. I felt very confident and comfortable in the care that she provided. She was very patient and supportive of me as I struggled through my fears of a repeat premature birth. She offered encouragement at each appointment and I never felt rushed as we visited. When my baby's birth day came, I was so grateful for the constant support from Deanna. She was very intuitive and gently guided me through the birth of my baby. It was the healing experience that I had hoped for. When I started to hemorrhage after the birth, Deanna remained calm and focused, which helped keep me and my family calm. Never once did I feel fearful about the situation, which was quickly brought under control. I met Dee Gordon through my sister. I am so glad I was able to find such an amazing person to work with through my pregnancy with my 3rd child. My first 2 pregnancies and deliveries did not go even close to how I had planned. I was frustrated and wanted a good experience so that my husband and I could share in a good birth experience this time:) we had an amazing experience this time around!! Dee did so much for me. During my pregnancy she answered all my questions and explained everything to me-even when i texted her at crazy hours. She never rushed our prenatals. I always felt comfortable and safe while in her presence. She made sure to share any concerns with me that she had but never had me leave without a plan or a solution to the problem. She helped me with some very emotional stuff that I was going through with family. She did so much more for me than the midwives I had with my previous pregnancies/delivery. She helped me get through anxiety and fear creeping in right before my little girl was born. This was a huge help because it helped me to not go into the delivery scared, upset at my other 2 deliveries or feeling defeated. She believed in me which helped me believe in myself! I delivered almost 2 weeks early which was a big shock to me-because I went over with my first two:) my delivery was really fast. Dee coached me to help my baby come slowly so I didn't tear or cause harm to my baby girl. After I delivered Millie she made sure that I was in a comfortable position to check me and for me to deliver the placenta. Through the whole process she made sure I was as comfortable as I could be. She explained what she was doing and showed me the placenta afterwards. It was so cool to see it and realize the important role it played during the pregnancy. I wasn't at home at the time I went into labor. I was an hour away at a baby shower for my cousin's baby. I was really uncomfortable but just figured it was Braxton hicks ( I had these for 2 weeks straight with my other two deliveries) or very mild labor. I didn't want to get my hopes up for a short labor. My sister drove while I coped with the contractions wedged between my two cuties in their car seats. We informed dee on the way their that I was uncomfortable and maybe having Some contractions. She told me to keep her updated throughout the evening. On the way home we called Dee and told her that my contractions were much stronger and that she might want to be ready to head to my house in a couple hours. The minute we got to my place I couldn't even make it from my car to the front door of my house without stopping a hundred times. We new at that point it was time to get people here. Everyone made it in time for little Millie's arrival:) I can remember feeling so happy and overjoyed that we were able to have a homebirth:) our hearts were full and we were so happy! With Dee's awesome coaching, education, and experience I was able to push slow enough to avoid ANY tearing, I healed up fast and was able to have a great delivery without all the negative thoughts and emotions I was going through before my delivery. Dee not only helped us accomplish what kind of a birth we wanted but exceeded our expectations. I realize deliveries don't go as planned and it's hard to have exactly what you planned for your delivery but with the right help you're delivery can go much better. I know that Dee wants to help the mom and baby (other family members if possible) to have the best experience they can have in their situation! Not only did I have a great experience but all those who were present also commented about what an awesome experience they had! My husband was able to help out and not feel like he was in the way or like he should leave. I appreciate Dee helping him see his role in helping me out throughout the delivery and allowing him to follow through with what he thought would help me! Dee Gordon from Heber Valley Home Birth was my midwife for my third child. Even though I live an hour away from her, I chose to have her as my midwife because of how knowledgeable, kind and trained she is. I started out the pregnancy by seeing an OB/GYN, but then I switched and started seeing Dee Gordon as her patient in September, 2014. I was 6 months pregnant and was excited about having her as my midwife. She saw me once a month until I was 7 months pregnant, then twice a month until I was 8 months pregnant, then once a week until delivery. She made me feel very safe and comfortable. She always answered all of my questions and calmed my fears. She always made me feel like she had time for me and she really listened to me, instead of the too-busy-to-talk attitude the doctors had towards me and my questions. When I went into labor she invited me TO HER HOUSE to deliver my son! I stayed there until I felt ready to go home. The delivery went very well. She was very knowledgeable and thorough about everything during labor and delivery. She helped me know when to push, when to rest, she always tested my heart rate and my baby's. I felt safe the entire time. Dee delivered my son at her home on December 4, 2014. He was, and continues to be, extremely healthy and well. She knew what to do to help him thrive directly after birth and made me feel completely safe and comfortable. Dee stitched me up beautifully and I've recovered better from that than when I delivered my first two children at hospitals. Dee was my midwife for my 5th pregnancy and birth, our 2nd homebirth. I was away from immediate family and did not have familiar faces with which to encourage me when the time came for our son to be born. My sister traveled from two states away and got there just as labor started but she was very apprehensive about me having a homebirth. My labor started and progressed very quickly. I called Dee first - I knew she would be my best support and could accurately assess the situation and help to decide when to call the midwife. When she arrived she told us to call the midwife right away and helped me get upstairs. I could tell my sister felt so relieved to have her there, Dee knew what she was doing! She was so capable! And gentle! My midwife didn't make it, our son was born before she could get there - but Dee was there! She worked with such care and professionalism. She assessed us both to make sure there were no problems and I felt so comfortable and at peace knowing she was there. There were no complications. I would recommend Dee to anyone. This woman has done extensive research and I have learned so much from her. I call her time after time for advice on pregnancy, childbirth, and all things related. She truly has a heart to help bring babies into this world in a safe and loving manner in a way that will be memorable and uplifting for the entire family. I contacted Dee Gordon after interviewing several other local midwives. I was looking for a midwife to deliver my fourth baby. I have had one hospital birth and two previous home births. She took time to answer all of my questions on the phone and later in person she efficiently answered another long list of questions. I was drawn to her immediately because I sensed she was sincere and passionate about giving mothers and babies a fantastic birth adventure. As she shared her experiences and beliefs about giving birth it was clear to me that she is educated and expertly qualified. Each prenatal appointment was thorough and unhurried as she inquired about my health and pregnancy and relieved all of my concerns. I left each prenatal feeling well cared for and always with advanced knowledge of ways to have an optimal pregnancy and birth. During this pregnancy I was also working through some difficult emotions due to unplanned events in my life. Dee was a true friend to me showing nonjudgemental love and compassion. This empathy was exactly what I needed through those months of preparing for my baby's arrival. This paved a way for a genuine connection with her and I am convinced my little one's birth at home was much enhanced by my feeling comfortable in Dee's care. I had a preterm labor scare while I was moving to a new home and she gave me sound advice while also sharing opinions gleaned from other midwives about my condition. Some caregivers I've had in the past would have been too ego centered to confer with others, but Dee always demonstrated that my safety and that of my unborn baby was priority. When I was in labor she was a Godsend! Anyone can say the "right words" but when those words are wrapped in genuine warmth they become powerful. Dee's tone of voice and physical touch conveyed this and carried me through the most challenging part of labor. She seemed to know what would be most effective during the pushing stage even though it was different than we had initially imagined or planned. Sure enough her instincts were spot on! After my little one's birth my placenta was taking a while to deliver so Dee recommended different techniques all the while remaining serene and confident. This in turn kept me from feeling anxious and soon my placenta was delivered. Her competence, patience, dedication and graceful presence is something I will always remember. If I am blessed with more children Dee will be my first choice for a midwife! In addition to Dee's expertise I admire her desire to continually stay abreast of the latest research and her hunger to continue to educate herself and others in the community.
