They even told me to come in as often as I wanted because they were basically free. They never gave me a cost estimate because they said it was covered. 2 years later I get a bill for over $1k because apparently it wasn't covered and in the entire 2 years (over a dozen visits I had in that office) they never once told me that I owed them money. They just kept letting it build up. I would never have gotten this service if I had known it was costing me money each time. They never once told me there was a deductible in the 2 YEARS I came to the office. Only kept continually telling me it was 'completely covered' by insurance. I didn't even know they were billing my medical insurance and not my eye insurance because it was a 'medical' service. They didn't explain any of that. I did complain and they did write off some of the cost, but they are still expecting me to pay several hundred dollars for a treatment I would have turned down at the very beginning if they had told me there were any cost. The fact that it was 2 years of fees building up before they let me know is ridiculous. The whole thing feels like a scam. I shouldn't have to pay any fees, but I'm done arguing. I just hope that this review warns others to at least don't take their word for anything and double check your own insurance even if they tell you things are covered. And make sure you are asking if they are billing eye insurance or medical. I always thought it was weird they kept trying to upsell additional tests, etc, but didn't think it was a big deal because you can turn those down. But I should have gone with my first instincts and found a different Dr. after my first visit.

Needed an optometrist for one of my children who was complaining about his vision. After searching…read morethrough my insurance site we landed on East Ventura Optometry as it was around the corner from our house. To be honest I'd driven by here 100 times and never knew it was located right next to the veterinarian clinic. You walk in and it is a quiet space with music faintly in the background. The optometrist assistant treated us with new patient paperwork and we waited only a few minutes before going back for eye photos and initial processes. Dr Debon then came and took us back for the exam and helped work through my son's complaints and checked his vision with multiple tools of the trade. We came up with a plan and then went out to choose frames for new glasses. The processes was seamless and the best part of the visit was how low key and mellow it was. As a smaller office we got the opportunity to have a full visit conversation and everything was not rushed just to see everyone. Hands down highly recommended!
