Two days after accepting our final $4000 ($10,000 total) payment and 34 day prior to our trip to Mexico for our daughter's 18th birthday, I was informed by Debbie at Genie Travel that my family's trip was being changed. After a year of paying and planning, my choices were 1) 6 days (instead of the original 7) and no swim out suites (as promised and paid for) or 2) wait an extra week for the full 7 days, but still no swim up suites (as agreed to) all for an additional $3,000 which will consume our 125% credit being offered as (supposed) compensated for our losses! Choice 3)... we get to wait up to 90 days for our refund!!! Which leaves us without our money to make other plans! Funjet is trying to rip us off and Genie travel is powerless to make this right! In the end, we are left with nothing for all of our efforts! We will never book a trip through Genie Travel or Funjet again!!! read more

I have worked with Genie Travel for 2 trips thus far and I must say that they are wonderful to work with! I have been working with Carey and he has been wonderful. Our resort stay in Florida was beautiful, easy to get to, and felt like being home away from home. Our tickets to the park were easy to retrieve and just took the stress out of our travel. (Time zone different at refund place) Now that I am ready to rebook my trip, I will NEVER use Dale or her minions again. I used Genie Travel to book my travel for my wedding. I sat down with Debbie my mother in law and sister in law and booked an ocean front balcony room. My mother in law kept saying she wanted a balcony and Debbie said that is what we were booking. When we showed up to Cancun we had a regular ocean front room no balcony but I on the preferred floor which we all said we didn't care about or need to pay extra for. We checked in on a Sunday so couldn't do anything till Monday and then Monday Debbie was off so still nothing. All we were told is apple vacations doesn't even have packages for the nicer rooms like we thought we were booking and that oh no that's not what we said we wanted. I encouraged many in my wedding group to book through them and all that did said they had a hard time getting a hold of anyone to book and when they wanted to change things it was tedious and drawn out with no resolve. Others priced it out with what was supposed to be a great group deal through Genie as we were told and found it cheaper to go directly through Apple vacations who Genie books through anyways. I was also frustrated when I asked about the credit we were supposed to get for having people book through the group and weekday card the credit would be applied to just to be told not sure in a quick response email, so I know she didn't even check. Run run quick if your thinking of using this sham of a business, because of them the first experience I had for my wedding week was crying from disappointment! read more

I just got off the phone with LEANN (travel agent) from GENIE TRAVEL... myself and my family had planned a trip to Florida, my daughter is pregnant and with the recent outbreak of the Zika virus was advised by her doctor, not travel to Florida or any other place the Zika virus is present. it is too dangerous for her unborn baby. so unfortunately we had to cancel our family vacation. If that wasnt bad enough, even worse was dealing with LEANN, when this all came about we were advised that she needed a doctors note due to zika virus to get full refund... and may be only partial refund if at all because the rest of the family could still go with out her and the her daughter...?? i could not believe that was even said, considering you do not go on a FAMILY VACATION WITHOUT THE WHOLE FAMILY??? when the vacation was first booked LEANN said " the insurance is good to get so if the vacation gets cancelled due to circumstances out of your control you will be able to get a full refund"!!! LEANN... I AM PRETTY SURE WE HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE ZIKA VIRUS OUTBREAK IN FLORIDA !!!! so we have called a few times to get updates, but LEANN , has the nerve to be irritated that any of us had called to find out what was going on since she makes absolutely no effort to contact any of us and let us know what is going on with the deposit. I asked her who she had spoken to and for their phone number so i could contact them directly to get an update , she refused to give it to me, said she had no idea who she spoke to and could not give the phone number either. really?? her response every time any of us has called is" I DONT KNOW" LEANN clearly makes no effort to get any answers..she has no clue what shes doing at all. during the call she was very rude and had an attitude so i asked why she was getting so upset??its not her money that was being held hostage. (I couldnt believe how upset LEANN was getting over some simple questions about a refund, she was more upset than any of us and we are the ones missing hundreds of dollars , not her) her response was "I keep telling you , you dont get a refund when you pay for car insurance, medical insurance, etc... you cant call your medical insurance and say.... I never went to the doctor this year so i want my money back! and for the travel deposit is the same thing!!" that was what LEANN screeched loudly in my ear... which made no sense since she said the refund was under review for the zika virus out break and would only take 30 days for a resolution and still had no update information to give... even though its been longer than 30 days !!! she has no idea when we will get a resolution. so the waiting continues for a refund....LEANN IS RUDE , HAS A BAD ATTITUDE, LEANN CLEARLY HATES HER JOB AND DOESNT HESITATE TO SHOW IT TO ANYONE EITHER. I'm very unhappy with this place. Me and my family planned a vacation to Florida to go to Disney world for the first time. & also going through a travel agent for the first time too& it turned out to be the worst experience I've EVER had with planning a vacation.. After putting the down payment down with the insurance I found out I was pregnant and had to cancel my trip cause of the Zika virus (by doctors orders) & My travel agent Leann asks for a doctors note to do a full refund after we cancelled our Disney trip ( since it was out of my control) we had to wait 30 days to see if i can get the full refund back that I put down. well I called to see what was happening with my deposit since its been well over 30 days & Leann is very unprofessional, very snotty, GETTING MAD AT ME cause I'm asking what's going on with the deposit I made. All I was trying to do was to see what was going on and she just kept telling me how rude me & my dad are by calling & ASKING what's going on. & THAT WE CALL HER TOO MUCH. It blows my mind how ridiculous this situation is, this is business. & because we NEVER get any response about the refund other then IDK of course we're gonna call to see if she's checked up or called or something since she never calls me to give me an update on the refund or learned anything new with the situation.. So it's been well over 30 days & guess what her answer is?? She still doesn't know. When or if I'm getting any type of refund. & she just expects me to wait Indefinitely for hundreds of dollars that are being held. When the cancellation was OUT OF MY CONTROL!
