Great Sunday lunch! We love love love the bread with the dipping sauce. The kids devoured the spaghetti with meat balls, not typical for my picky eaters. The minestrone is home style with hearty pieces of veggies and spagetti, nice tomato taste, lots of flavor. My husband didn't spare a bite. We also shared a strombolli and caprese salad - delicious. Prices are acceptable. Serice is outstanding! Our server made us feel really at home. We will be back as soon as we walk off the 2000 caleries. Stay away if you are on a diet. read more

We were unfamiliar with Genova, but ducked in here for lunch after an afternoon errand in Newton. I really did not know what to expect, except it looked decent enough to give it a try, and I enjoy local establishments. Well, I was not disappointed. What a great place you have here, Newton! Particularly good, recognizing that we came at the "off" hour of 3 PM when the kitchen may be between shifts or evening dishes in most places may not yet fully primed. These people were ready and gracious. The opening round of bread is astonishingly good but really set the stage for the main course and did not gorge you to the point you no longer cared. (Take that, Olive Garden!) My Sausage Pepper Parmesan was richly flavored and contained sausage of the quality one might find at Yoder's or another similar purveyor of quality meats. The cheese, if not locally produced, was certainly fresh and flavorful as well. Everyone who worked here was certainly pleasant and seemed genuinely happy that we arrived, even at such an odd hour. We even got a few extra fresh hot rolls to take home and savor for later! If I had any quibble at all it is that I'd really have enjoyed a bit of wine to accompany this fine meal, but that is so far not an option. Nevertheless, I understand they do catering, and if I lived a bit closer I'd even consider taking some of their menu offerings home to enjoy with my own bottle. read more

best Italian food around!! This is what ive been waiting for in Newton! The owner is a genuine, warm, and wonderful person and the food is as authentic as i have ever had. This is not your fast food type italian but real food, made with care and forethought. Nothing is overpowering in garlic or spices but rather perfectly blended the way real Italian food is SUPPOSED to be. This place is small hidden Gem. This was our second time there and everything was just as great as the first time. The owner Rosie is amazing. She takes your order and makes great conversation with you and make you feel like a true family member. The fresh baked bread is hot and amazing. The dipping sauce is a nice blend of olive oil, balsamic, fresh tomatoes, onions and seasonings (best I have ever had). When Rosie takes your order if you don't know what you want just have her make something up for you. First time I have know idea what it was but it include pasta, salami, pepperoni, sausage and all kinds of other things in this amazing pink sauce. This time I had the Hawaiian Chicken, can I say AMAZING. Spaghetti with a chicken parm on top with sliced pineapple and Alla Panna sauce and tons of cheese broiled on top of it. Visiting from the West Coast and following the strict Ideal Protein meal plan. When I explained I needed a low carb, low fat, lean protein dinner, the owner hooked me up! Delish fresh steamed veggies with lean meat tossed in a bit of olive oil and seasonings and a splash of care and consideration. Newton, this place is a keeper! Food was quite good, but service left a lot to be desired. Making jokes and using sarcasm isn't appropriate when we've waited more than an hour for our dinner. The staff is poorly trained and management is inefficient. The last meal finally arrived after others were already done...something should have been comped. Keep trying! Their homemade rolls are like little Krispy cream donuts and their dipping oil is so good! I had the sampler of pastas and it was amazing. Everything tasted homemade. I moved to Wichita from KC about a year ago and was so sad that there were no good Italian restaurants around. Being from KC I was spoiled. The food was great! I had a stromboli and fried calamari. I was totally blown away by how well done the food was. However the entire time I was there in a room that was maybe at capacity with 20 people, I never got a single refill. 3 servers no bus boys and only 1 waitress in pants that had to have been painted on. It's really sad that the service is so lacking and the only semi-intelligent waitress decides tighter pants correlate with better tips. (Face palm) read more

Unquestionably one of the best restaurant experiences I have had. Anywhere. Mom and Pop approach with some of the most amazing food I have ever experienced. Very busy night and the food came reasonably quick. The owners were actively involved in every aspect and genuinely cared about the customer experience. The restrooms were constantly being monitored and cleaned. The food is fresh, exquisite and simply unbelievable. I went with my parents and we each got something different and tried each other's plates. There was nothing even remotely below a four star for taste. Seriously. It is that good. All I can say is OMG, amazing food and great service. Keri is one of the best waitresses I've ever had, she was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the entire menu and the daily specials. I highly recommend this restaurant if you like great Italian food, and even though I didn't have one their pizza looked amazing, I think I will try one the next time I come in. You can't go wrong coming here but come hungry because they are not stingy with the portions, you will not leave hungry. read more

It's a shame the food was pretty good but the service was pretty bad. Took 20 minutes for her to come back after our food was brought out to come back, and she forgot again to bring bread. We were looking for a place to eat before I made the drive out west for work. We were pleasantly surprised. I ordered the antipasta de mare. The seafood was perfectly cooked (plump and juicy) and the amount given was generous compared to other restaurants. The sauce tasted more like lemon butter sauce than white wine and olive oil. I had to refrain from adding more salt and just let the simple and light flavors highlight the seafood. My boyfriend liked the chicken parmagiana. We both really enjoyed the complimentary bread. It was pillowy soft with a nice dusting of cheese, herbs and salt. A little dish of oil, vinegar, onions, and tomatoes accompanied the restaurant-made bread for dipping. Very tasty and we had to control our urge to ask for more carbs. Place looks dated and run-down, but the service was decent and the owner was really nice. A wonderful location, very quaint and you will feel like a local! The food was amazingly delicious and our Spanish waitress was the best! Very charismatic and welcoming. That being said, the service needed to be better; the hostess with the blonde hair was clearly a new employee because it took her ages to get anything done, including taking 15 minutes or more to get our check after we asked her three times, but our Spanish waitress came to the rescue with excellent and welcoming service once again! Other than that the restaurant is very good. Would definitely recommend. read more

Do not waste your money...or time! Food tastes like it is straight from a box. The food lacked flavor, and the pasta was overcooked. The service was horrible, despite having an excessive amount of waitstaff. What a genuine, pleasant surprise. I had heard that there was an authentic Italian restaurant in Newton, but I hadn't gone looking for it. I am sure glad that I had heard, and managed to find myself there on a mild October afternoon. This is a charming place with a gracious hostess (I think she was the proprietor). She saw me to my table and asked if anyone was joining me, to which I replied, "No, I am blissfully on my own today.". Even before I placed my order I was presented with some freshly baked rolls with oil and herbs, I guess it is like chips and salsa that they give you at "El Conquistador". Nice to have an appetizer while looking through the menu. I settled on the lasagna, even though I was wanting to try the Chicken Parmagiana, but I saw a plate of it go by before I ordered, and while it looked fabulous, it seemed like such a large portion to have for a late lunch. Normally I go to lunch around 11:30, usually with my partner Pat, but not today. There was a blow up earlier in the day and I had taken the van out for a drive to clear my head. I just really needed some space, if you know what I mean. Between the long drives between Hesston and Oklahoma City with all nine kids, the visits with specialists and tutors, not to mention the increasing tension between Pat's parents and my parents over the upcoming holidays, it had been an extra trying day/week. Of course I couldn't let the kids see me in a bad mood or angry. Heck, I get in trouble if Pat sees the hint of a frown, let alone a frown in front of our nine precious children. Pat can usually lighten my mood with a hug, wrapping those husky python-like arms around me and squeezing until I can hardly breath and making my eyes water. But not today, I just had to get out of the madhouse and go cool off after learning that Rupert had been sent home from school for managing to set fire to the "nap time" supplies. I distinctly remember that I told Pat to keep that lighter from him, but Pat is such a soft touch when it comes to the kids and since green is Rupert's favorite color, Rupert got to keep that darn lighter, no matter where it came from. Where did it come from? None of us smoke, and there are absolutely no candles allowed in either household after the "birthday incident". What a nightmare that was, I think there are still some unpaid bills left from that fiasco, not to mention a few scars. Still, not quite as traumatic as the time little Panache decided that she was going to boil some water. Anyway, my lasagna arrived, piping hot, fresh from the oven. I don't know it for a fact, but I assume that they make their pasta fresh and don't use dry noodles from a box. It was the perfectly sized portion. Just right for a late lunch and would leave room for whatever was going to be served back home for supper. The flavor was stunning and perfect. Or should I say "perfecto"? What a treat this was for me. By the time I finished all my worries and cares were far behind me. I hopped back into the van and headed home, determined to make the best of any situation I faced when I got there. I can't wait to be able to take Pat here for a nice and quiet authentic Italian experience. So many menu choices and they all look wonderful. It will be a delight to discover each and every one of the offerings here. I did manage to get that lighter, Rupert isn't very skilled at hiding things. read more

As a salesman I travel quite a lot in the Midwest. I use yelp to look for out-of-the-way restaurants. I saw Genova tonight and thought I would try it. I got there at 5 PM and was the first in the restaurant. I barely had sat down when I already had the rolls and dipping sauce. Very flavorful. I ordered a chicken spaghetti dish with pineapple on top. Very delicious. The service was great. I had four different people come and ask me if I was doing OK or if I want to do anything else.The owner talked with me when I left and it felt like I was with family. I definitely will come here whenever I return on business.I thought the pricing was very reasonable also. read more

On September 13 of 2018 we came into Genova's. We had a very terrible experience. We had a very heavyset girl take our Order and our drinks. We then needed a refill, we asked more than once for a refill but yet she still didn't get it for us. The lady that took our order for our food was awesome, you guys need more people like her.
