If I could I would go lower. My husband set up an appointment nearly 2 months ago. He got a confirmation text that he responded to ASAP. When he got there today he was very rudely informed that they had canceled his appointment. They claimed to have called as well to confirm but he got no such call. When he attempted to set up an appointment as a walk-in and take his canceled spot they refused him. What kind of service is this? He even showed his confirmation on his phone and they refused that too! This place is a sham. They're unprofessional and we will never go there. We called another dentist and they scheduled him for next week! The wait for gentle dental is ridiculous and their customer service will never be justified. read more

if I could give 10 stars I would. complete honestly and transparency. I absolutely love the gental dental in Bend (and madras) I have never encountered dental staff like bend. They have gone so far Above and beyond for me on both appts I've been to. Please allow me to explain. I am recovering from cancer, stroke and 2 days later heart attack. My 1st appt, Dr.Matthews and Monica both were so compassionate and kind my teeth have been severely damaged from extensive chemo and I have always taken really good care of my teeth. I was not scheduled to have any work done. This was a consultation however, they had a little bit of time so they fixed some in the front by filling and I cried when I saw the difference ugly cry too. Lol. they are amazing. My second visitwas great i left and went next-door for lunch took a bite and one of my front teeth literally fell out shocked I jumped down from the table and literally ran back to the dentist. Two doors down. My husband had no idea what had happened. I just panicked and ran back in tears, I showed Monica what had happened. My bone density is bad because of the chemo and oral chemo that I continue to have to take and so my teeth are not very strong coupled with the damage it just fell out and I was mortified it was towards the end of the day however, Monica and Bailey fixed a temporary thing to make it fill in that area so that I didn't have to walk around with a missing front tooth very visible. These girls stayed and helped me. I felt like I was in crisis crisis to some is not to others but I sure felt like it and I was panicked. They stayed late. The office was closed when they finished they never once acted put out , Bailey did an amazing job as did Monica and I can't think these two girls enough it was Friday and they were closing and I was toothless and they literally saved me. I will never choose another dentist. This office is amazing. I see some reviews that are low based on maybe interaction at the front desk regarding appointments but we have to remember these girls are bound by policy so if it is an office policy or a dental dental policy, we can't hold the whole business responsible and also sometimes the front desk is filled in with temporary people from other offices so if you are having issues or or feel like you're being treated unfairly before we write a review that is not favorable we should make sure that that person works at that office or a station there permanently because sometimes they're just a fill-in and it's not really fair to judge the whole office based on a temporary person because I myself have had nothing but greatly above and beyond from the girls at the front desk, specifically Monica and bailey and Dr. Matthews at this office. Profits before patients!!! Never again. - note: all the good reviews are 4-5 years old. I called last month (after hours) with an emergency. I finally connected to their chap whom answers their after hours phone; I explained that I was a current patient & the painful situation (it had been 2 days of intense pain) and that I needed a script for antibiotics called in. This Heartless lad would not put me through unless I gave him my insurance card #, I explained that I did not have one; But could provide one of many numerous credit cards, if payment was an issue. He hung up!!!! Really....so much for patient care. It's interesting that their 'office manager' Chris (listed below in the only good review) reaches out to those whom have given a positive reviews. If I were trying to increase patients or profits, I would reach out to patients whom have had a poor experience. With something like this, "Hi So & So, we are very sorry you had a negative experience........." But no! This displays the lack of business experience that this company hires to manage and build their business. Here's a suggestion Chris: Actually care about patients or find a new career. Let me start off first by saying that I am TERRIFIED of going to the dentist; I chalk that up to having multiple bad experiences as a child, I even almost canceled my appointment to get a cavity filled because I was so nervous. SO glad that I didn't; the staff at Smile Keepers is nothing short of amazing! The staff is professional without being stiff; Dr. Dole, Sandy and Liz are great! They took such good care of me and made sure that I was very comfortable while getting my cavity filled. I also really appreciate that Dr. Dole listens to my concerns and is very patient and thorough in the care that he provides. I unfortunately have to get another two cavities filled tomorrow (hey, I never said it was fun) but because I completely trust the staff at Smile Keepers to take care of me, I'm not worried about anything at all. :) read more

one of the worst dentists I have ever been to in my life, On multiple occasions I have went in for my appointment and when I get there they tell me they don't have my appointment on file at all. I am not just pulling appointment dates out of thin air, I set my next appointment on the days that I am being seen and I set them with the same lady every single time. I am supposed to be getting braces put on in august but I can't exactly do that unless I get my last 2 fillings I need, I had an appointment set today at 1 and I called to confirm because normally they text you, but they didn't do that so I thought it was strange and I called, they told me I didnt have an appointment and they told me they didn't know where all of this confusion was coming from but I had all my appointments written down, like I said I'm not just pulling dates out of thin air, they told me they had me down for august 17th(when I am supposed to be getting braces) how am I supposed to do that with out my fillings, then tired to reschedule me for two months out,and this is not the first time something like this has happened, needless to say I won't be back. read more

I had been trying to get a hold of them since Monday the 2nd of March. I called and waited and eventually was sent to voice mail where I left a message. The next day I called again and was sent to voice but hung up and requested an appointment via email. Says that they will get back to you within 20 minutes, never happened. I tried the whole week and never received a response. Any business that does this is incompetent and is a reflection of their work. They obviously do not care whether you come in or not which means they don't care about their quality of work. Read all the negative reviews and that should tell you to "Stay" away from them! read more

If you have any other option than Gentle Dental I'd suggest you take it. I had a filling fall out in May 2021 and they informed me the tooth had to be extracted, which I'm fine with. However, it turns out there is only one roving dentist who performs extractions for ALL the Gentle Dentists offices and they apparently can not make appointments because it's now Aug. 6 and they informed me the earlies they can do the work is Sept.. In the meantime, the problem tooth has had the filling fall out and is decaying. Their recommendation is to only gently brush that area. Seems like if you're a dentist you should be able to pull a tooth. I'd recommend finding another dentist if you need work done the same year. read more

I went to Gentle Dental with the hope to get a good deal. Not only are the prices barely competitive, the savings plan that is being pushed is worthless. Long wait every single time, months to get an appointment, and when a temporary crown split in half and left me with a bleeding, jagged edge, I was told that there are no emergency appointments, and to deal with it til a few days later when an appointment is open. Lousy customer service, high prices and mediocre dental work. JUST GO ELSEWHERE. I know I will not return. read more

Back alley dental shop. Should have know better than to have gone in there for a root canal. Yes it failed. Mean while 4k later and missed work i have had a major hassle with this whole ordeal. I am so sad that the service has gone from great to HORRIBLE since the switch from smile keepers to gentle dental. They never answer the phone and I never receive a call back. I do want to say Dr. Mcnaughten (sp?) is WONDERFUL and I wish she would switch to a different dentist office so that we can continue to see her as, after today we will not be returning. My husband had a Really big procedure scheduled for today that he had to take a sedative before going in to have the procedure done. Once we got there we were told they were out of the solution they needed to preform the main part of the procedure. So not only did they then have to cancel our appointment after already being in the office but, we both had to miss out on a day of work because he was under a sedative and couldn't drive. We had this appointment scheduled for over a month. I am BEYOND disappointed. read more

I scheduled an appointment in March for July, the quickest they could see me. I am in desperate need of a dentist for ongoing tooth pain that is most likely a cavity. The day before my appointment, I received a message from the office stating that my appointment needed to be rescheduled. I called back twice and no one answered. I left a message to contact me in order to reschedule. No one contacted me. The day of my appointment, I received an automated text message confirming my appointment and saying that they would see me that day. I drove to the office and was told by the front desk that they had left me a message to reschedule and that I could not be seen. I told her I had called twice and left a message but had not heard a response and that I was wrongly misled that my appointment was still available via the automated text system. I was then offered to make an appointment for September. I will not make another appointment and will need to find alternate dental care. read more

I wish I could get the dental office to communicate with me about my current billing situation. This also includes the discounted dental card I paid for and did re-new this year. The first experience was with Dr. Ash. She was so negligent in her dental treatment plan it was unbelievable. Then she leaves her office and all her clients over the weekend.. I was in the beginning stage of treatment then next thing I know I am sent to another office and they find all kinds of holes in my treatment of my teeth. I did not know a company Smile Keepers would hire a person with this type of service. Then not to follow up with their customer (me) to make sure everything went as it should is really poor customer service. I was referred to this dentist by 1-800- DENTIST. I went to the appointment and the regular dentist was not available that day. My appointment was with Dr Guy. His examination of my mouth, which lasted for about three minutes, concluded by him saying "Yup, everything looks fine." That part of the exam cost me $65. He did not even address the concerns I brought up about pain in my gums. The hygienist also took a full mouth x-ray, which turned out to be an unnecessary expense as I could have just retrieved x-rays from my previous dentist (they only mentioned this as they were doing the x-rays). The hygienist conducted a satisfactory cleaning, but they did not do a flossing or provide fluoride, which I consider standard procedures. Try elsewhere. read more

I am not happy with Dr. Hallie or this dental office one bit. They have been my dentist for at least a couple of years now. Where do I start: first of all, they made me a flipper tooth, but yet I am unable to wear it because it fits too tight and starts to turn my gums raw after a couple of hours, then they tell me that they cannot fix it. Thank goodness I still have my old flipper tooth that may be on it's last legs but still fills the whole. And so I have been concerned about the tooth that sits behind the flipper tooth since at least a year ago, because they did a filling in that tooth but I always wanted to make sure that it stayed in good shape because without it, I wouldn't have anything to hold the flipper tooth in place. Anyhow, the male dentist that was probably there a year ago, Dr. Allen I think was his name, that the reason it was sensitive was because the flipper tooth rubs up against it and causes the enamel to wear off, so there wasn't much we could do about it except for a bridge which obviously I cannot afford. But the pain got so bad here in January so when I went in to have my teeth cleaned I also had her look at it and do ex rays. She said there was no cavity there and it looked fine. But eventually I will need a bridge. And her and the hygienist said, that it's probably just some staining on my filling is why it's dark. But the ex rays show nothing, although I'm feeling major sensitivity? I don't understand. NOW today I go in, and Dr. Hallie does a sensitivity test and says sorry to tell you but it needs a root canal! Why couldn't she have done this test 2 months ago to try to save it then? This makes me so frustrated I could scream. and the male dentist that was there for a short time, which I believe was the one who did the filling to begin with, should have redid the filling because he must not have gotten it all. They don't even deserve one star in my opinion. read more

I really liked this dentist. My dentist was a woman (I can't remember her name right now) and she and the hygienist were wonderful. The hygienist was extremely thorough, checking and rechecking her work as she cleaned my teeth and making sure that all my concerns were noted. She flossed them, polished them, etc. A previous reviewer complained about his cleaning. I would really recommend just asking if you have concerns. I asked questions and all of them were answered. The dentist was extremely professional and I felt really comfortable with her competency. I explained my concerns about cavities and tooth sensitivities, and she looked carefully at all my teeth. She carefully explained to me all the reasons for my sensitivity, and why she felt intervention was not a good option at that time. I had gone into the dentist prepared to pay a lot of money because I expected I had a lot of work that needed to be done. If this dentist and the hygienist were anything but honest, they could have easily gotten me to pay a lot of money without question. I recommend this dentist. read more
