She passed off my concerns to a subordinate, lied about insurance contacts, was rude and apathetic. I requested her supervisor's contact info but was refused although guaranteed her district manager would contact me. That was 6 weeks ago and I have heard nothing. I was assured that the work in question would be scheduled once they received information from my insurance carrier. I have heard nothing from Painless Dentistry although my insurance carrier approved the work 5 weeks ago. Horrible practice and I am searching for another dentist.

She never pressures her patients into any type of treatment, and I haven't had any problems with the filling she did 2 years ago. When I had questions about the filling material (I was pregnant and am breastfeeding) Dr. Deyoung did the research and was very attentive to my concerns. This really is one of most pleasant offices around, and I would recommend Dr. Deyoung in a heartbeat for any dental work.

First time I can remember leaving a dentist office that my jaw and gums weren't threatening to get even with me. Dr. O explains exactly what he will be doing and why and checks on you during the procedure to make sure you are always as comfortable as possible. When Dr. O. has made a recommendation - i.e., when to replace an old filling with a crown, I follow his suggestion because I know it will benefit my dental health. I had an old but deep filling replaced with a crown recently and was worrying about the procedure. I shouldn't have - it was painless and was completed and set in place in a truly short period of time. My husband has always avoided going to the dentist because of the pain he experienced in the past. As a result, his dental health suffered. But after having some dental work performed by Dr. O. it is no longer difficult to get him to go to the dentist for regular preventative care or for other procedures. That is a very big win! Lastly, I want to thank Dr. O: even though it is a busy practice, when I called to cancel an appointment I needed because of a family health emergency - Dr. O. and his staff worked together to find a way to fit me in so I could get my needed dental work. I really appreciated that interest in me as a patient. I would not think of recommending anyone, least of all a dentist, unless I was really satisfied that what I was doing was a benefit to others. Raquel asked me how I'd like to deal with the credit on my account and I told her, "by check", which drew a shocked look from her. We called in ahead of time and gave them the insurance information. My wife needed her wisdom teeth removed. They told us our insurance covers that. Great. So my wife went in and got the procedure done. Everything seemed super. Then... we got the bill. It was something like $400 - $500!! I'm like... what? Called them up and they're like, yeah, your insurance doesn't cover extractions. I told them that we verified this beforehand and you told us that they do cover extractions. She admitted that she said that and said she was just wrong. I'm OK, so what are you going to do about it? She's like... well, nothing, you have to pay. I'm like listen, you told me the price of the procedure up front. There were no complications and no extra charges. You can't just change the price on me by like $400 and just expect me to pay. We talked to her, her manager, etc. etc. Nobody was willing to understand. At the least, I expected to pay a reduced amount. That was my thought. It was your mistake, but I'm a reasonable guy. If the insurance is not going to pay you anything, then maybe we can split the difference. Nothing... no cooperation at all. I didn't want to deal with collections and risk my credit, so I just paid it. However, I will never go back and I will tell people I know about what they did.
