Absolute heaven! I have never been one to enjoy a facial or a manicure but their Mother's Day deals were unbeatable so of course I had to take full advantage. A facial and full manicure (2hours) for less than 100$.. sign me up! I decided to use it for a future date and the service was amazing. The wait wasn't too long and they offer you water / coffee to start. The farmhouse facial was so relaxing and smelled lovely, I was starving by the end of it! They don't pressure you to buy the expensive nail polish, (only an extra 5$ but stays on an extra week) you really just need to feel what colour is you. They also offer touch ups in case you move the polish on the way out ( getting your car keys and credit card is hard to do with no use of the tips of your fingers). I'll definitely be back. Gentle Touch Halifax has been my go-to spa for 10+ years. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, attentive and professional. They offer services for everyone, from the extremely relaxing Farm House Fresh facial to a Pixel for facial resurfacing (corrected acne scarring and fines lines and wrinkles for me). Pre- Gentle Touch I suffered from very bad acne and uneven skin tone. Lindsay H. was able to put a service and skincare package together to meet my skin's needs. I received blue-light, IPL, and microdermabrasion regularly to help correct my skin. I continue to get regular hydra facials and Clear and Brilliant laser treatments to help reduce signs of aging and dark spots and keep my skin looking fresh and bright (bonus, no down time!!) I've been using their SkinMedica, SkinCeuticals and Jane Iredale products for years and couldn't be happier. Highly recommend! read more

I have been going to this spa for little over a year now and have received hydra facials and a lash lift. I can honestly say I feel so pampered while I'm there. The prices are a tad higher than other spa's but I feel that the entire experience with the staff, the atmosphere and the professional looking equipment makes this place a go to for me. Having never had a facial before, I was interested and nervous as I have sensitive skin that can easily get irritated. I met with Anneke (I think that was her name) and she was super sweet and knowledgeable and told me lots about the products they used and what each step of the facial would consist of. The place is beautiful, but I got my nails done here and my cuticles were cut far too short resulting in bleeding in 1 nail, and cuts on 2. This was quite uncomfortable and you can probably imagine how the acetone felt going on. I figured maybe it was minor and this is something that happens from time to time, but it's been over a week and I still have a scab on my cuticle line. The woman doing my nails was nice about it, but I don't think I will be going back. read more

So , I bought one of those Dealfind promotional certificate for my wife's birthday. Went to the location on Spring Garden Rd and they knew nothing about it. Went to Queen St where they knew about but no gift certificates for the occasion only a cash register slip, and a "no problem we can do anything" which sounds great , but usually worries me. Anyway my wife went got a pedicure and a manicure and a hand massage. To be short and to the point, she is an experienced user of these services and comment " I think that the girls were right out of school , friendly but treatment was very basic. I have been going to Gentle Touch for years, they are wonderful. I have had a variety of services from laser hair removal to microdermabrasion. The owner is very hands on and takes pride in the business and the technicians are also great. I tend to stick to Lori, who was the first technician I ever saw but every once in a while due to scheduling contrainsts, I need to see someone else. I am never disappointed! read more

Visited several times for laser hair removal. Poorly trained staff - we're talking about lasers on your skin, not something you want done casually. With the exception of one technician I never felt that they were fully confident what they were doing and often missed large patches in the same area resulting in the need for a new (more $$$) visit. Appointments often not on time. Rude owner (who on my last visit was in sight of the waiting room applying her own makeup for several minutes while people were lined up at the desk). Have been to other spas since for the same treatment and see difference in results. Wouldn't go back, the bit of savings doesn't make up in the long run. read more

I purchased 5 sunless tanning sessions over a year ago and called to see if they still had record of them. They did but still refused to allow me to use them (I was not asking for a refund, only to use the services I had already paid for or equivalent)...I could see if they had no record of my payment and the lack of redemtion, but they did still have record of them and STILL refused to honour my cash paid. I have had mani/pedis and microderm services since then so it was not as if my account was inactive...THIS IN MY OPINION CONSTITUTES A TERRIBLE LEVEL OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND LACK OF INTEGRITY...Halifax is a city with many spas offering high level services, I will never use gentle touch for any service ever again. read more

I have been to this location a few times, for massage and for aesthetics.This review is for the aesthetics, as the massage therapist I have had there rates 5 stars. I had a classic facial from a lovely young girl. She was very attentive and friendly and did a great job with the facial massage. My only qualm would be with the lack of extractions during this facial, as that is why I go to have a facial in the first place. Further, I find the advertised deals, such as BOGO on spa services are not mentioned at the cash, or have hidden catches. In short, the decor is pleasing and the services are performed professionally, but the facial could use extractions and the promotions could be more straight forward. read more

I love Spirit Spa, which may be a strange way to open a review of Gentle Touch, but Gentle Touch is missing all the care and attention to service that make Spirit Spa feel like a special retreat. My first complaint is the location of the waiting room. It is open to the mall: I like more privacy. (Spirit spa has an internal waiting room with comfy seating and privacy). The team was in uniform - black smocks and pants - which looked sharp until I looked at their feet an noticed most were wearing flip flops. I asked about this and was informed that the flip flops were sold there. Now I think flip flops are unprofessional but that information provided a hint about the high pressure sales culture underlying the Gentle Touch. I went to Gentle Touch because I was interested in receiving laser treatments. The consultation felt informative, we reviewed the protocols (which I expressed concern about at the time and received assurances that if there were difficulties, help would be provided prior to the treatment), and I booked my first treatment for two days in future. After waiting in the chairs looking onto the mall, I was greeted by an aesthetician. We went to the treatment room. Apparently I had not properly followed protocol.... she did not feel she could help as promised during the consultation. Rather than charging me for a missed appointment, she went ahead with the treatment anyway, even though my target area wasn't being addressed. I was also strongly encouraged to buy a product, which I did. The next day I woke up with buyer's remorse - I knew I could not face more treatments at that place or the ongoing protocols associated with the laser process for a 12-month period. I wanted to have the remaining treatments that I had a prepaid refunded. That was not possible without me writing to the owner. She agreed to refund me. Upon my return to the shop (and another wait) they did manage to refund me but it took two people, 15 minutes and they were clearly not friendly to me. I am sure that there are people who don't mind sitting in the lobby, who don't mind junior aestheticians and don't mind the high sales culture. I'm not one of those people and would not recommend this Spa to anyone looking for a relaxing experience with qualified team members who treat you like a valued guest. read more

Terrible customer service, had a pixel treatment done here and had concerns after the procedure. My consultation was great they really know how to sell things. When I called after the procedure with questions and concerns I was spoken to so disrespectfully by the laser technician, and she got so defensive. Bottom line had burn patches on my face that were not "typical" and now I'm being told "well you signed a consent form". Anyway now trying to get proof for their laser certification and a copy of my consent form for further action and they're Ignoring me. read more

Two and a half weeks ago I treated myself to a Shellac manicure at Gentle Touch and my nails are almost still pristine (except for grow out). I've had Shellac done before but it has never lasted so beautifully. I had tea and a lovely chat with my esthetician, Holly, I think her technique might be the reason why I've gotten some much life out of the polish. The new space on the main floor of Park Lane is beautiful. It's decorated like your rich girlfriend's boudoir; if your girlfriend had a 10ft long marble countertop, fireplace and chandlers! Lastly, the price for Shellac is excellent for the downtown core $50 before tax and tip. read more

I had a manicure and pedicure at Gentle Touch - Queen St. location and can only say that I felt it was the worst manicure and pedicure I have ever had - cannot entirely blame the technician as the lighting in he room is anything but adequate. The O P I polish was not dry on my nails in one hour from painting! The foot bath consisted of sitting on the side of a very unstable bed with your feet dangling in a pan of water ...... this is not a professional foot bath by any stretch of the imagination, and the leg massage and this so called foot bath took all of 3-4 minutes total and for that I paid an extra $10.00 . On completion of the pedicure the technician put my sandals on immediately after painting the toenails .... I don't need to tell you the result of that! Purchased a Buytopia manicure/pedicure for $29 this summer was excited to book in before I went to Vancouver. Went in the day of my appointment only to be told it was cancelled because they had the wrong phone number for me. No apology just too bad for you. Decided to give this to my Aunt to use, she booked and had to cancel in 24 hours was called into work, their policy is 48 hours so she was not allowed to use it and was told she could use $29 towards something else at full price. RUDE, RUDE staff. Never will try go there again. read more

I purchased a package for my wife and shortly into using her package she became pregnant and had to put her treatment on hold. Being a military family we have been posted out of the province so we went to the shop at Mic Mac mall and requested the money back that we had not used. After the rude staff tried to keep our receipts we had asked that refund the remaining balance and they refused to refund the remaining unused balance which is over $1000. We can't believe that they are so unfair. I thought they would look after military families especially being a military oriented city! I DO NOT recommend this business to anyone. I couldn't give a rating of zero. If I could, that's what I'd give. I am very disappointed with the service at Gentle Touch. I was burned twice literally and once figuratively. One of the technicians used laser on dark hair that was too long. Instead of taking the time to razor the hairs that were sparse, she spot treated them to get it done quickly. By the way, this was one of the more experienced technicians. This treatment left multiple small burns on my legs that scarred. I later went back to get some help with removing them. I had a different technician this time. I believe she was fresh out of school. She didn't seem to know the equipment very well. First she did a hair removal treatment and then did another laser treatment on the scarred areas. Needless to say, I ended up with bigger burns (in the shape of the laser head) that blistered and scarred. I went to my dermatologist and he was horrified. He took pictures and vowed to take it to the College of Physicians and Surgeons. I told him not to and tried to work it out with the owner. She gave me a refund for that particular treatment but would not offer anything else. She cried poor which was a lie. I plan on going to the Better Business Bureau to report this. I don't think all of her technicians are properly trained and she did not take any responsibility for this. Much to my chagrin, a friend gave me a gift card to this place. This is when I was burned again (figuratively). My husband went in to buy me some product with the card and they said they had no record of it. How convenient. This is one way of getting around the law with regard to the non-expiry of gift cards. What a sham. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I warn you. Be careful. PS READ THE FILTERED REVIEWS. It's funny how all the bad reviews are "filtered" which means you have to dig for them to find them. That's sneaky and dishonest. I'm not surprised. read more
