I drive over an hour each way to see her and it's been so worth it. I originally went to see Marisa for extreme anxiety and ongoing sleep issues, after trying what felt like every modality out there: somatic exercises, journaling, therapy, BIT, meditation, breath-work...you name it. While many of those helped in their own ways, nothing truly moved the needle for me the way hypnoacupuncture with Marisa has. From my very first session, there was an obvious shift. Even the people around me noticed. After that first session, the tension in my shoulders decreased, and the only way I can describe it is that everything (physically & mentally) felt like it had been taken down a notch. Since working with her, my sleep has completely transformed. I went from having an extremely hard time falling asleep and waking up almost every hour, to now pretty much sleeping through the night. If I do wake up, I can fall back asleep easily, and I'm even dreaming a lot which I take as a sign I'm finally getting deep, restful sleep. I've seen such drastic improvements that I genuinely feel like I have a new baseline. I feel so much more in control of my anxiety now and honestly like a completely different person than I was just a few months ago. It's been truly life changing. I honestly wish I could see her weekly. The closest way I can describe how you feel leaving a session is like you just had a massage; you're so relaxed, grounded, and at ease. Marisa has truly touched my life. She is genuinely an angel. She listens, she cares deeply, and she is incredibly dedicated to her clients. I was in a horrible deep dark depression for the past 5 months solid and was desperate. The gentleman that answered was the most wonderful man named Bhaird. To my surprise and delight, Bhaird stated that "Depression and anxiety are some of my favorite things to treat!". No professional had spoke with me enthusiastically about getting better up to that point. Rather, I was told by a psychologist a days earlier that I had "a really really LONG way to go before I would get better"!! Not Bhaird. He couldn't guarantee how quickly the treatments would work, but he knew if I listened to his suggestions, gave a few a try, and scheduled the appropriate number of sessions that I would in fact find relief. I had been having thoughts of ending my life. So I figured, "What did I have to lose?" I gave it a shot. I'm so thankful I did. Prior to having these treatments, I had completely lost control of myself. I was so nervous and depressed about EVERYTHING I didn't even want to leave my bed! I would fight through the week (and it was a real struggle), but spend all evenings and weekends in my bed, crying, desperate for life again. This went on for FIVE months straight. Three of those months I cried every single day multiple times a day. I'm not sure what caused it, but I truly feared that I would NEVER again feel like myself. Too much time had passed being in that strange state. Sometime in late November I stopped working out entirely (something I have done my entire life), started eating very poorly if at all, stopped seeing or even talking to most of my friends, and just had lost the essence of my entire being! After about five weeks of roughly 2 sessions per week, I had my very first "normal" day! I decided I would keep track of how many days I felt good in a row. Since that very day, I have yet to have one more "dark" or anxious day. In fact, today I am currently at day 77!!!! Not only do I feel "normal", I feel amazing!!! Furthermore, I'm not sure if this is a direct result of acupuncture itself or just a better attitude and lease on life after going to acupuncture, but I also started taking off at work and feeling extremely passionate about what I do. (Mind you that I wanted to quit my job when I first came to the center because "I was miserable there and I couldn't do it anymore") Between the acupuncture itself and the many tools and resources that Bhaird equipped me with to combat my negative self talk and irrational fears, I feel as though my mind body and soul have been restored once again to whole. It took time. I didn't notice much of anything immediately after a session which was always strange to me, but subtly the next day would be different. And slowly but surely by utilizing the tools I had been given on a daily basis, I jumped the hurdle. I got my fitness and health back in order, I started seeing my friends again, met new and wonder people and am currently having the time of my life!
