In this paperwork - I requested that my images not be used for social media. I also indicated that seeing a PA was okay - but I didn't fully understand that meant the PA would be doing the procedure. ********************************** The good: Was able to book appointment quickly. There is a $200 consultation fee that is applicable to the procedure. Surgery was scheduled the very next day and was relatively painless. The office staff, PA, etc. were all friendly. The office was clean. ************************************* The bad: I now have a scar that is whiter and a tad bit larger than the Xanthelasma that was removed. I now feel like the small smooth yellow buttery Xanthelasma was prettier and less noticeable than the new white rough scar .. ugh.... I keep asking myself what was the point of paying around $1,200 (ouch) to have it removed. I have been using silicone gel & tape as they recommended - but it hasn't helped. I have a consult scheduled with another plastic surgeon to see if anything can be done. My photos were used for social media (Instagram story) even though I requested they not be used when filling out the paperwork. The final straw that led me to write this review - I received a bill today, almost a month later - for $200 even though I paid everything up front. This was resolved over the phone after they admitted the error. ************************************* Conclusion: I wish I had looked into this more carefully. Immediately after that visit, Laura emailed me everything we discussed in clear, detailed written form: pre- and post-op instructions, prescriptions to pick up in advance, check-in times, and all logistical details. There was truly no room for confusion. I felt fully prepared weeks before my procedure even took place. On the day of surgery, the care continued to be outstanding. Ana and Char made me feel calm and comfortable from the moment I arrived--everything from letting me choose my music in the operating room to making sure I was warm and at ease. In recovery, my PACU nurse, Tricia, was wonderful. She ensured I was comfortable, monitored my vitals closely, confirmed transportation details, and made the entire recovery process feel smooth and reassuring. However, the failure of their billing management and apathy towards fixing their own mistake is unacceptable. My procedure was preventative and 100% covered under my insurance with no out of pocket expense for myself. I had the procedure in February 2025 and Surgicare's billing coded it incorrectly as diagnostic instead of preventative. I received a $300+ bill and had to call and email Surgicare and their third party biller for almost a year before they fixed it. Surgicare would just tell me to call their biller and did not seem to care at all. I called both Surgicare and their biller at least two or three times a month for 9 months, just getting "we're working on it". I had to call HMSA after every follow up to find out what was really happening and that it just kept being billed incorrectly. This went on for 9 months. I only received help when I guessed the emails of the third party biller's executives. I finally received a confirmation that I no longer had the balance due near the end of November 2025. 9 months is a ridiculous timeframe for a simple correction. Surigcare did waive the residual tax fee for me but I don't think that makes up for their utter disregard for the situation. Surgicare's complete apathy to an error on their side has been extremely unprofessional and infuriating, I felt I had to write this especially for others. For someone else with less time, less experience with advocating for themselves, those that don't speak English well, or are on a fixed budget, this NINE month long experience would be intensely stressful and unacceptable.

On the day of the surgery, it was clear that surgery staff were professional and attentive and the doctor again walked me through the upcoming procedure. I don't think I have ever met such a caring physician and I have had more than one procedure because of my confidence in his skills. His aftercare is also amazing. When I went in for followups I did not see nurses, I always saw the doctor. If I had questions after hours, I did not have to call some impersonal service, he gives his patients his cell phone number and he either answers or returns calls quickly. He would rather come in on a Sunday to make sure that you are okay than have you wait until his office is "officially open" to see you.
