Also, call to make appointments. Zocdoc has this issue with a ton of different providers and the people here will know exactly whether he can take your insurance. Anyway, I happened to be injured with a right humeral spiral fracture several months ago and I went to Lennox Hill Hospital. I luckily had Dr. Schildhorn as my surgeon (as it had to be stabilized with an ORIF.) Along with making the pre-surgery itself comfortable, Dr. Schildhorn was courteous at all post-op visits whether they were at his office or at Lennox Hill. He is a perfectionist and wants to make sure that people have as close a range of motion to their original as possible. He also listens to complaints and offers proper responses and doesn't over-inflate any diagnoses. In short, he's an excellent orthopedic surgeon. It's hard not to be bias as my right arm is as good as new even though the surgery has potential issues. Highest of recommendations for this doctor. 5/5.

Weirdly enough I didn't see my appointment on my Northwell App. When I called the office again, I found out that they had moved my appointment to a different day. They then proceeded to move my appointment two more times without asking me. The day of my appointment, they called me 3 hours prior to see if I can come 1 hour early. I've never seen doctor's office being this unprofessional with scheduling and was nervous on going. When I arrived at the office, I was told that my insurance required a referral. I needed to get a referral on the spot or the doctor won't see me. First of all, I'm on a PPO plan where referrals aren't necessary. Also, the office have had my insurance information on file for over 2 weeks and have not contacted me once to ask if I've had a referral. The front desk lady told me that I need to call the insurance company myself to figure it out and refused to let me see the doctor! Glad I dragged my 6 month pregnant self all the way up town to just be denied seeing the doctor. Also there was no patient in the entire office, the whole place was creepy and poorly ran! And the police came in mid way and asked to question one of the medical assistants. Do not waste your time with these guys and go to a real doctor!!!

I called on 6/23/2025 to book the first available appointment with Dr. Yang, which was set for today, 7/14/2025. When I scheduled the appointment, the staff were fully aware that I had previously seen another provider at the same office. They even mentioned that they could see my follow-up appointment with the first doctor was still active. I explained that I had already canceled it and wasn't sure why it was still showing online. I also made it clear that I did not want them to inform the first doctor that I was booking with Dr. Yang. They assured me, saying, "We don't discuss our patients with other providers, so there's nothing you need to worry about." Today, when I arrived for my appointment, Dr. Yang began reviewing my history and symptoms. However, as soon as he saw the notes from the first provider I had seen, he immediately stated that he could no longer help me and that I needed to continue with the original doctor. Even after I explained why I didn't feel comfortable moving forward with that doctor, he insisted he could not see me and left the room. In the past, when I tried to see a different doctor within the same practice at other institutions (not at NYU), the staff clearly informed me over the phone that their policy does not allow patients to switch to another doctor once they have already been seen by someone in the same group. Why wasn't this clearly communicated to me this time?! I made this appointment three weeks ago and was genuinely looking forward to consulting with Dr. Yang. Instead, I could have used this time to arrange an appointment with a different doctor outside NYU. This experience completely wasted my time and money, especially since I traveled from outside New York City to see him. It feels as though, unless you're a doctor, your time simply doesn't matter.

During the 6 week post surgery checkup, it was confirmed that I do not need additional treatments besides on-going monitoring of PSA. In addition, I do not have any incontinence. This is the best outcome possible. As other reviews indicated, I also did not see Dr Tewari right before and after the surgery. His team members took care of that and to my satisfaction. However, I did meet with Dr Tewari a couple of time before the day of the surgery and at the six week post surgery checkout. His is humble and with great humanity - this is impressive given his accomplishments and status. I personally am not bothered by not seeing Dr Tewari immediately before and after the surgery. I need him for his surgical skills, not hand holding. His team members provided more than adequate pre and post surgery checks with me. This is no different from a highly skilled senior manager in the business world. He/she is not going to deal with the day to day operations and small issues - the team members could take care of that and escalate as needed. A senior manager is there to make decisions and to manage the team. Similarly Dr Tewari can use his impressive surgical skills to improve the lives of more patients if he leverages his team. It is an indication that he is not only an excellent surgeon but also a good manager who understands how to manage and leverage his resources. It is true that it is not always easy to make an appointment and at times it could be frustrating. However, given the overall experience, I recommend Dr Tewari without reservation.
