The owner, at some point in time, had a pet bear he owned and lived on premise with his large family. The history of the inn and pictures of the bear are still on the wall and in the atmosphere. Today, it's an intimate restaurant with good food and good service as well as a charming inn. We have been going there for the last few years and neither the food nor the service disappoints. I will have to say that prices are on the higher end, but so is the food. It's not easy to find good food in the area that doesn't classify as ´fast food'. Also most of the food in the area is poutine, pizza, burgers and chicken. It's nice to experience more unique options and the tasting menu is a must try. Some evening like Christmas and new year require reservations. Good lunch or dinner place. We never stayed in the inn but it looks charming as well. Ski mountain and st Anne Cathedral aren't far away. They are also famous for their Sunday brunch. That requires reservations as well. I know it's a thing but I have never tried it.

She also opened up the bar but had moved on to ring others up by the time I wanted to get a drink (perhaps they were shortstaffed that day). The highlight of the visit was the opportunity to make your own "maple on snow" or maple taffy. An assistant poured a strip of maple syrup onto a cold, snowy surface and you grab a stick and slowly roll up the syrup as it hardens into a lollipop. The taste and texture were amazing! They ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your booked time and this is so you have the tour and history of maple farming. It was worth it as we learned a lot. The dinner is in a building next door, large long tables and you dine family style and as much as you want. We enjoyed this as we met other people, both local and from another country. There was also this night a large school group. They were well behaved and we enjoyed watching them when the entertainer who was playing music got them all up for a line dance. The food was delicious and when you add maple syrup to anything it did taste wonderful. We loved it and it was an experience we are happy to have done.

I highly recommend booking the Royal Suite - the room is comfortable, opulent and very spacious. As most other people have mentioned, the designated parking garage is about a 12-15 minute walk from the hotel which you'll need to get a key for during check-in. Quebec streets and parking spots are very narrow, so just be aware if you're travelling with a large vehicle.

Phillips our host was helpful and discrete (we love discrete host since we are visiting the city and don't need to be entertained by the B&B owner). The price was more then right for the room, after searching we felt it was the best value in the area and parking was included. When we were searching a B&B we found that very few of those in old Quebec have parking facilities. At Le Château du Faubourg parking was interior and included in the price. Next time we are visiting beautiful Quebec City we will be back at this great B&B.

To start, I ordered the Tartare de Bœuf, prepared with sun-dried tomato sauce, Parmesan, sweet pickles, and crispy fried onions. For my main course, I chose the Poutine Insulaire, featuring Valupierre fries from Orléans, black garlic and balsamic sauce, green peas, bacon lardons, fresh cheese curds, and duck confit. Both dishes were exceptionally well prepared, but the standout was undoubtedly the tartare. As someone who loves steak tartare, has enjoyed it throughout France and the United States, and frequently prepares it at home, I can honestly say that the tartare at Restaurant La Goéliche ranks among the very best I have ever tasted. The balance of flavors was outstanding, creating a dish that was both distinctive and absolutely delicious. Combined with the beautiful setting, refreshing drinks, attentive service, and excellent food, it made for a memorable lunch experience.
