The service wasn't the worst. They seemed polite. My issue is that they ripped off my mother. She gave them her Echo 58v electric chainsaw for repairs, and they replaced her 4.0Ah battery with the low end 2.0Ah battery. Meaning half the charge time!! This was all covered under warranty by Echo, yet they ripped my mom off by giving her a crappy battery and keeping the 4.0Ah 58v. Very disappointed. I almost forgot to say that it took about 3 months from drop off to pick up. Once I get the problem resolved, I will update my review. read more

I called to have 2 lawn mowers that didn't work, taken away. The person answered the phone was very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The instructions i received with the warranty stated i needed to call George's for warranty repairs. I needed an engine cover for my Echo Hedge trimmer. I called Echo and found that the part is not longer available. I checked parts suppliers throughout the country. Twice they took my order and twice I was emailed that they could not deliver. "Light bulb!" I decided to call George. I figured if anyone could find that part, he could. I called. I was somewhat leery of using them because of the past couple of Yelp Reviews from awhile ago. My Cub Cadet Riding Lawn Mower was in serious need of service as it was unusable. I called, spoked to a gal on the phone, explained the problem, setup an appointment, brought the mower to them on Tuesday Feb 16th. Explained the problems again to the service tech, He said they'll probably have to order some parts and they'll call when it's ready. On Thursday Feb 18th, at noon, she called and said its done. This was the first time I went to this place...it will also be the last. A few different negative points I have about this place. The lady at the front has ZERO customer service skill. This place is WAY too expensive. I could have spent an extra $30 and bought a brand new Weedwhacker for what they charged me for a simple carburetor cleaning. Lastly, when I got home I tested out my "fixed" Weedwhacker and nothing has changed. It still wouldn't work correctly. Who knows if they did anything to it at all. Georges has really gone down hill over the years. Years ago they had good workmanship but the customer service wasn't the best by the two women who worked the counter or even the owner George. But they did fairly good work on the equipment. Now, 2018, customer service still sucks, the two women and they even had some tweaker guy working the counter. George has passed on and the work they do completely sucks. I brought a lawn mower and blower there this year to be fixed(carbs rebuilt, other misc stuff) got them both back 2 months later and they still run like crap. i wouldn't recommend them at all and I dont think the two women really even care to tell you the truth. I dropped my couple year old mower off for service in JANUARY OF 2017 for a simple tune-up that I should have done myself. It is still not ready and I cannot get an explanation from anyone. I have spoken to Shelly, who says she is the owner, on at least 10 occasions. Today she told me that she would look into it tomorrow as they were shutting down early because of the heat. I think I'm going to start a business and get better ratings than these guys. I took my weed eater there they couldn't fix it. still acts just as rough as it did the first time after they charged me $75. took my lawnmower there thinking it was just a fluke and the same thing with the lawn mower, works worse now than it did before they just put some random gas line on it now it gets too much gas. these guys are like the epitome of the shade tree technician. They have no clue they don't use the part they're supposed to and it takes about 2 weeks. These people are very dishonest. They repaired my tool before verifying the warranty was good. They told me they would wait to start after hearing from warranties. I thought it was under warranty but at some point it was decided that the damage was not under warranty and I had to pay out of pocket. I wouldn't have spent the money to repair it if I knew that. I would give 0 stars if there was an option. I dropped my lawnmower (under warranty) off on June 12th for repairs at the referral of the manufacturer. It is now two months later and I still do not have a lawnmower. There aren't words to express my frustration after dealing with this shop. I followed up with them weekly to check on progress, the woman who answered the phone (I was told today that she no longer works there) always seemed irritated that I would be calling but failed to ever check in with me as promised multiple times. After waiting for parts and failing to fix my lawnmower I am now waiting on a replacement from Greenworks BUT because George's failed to submit the paperwork correctly in a timely manner, after waiting for two weeks for my unit to show up, I had to call in AGAIN today to take care of this problem. I love supporting local small businesses but when they fail to conduct themselves in a professional manner they lose my business. I have moved to dealing with only my lawnmower company at this point. I brought my Ryobi electic expand it power head in to be replaced. For some reason it took months to get the replacement . When I called to see if it was ready they said yes and come on down to pick it up. When I arrived they couldn't find it. They said to give them a few days, which I did, and when I returned they still couldn't find it. They offered me a gas powered head as a replacement. I was not happy about it because I prefered the electric power head, but faced with making all of my attachments useless, I accepted it. They started it to show me that it worked, but when I got home for some reason it would not start up. Just the fact that they lost my power head is enough for me to not return. I would rather they gave me the gas powered one as a loaner until they could find mine, but I never went back. I would not use this shop if I were you. read more

First off, I am a certified auditor (bet they thought I was kidding when I mentioned this). I purchased a factory reconditioned chainsaw from Newegg. Did not get a chance to test it until 40 days after receiving the unit. It was extremely hard to start and would not idle at all. After calling the seller, they offered to either replace or repair. George's took this unit in and worked with the seller for warranty service. The unit works well now including the idle. The work and communication took a little time but the unit was fixed and the warranty covered the cost. The only shortfall was that I had to call and ask for the status. I dropped my Honda mower off on the 5th of August for a problem with the self propelled unit. The cable was faulty. I was told they would look at it for $25.00 and call me if the bill was over $100.00. The following Friday I stopped by and was told by a rather sarcastic and disinterested female that the part was on order and would be in on the following Tuesday. Hearing nothing again I called and was told that the wrond part was sent and that my mower would be done on tuesday the 23rd. I called and was told the part did not come in. I then stopped by on Wednesday the 24th and was told that the part still didn't come in. I stopped b y again on Thursday the 25th and was told that the part I need is on back order and there is no way of knowing when it will come in. The woman said she waited three months once. I cannot believe that a business that has been around as long as this one can treat their customer with such contempt. All they would have had to do is tell me the truth. Dropped off my pressure washer to be fixed. Bad idea to drop off at this horrible place. The lady that works here gives you this a FML look/attitude. Isn't friendly one bit. She told us that since they were so backed up, our machine wouldn't get looked at for at least a week an a half. And she would call with an update. No call over two weeks. We had to call. She still said they haven't checked it. After that we had to make 3 more calls (once a week) and still no update. FINALLY- a month and a half later, we get a call saying that they found the problem and are waiting for our insurance to contact them back to see if it covers. Then another week later, got another call saying it was done. And luckily that rude lady wasn't there when we came to pick up our pressure washer. George's is contracted by Sears as a repair station for their lawnmower line. After sitting for 10 days my fairly new Sears Craftsman lawnmower would not start. I called Sears since the mower was still under warranty- they directed me to George's in El Cajon California to determine the problem. I dropped the mower off (March 7) and they explained it would not be ready for at least 4 weeks. On April 10th George's called and informed me that Sears warranty does not cover gasoline/carburetor issues. I called Sears and they also said the warranty does not apply. I then phoned George's and they claimed that when Sears warranty does not cover the repair then they automatically bill the customer without consultation and this was explained at the time I dropped the mower off (it wasn't). While I was at George's one of the repairmen had me fill out the paperwork and I left with no knowledge of their payment policy. I attempted to explain that I was not given any of the information to automatically be charged if Sears denied the warranty- the female phone person at George's hung up on me. I called back and was treated rudely and disrespectful by the female phone persons. I called Sears to report the incident and they too experienced the rudeness and unprofessional behavior of the repair shop. Sears pushed the matter up to upper management to deal with the situation. I believe Sears will not be having George's as one of their repair shops in the very near future! George's repair shop is filthy with the entire shop in disarray. I bought a used chipper from them and managed to jam it in the first two hours of use, burning up a belt in the process. I took it back and they graciously cleared the jam and replaced the belt while also giving me some additional service tips. Good service and a great attitude from the service desk and mechanics. I called Georges yesterday to try to get my mower fixed and get a quote, the gentleman that answered the phone was really helpful and honest so i was like ill bring it to you to look at. He asked me where i was at and the wait time was about 2 weeks at that shop and to go to his other shop on Washington st. I went to his other shop and one of the workers named Jay came out to greet me and asked what he could do to help me, i told him the problem, told me wait here ill be right back. Well Jay came back bout 5 minutes later and said i think i can fix this,Jay was doing his thing repairing the mower, it took maybe a total 10 min from the time i got there and he came out and said all fixed. I took a box of parts to them, a chain saw. Asked them to get it running. When I came back, it wouldn't run...The told me I never asked them to make it run, only put it together???? Took a chain saw in to have it put back together after my friends stepson took it apart after the first use. They asked me when I checked in and paid the $25 deposit if it ran, and I told them it was brand new (used once). When I picked it up, it was an additional $7, total $32 and the chain bar was upside down. It wouldn't run at idle. I took it back to have the chain put on proper and told them it didn't idle. They wanted another $25 deposit and then they tried to tell me that when I initially brought it in I told them not to start it. Why would anyone have a chainsaw put back together for $32 bucks and tell them not to start it and see if it runs right. One of the girls behind the counter was condescending and actually laughed at me. I refused to give them more money. I have purchased a weed eater, and blower from them. I had dropped a weed eater and blower for repair before, and now I am questioning their diagnosis that they weren't worth fixing. Rude, and incompetent. They obviously don't need my business. It's been 6 weeks. They first repaired the wrong tiller and now i've been waiting for weeks to get my transmission/gearbox repaired. They don't call and give you an update. They said they only call when items are ready. Their customer service is the worst I've ever seen. So much for trying to support local business. I called: Your transmission's on back order, it'll be here in a few days. Next: When it gets here tomorrow or the next day, we'll "work your ticket" first thing. 3 days later, I called: Your ticket is next, we're going to start it today. I called 2 days later: It's being worked now and we are half way into it. 2 days later: We are half way through it, we'll call you when it's done (with attitude from the lady on the phone).
