I'm writing this follow-up because Drew's defensive response to our original review on August 26th was both disappointing and unprofessional. Instead of addressing our concerns, he chose to deflect them. I want to be clear about why we left the review in the first place: to share our experience honestly and to warn potential customers about what they may encounter if they choose to hire Just Installed Now. We recently hired Just Installed Now to install a mini split. However, the unit never cooled properly--it only blew warm air. Drew's "solution" was to suggest I call a contact of his to add refrigerant. When I brought in a separate licensed technician, the issue was obvious: the valves had never been opened during installation. Cost of original work: $1,050. At the same time, Drew was also hired to install two ceiling fans (one ordered from Amazon, one from Decorprice). Both shook and wobbled immediately after they were wired. I had to point this out to Drew, who seemed unaware of the problem. He blamed the manufacturers and offered to return once new fans were ordered. After repeated delays and difficulty getting him back, I replaced them myself--only to discover the original fans had been installed incorrectly. Cost of original work: $775. And although the work was completed nearly a year ago, we only recently discovered serious safety concerns with the two subpanels Drew claimed to have "replaced." Instead of properly installing new panel boxes as invoiced, he only swapped out the internals--likely because the new boxes didn't fit between the existing studs. Rather than doing the job correctly by opening up the wall and making space, he took the easiest shortcut and left us with sloppy, unsafe work. On top of that, he wrapped multiple grounding wires together under a single terminal and reused mismatched breakers--including some not compatible with the "new" Eaton panel. The result was not only misleading and overpriced, but a clear safety hazard. Cost of this poor work: $2,100. It's also worth noting that Drew became increasingly unreliable with scheduling--often arriving late or not showing up at all. This wasn't an issue early on, but by the end it became a consistent and frustrating pattern. I don't normally leave reviews, but this pattern was impossible to ignore. What we experienced was overpriced, careless, and unsafe work. For anyone considering hiring Just Installed Now, be warned: there are far better, more reliable, and safer options available. read more

Had a mini split installed and 2 ceiling fans (my husband had to reinstall 1 fan himself because he said it wasn't done properly), there was an issue with the light switch wiring also in one room. After a couple of weeks we had an appointment for them to come fix the issues with the service and they cancelled only after we texted to see where they were today, literally no communication - super hard to get a response from in order to have a follow up in the first place. The property management company for a complex in which I own a condo contracted with Just Installed Now to replace failing 1970s vintage electric panels in the units. Just Installed made several quotes depending on the owner's situation. My unit had a scope of work that included moving the panel to meet new code requirements in addition to swapping out the panels. Turned out "Drew" did not move the panel as it apparently was in an approved location. When I asked for a refund of this portion, he flatly refused. read more

Drew originally came out to my house for a site survey for my additional solar and additional battery installation in early 2022. I talked to Drew explaining what I was hoping to get from the additional installation. Fast forward almost an entire year and after all permitting and all the other hoops that one has to jump through to get solar Drew returned to finally install both the battery and solar. Once Drew arrived he remembered me and my request and he reassured me that he was still going to meet my request and that there should be no issues with the installation. On Oct 9 2023 I used my Fidelity National home policy to fix a circuit breaker which made back yard lites inoperable for past 20 years because the last electrician could not figure out the problem. We needed a 240 volt outlet installed for an electric car charger as well as a panel upgrade to accommodate it. We also had some flickering throughout one side of our house. Drew is the Chief Estimator and Electrician who answered our service call - which turned out to be a major sub panel failure. He explained the problem and showed us the burned fuses and fuse box. He also worked with our home warranty company, Fidelity National. He was able to get us back on line during the heat wave and then returned to replace the sub panel. He did the work needed on time and for a fair market price. We also engaged him to replace the second sub panel and install a large ceiling fan in our great room, which has a vaulted ceiling, and lighting in another room that we decided to renovate - partly made possible because we found this reliable electrical company. Disappointed in these contractors. I originally gave them a great review, but after I was informed their work is not up to code. That expectation is that all electrical wiring run through the studs behind walls must be protect with a metal plate to prevent someone from nailing something in by accident and starting a fire. I informed Andrew McGuire - the electrician and owner of JIN Electric. He responded "it's not my job to protect the electrical wires. That's the job of the drywaller." This response was what changed my view of this business. (1) Electric codes and standards for electricians are established to ensure the electrical work is safe for consumers. To just point fingers that it's the non-electricians job to know the electrical code makes absolutely no sense. How does a drywaller who is not educated in electrical work, know to protect electrical wires? Would that make sense to anyone. (2) Andrew McGuire then indicated I requested a partial refund of my payment because I'm cheap. Well he stated the metal wall plate costs $3 at Home Depot to ensure the wires are protected and that I should have just installed it myself. Well HOW THE HELL DO I - A LAY CONSUMER - know to tell a drywaller to install a metal plate when I am not a licensed electrician? I requested a partial refund in order to have the drywall re-done. I had agreed to get a drywaller to patch the holes from adding the outlets, but to go back in to re-add those $3 metal plates, I'd have to pay the drywaller all over again. So who in the end is the cheap person? If he - the electrician knew metal plates only costs $3 - wouldn't he have wanted to add it to ensure his work is up to code or at least told me it was required. If it was his oversight, shouldn't he accept responsibility and pony up the money to ha e his oversight fixed? (3) He tells me he already did $300 of free labor and shouldn't owe me a partial refund. Well the free labor he did was rotate on pair of light switches. He initially quote me for $50 per switch. It's somehow now $300 worth of work. In addition, he told me my payment for that "free labor" would be a 5 star review on Yelp. I did give him a 5 star review initially, so consider his "free labor" paid for. Honestly, if Andrew McGuire and JIN Electric want to be professional and ensure the safety of their clients, just approve my request for a partial refund of $300 of the $1050 I paid. That's the equivalent of the work for two outlets - $150/outlet for 7 outlets. I am not requesting a refund for the entire job. It covers for the drywall work to get done again. read more

As a woman it's really hard to find someone who is not going to take advantage of the situation because I don't know what needs to be done and how long it'll take. I needed track lighting to help my salon become brighter. Jason came to my hair salon in el Cajon and explained to me that Jin Electric only uses quality materials to get the job done right. He explained every detail step by step and made me feel extremely comfortable with what was going to be done. We contacted my home warranty provider about some electrical issues we were having with our intercom and a ceiling fan. Fortunately for me they sent JIN Electric. Our technician Drew had 19 years of experience. He was highly capable and worked quickly, providing clear information. He explained options including solutions to both issues that were the most cost effective. He offered to fix the improperly wired fixture at a reasonable cost. So far we are very impressed! Drew responded to our call quickly, and came out within a couple of days. He identified the problem and fixed it in one visit. We had another "solar" electrician come a few months ago who charged us $350, told us the system is working, and left.
