I had a very very bad experience with this clinic after my dog went in for a simple tooth extraction. My dog never recovered her hearing after the surgery and a few months later developed lymphoma and subsequently passed away. Coincidentally immediately after the surgery - I was hit with a bill around 50% more than quoted and when I queried this I was advised that to get my dog 'under' they needed to use a huge amount of anesthetic - a lot more than normal. I would not trust this place with an animal, especially one you love. read more

I have taken both of my dogs to this clinic for the past 2 years because of a referral by a friend. I really hate to use the analogy, but going to the vet is like getting your car fixed. You never know what the final total cost will be. My most recent trip to the vet was what I was hoping would be a low cost visit - just a check-up. ($65.45 on the invoice) A few days before the check-up, a prescription was ready for renewal ($123.40). My dog went in, had his check-up and then was taken to the backroom to get his nails cut (free). When they brought my dog back to the front, they had added a fecal exam ($55.30) and another prescription ($34.30) without asking me. To the clinic's credit, when I told the manager about the unwanted up-charges of $89.60, she was very apologetic and promised to make sure that future visits would have a note to provide an estimate in advance (they don't do that for everyone?!?!?) but there was no offer to reverse any of the charges. The vets all seem very caring and the staff is friendly but, like a car service, one has to be careful with surprise extra charges. Always ask for estimates in advance. read more

The staff is friendly and the vets are knowledgeable. However, I have taken 2 cats there for treatment and there's always some part of the treatment they can't do that day so you have to come back for another visit. One of my cats needs to be sedated and going to the vet is extremely stressful for her. They need to make sure everything gets done in one visit if at all possible! After agreeing to bring her in twice (because she did have a problem that I felt should be monitored) They wanted her to come back a 3rd time. Every time, both cats, incomplete visits requiring a follow up. I think this place is unfortunately more interested in milking some money out of you than the best interests of your pet. I brought my dog to Georgetown for14 years. When he was 2 years old I spent 8,000 removing a tumor under his armpit. Once he got cancer again I tried to get more information and support from the doctors and staff - No one cared. I would call every day for info about scans and medication for his pain. Days would go by without a call from my vet, - and if she call, it showed up as Unknown caller. When I expressed my anger about what was happening to GAC cut me off - "Discharged me". I was no longer welcome to do business at Georgetown. My dog is still alive, suffering. Other vets won't take him because GAC has labeled me "a problem". read more

I've been taking my dog to Georgetown since I got him as a puppy over 10 years ago. The building is clean, and bright. On the hottest day of the summer, it's comfortably cool inside. On the coldest dreariest winter day, it's bright and fine at GTown. Everyone who works at GTown is professional, friendly, and knowledgable - from office staff, technicians, doctors...the greatest! Besides the routine visits for physical exams, blood tests and shots, GTown takes care of things when problems flare up. Getting an emergency appointment is as simple as phoning them - they take care of it promptly i.e. that day. They are very flexible. My dog has had numerous problems throughout the 10+ years that we have known each other and GTown has handled each situation promptly, cheerfully, superbly, and at a reasonable price. Having written this I must admit that my dog can't wait to get back in the car after any visit. But that's just because he's a big baby. read more

Took very good care of my chinchilla, knowledgable staff that care about your pets I thought that taking my exotic pet to a veterinarian would be expensive but it was only $50 for a full physical and we were looking for a broken bone but it turned out to be a false alarm. I love this clinic. Absolutely love the clinic and would recommend it to anyone asking about vets. My experience here started when unfortunately, I had to bring my Cairn Terrier, Toto in for an emergency. It turned out that he had kidney failure and passed away while in their care. They did everything they could for him and made him as comfortable as possible. It was heartbreaking, but they were extremely kind. I returned about a year later with my then puppy, Jack. They were really great then... and still amazing to this day. I have never had a problem with scheduling appointments, getting in for emergencies, or with the clinic answering any of my millions of questions at times. They are very patient and helpful. My schedule appointment time is always on time. I think the most I have ever waited was five minutes. I like that I get a detailed bill at the end of the procedure and if I request it, I can get an estimated cost of a procedure BEFORE they do it. I have never been pressured into getting or having anything done to my guy that I didn't want... and if I said, "No, thank you." That was the end of it. I love this place and will always be bringing my furry family members here. read more

At first I liked them... However, one of the vets there is very condescending, she belittles you if you have some medical knowledge. She told me my cat was an uncontrolled diabetic, my cat has been on insulin for a while now, read her records... She also told me my male cat was perfectly healthy, although he had been showing signs of a possible heart issue with back leg weakness and vomiting -- I relied on her judgement that he was perfectly healthy, he died of CHF 6 months later. If you ever feel something isn't right, get a second opinion, trust your gut. read more

This clinic almost killed my cat!!! Thank god another vet stepped in and investigated. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT! Dr. Harris told us that we had 3 options, to surrender our cat to the SPCA or do a 4,500 exploratory surgery or put our cat down. We couldn't afford that surgery. And we couldn't surrender our cat. So we were going to put our cat down. We even dug a grave. Came back the next day to put her down and Dr. Yana saved our cat. With a SIMPLE x-ray that could of been done but wasn't. Dr. Yana is this clinic saving grace! I hope this review helps others in making their decision in choosing a vet. read more

People who come here love it, apparently. If your pet has big needs, they're fairly well staffed and specialized, and they can take care of things. Me, I just want the bare bones - my pets are healthy, well cared for, and like majority of human beings, they're unlikely to come down with some freak animal disease. Yet every time I come here, I get the full sales pitch - feline HIV, leukemia, cancer, and so on - they're all coming for my cats, so I should more than consider the shots today. Fear of the animal gods is put into me, and brochures are stuffed in my hands as I try to rebuff each and every offer. I feel like I'm an unwitting participant in some cat healthcare infomercial: "if you act now, we have a 3-shot special that will save you 35%, but only today!" Coming in for just a well visit & a rabies shot is this type of hassle each time. read more

Staff members are knowledgeable and take the time to answer questions. Dr. Scott and the veterinarians on staff know the current literature and best practices. They take the time to present us with our options. The staff is able to meet the unique needs of each dog, rather than a "one size fits all" approach. We are so happy we switched to Georgetown Animal Clinic! Everyone is extremely friendly, the front desk, vet techs and Vets are all amazing! We had come from Alliance Animal Hospital and after much stress from them and lots of unnecessary money spent we made the decision to switch. They had gotten us in right away for an initial exam as we were in the process of getting our dog spayed. Less than a week after they got us in for spaying. The other place was taking months of tests after tests that didn't need to be, just wanted money. Anyways I would highly recommend Georgetown to anyone and everyone! read more

I highly recomend Georgetown Animal Clinic to all of my friends and family members. We began using them about 15 years ago with our first dog and two rabbits. At this time we adopted two rescue Terrier's that are cared for by the Dr.'s and staff at Georgetown. They provide excellent pet care and customer service, clearly explain details and will give an estimated cost of every vaccination and procedure prior to doing it. The wait time for appointments is minimal, it is a very bright and clean facility and the staff is excellent taking questions over the phone as well. We have called in with unusual emergency situations and they always respond in a very timely manner. Love them !! I give them a TEN out of TEN !! read more

Dr. Sorge is usually the Doctor we see, and she is TERRIFIC, the rest are good as well. Georgetown Animal Clinic is the premier vet clinic in Western New York. Our two Siamese cats had problems and Georgetown quickly and correctly diagnosed and treated both. The entire staff was super friendly and professional. In the case of Joey who had a urinary tract problem, they were especially knowledgeable, up-to-date in the latest research, and caring. We had been to 2 vet emergency rooms and another vet hospital previously and we found that there is considerable variance in knowledge. The other 3 vet clinics were basing their treatment on older knowledge that was out of date. Each of the 3 other vet clinics was very confident in their diagnoses and recommendations. Yet each of the other vet clinics were over-confident and were not giving us the correct picture of the situation and they were definitely not giving us the correct recommendations. Each place recommended changing the cats over to a urinary tract formula (hard food diet, also very expensive). Each place recommended "tough love" ... meaning switching the cats over to this new diet right away, even starving them for several days until they switch over. This was presented to us as the only right way. The problem was they were wrong and it was unnecessarily cruel. Fortunately, we went to Georgetown and discovered Drs. Sorge and Leys and their staff. We also found that Georgetown uses the most up to date equipment (cold lasers, ultrasound, ... etc.) in addition to having the best educational credentials around. So, ... I give Georgetown the highest rating possible. They brought us peace of mind and got our guys back to health. I will just add that they took the time to properly explain the research and latest research and scientific consensus in this area. They were not closed minded but very intelligent and they treated us as intelligent partners in the equation. A great experience! read more

If I could select negative stars I would. My dog was coming to Georgetown for about a year and a half, and everything was fine till we asked to have a lump removed from his rear. They of course said they would be able to do it that day(perfect since I was getting married in 2 weeks.) They took him for half a day before calling me and saying that his blood levels were off and they could not perform the surgery, and would give us medication to help with the "issue". My dog, a 6 year old bullmastiff, has never had any issues outside of his allergies which they had put him on Apoquel for. When I was picking him up they told me his kidney levels were high and his platelets were low. Meaning he could have cancer or early kidney failure or Lepto or Lyme or a bunch of other conditions. When I asked if they could test for these they said that the tests were not accurate (first line of BS). We follow up with another blood test where his platelets increased but now he was anemic, somehow. They told us he could have all of the above and threw on internal bleeding for good measure. The meds started to have a reaction and he began having horrible diarrhea and he could no longer keep his food down(ALL SIDE EFFECTS FROM THE ANTIBIOTIC). When I called them to see what I should do they told me to keep giving him the meds and prescribed an antidiuretic and told me to give him a bland diet. Well that didn't help, with one day maxing with 8 vomits, the last one tinged with blood. I called again asking what I should do, they then told me to take him to the OP hospital. I SUGGESTED TAKING MY ONCE HAPPY AND HEALTHY DOG OFF ALL OF THE MEDICATION THEY PUT HIM ON. They said sure you can try that.(second line of BS) A week goes by and he is starting to keep meals down, and his stool starts to go back to normal. We have our check up and yet another blood test. They put my once healthy weight dog on the scale and see he had lost 10lbs in a week. Now tell me, if you or I couldn't eat, drink or more without vomiting for 4 days how much weight would you lose? Well, they didn't care, the vet refused to see him! Told us we had to go to the OP vet hospital because in her "25 years of vet experience, the drug reaction would not cause this type of weight loss. And that there is obviously something bigger happening like cancer"(line 3 BS). So I go. Drive the 45 mins to OP wait 6 and a half hours , where they can miraculously run accurate testing for both Lepto and Lyme disease and retest his blood. And guess what! He had NO diseases , and his blood work was better. And guess what the emergency vet said, " this was all a reaction from the medication he was on" So after all of this bullshit, tears, and unnecessary bills, and a trip to the ER vet. Do you think they called to follow up? To even ask how he was doing? Nope! And when I called to switch vets , do you think they asked why, nope. But, they know they were wrong. Save yourself time and money and even your pets life and go to a knowledgeable vet, who has techs who know how you run blood work. read more

Definitely a positive experience! The staff was welcoming and relaxed and competent. We were taken into the exam room right away and our long haired cat Bella was surprisingly relaxed. Our Vet tech was so friendly as was the Doctor. All of our questions were answered and in addition to the exam, Bella's nails were trimmed and a small section of her fur was shaved for her comfort. The reception area as well as the exam room was very clean and fresh and we are quite glad we chose Georgetown. It really was stress free and the staff was wonderful. read more

Best Vet clinic ever! I Was visiting my parents in Williamsville from Florida when my bulldog hurt her back leg over the weekend I called first thing Monday morning to see if I could get her in quickly. They answered right away, were super friendly and got my dog in at 10:30 that same morning. Once I arrived all the girls from behind the counter came out to see my dog and pet her. Everyone was so friendly. I filled out some paper work since I was never there before and as soon as I was done they called us back. Dr. Newman was so nice and did a thorough physical exam. They didn't call for any unnecessary tests or X-rays. Luckily it was just an ACL strain so she was prescribed an anti inflammatory/pain meds. I was so happy with this clinic.
