I had…read moreundergone 35 radiation treatments to fight throat cancer that left the bone underneath my gums compromised. Dr. Maxwell reviewed my history along with my x-rays and gave me a preliminary diagnosis. He then proceeded with a new extensive set which confirmed his original diagnosis. The doctor gave me a plan to resolve my issues which was my teeth were chipping and cracking due to the lack of blood flow to bone underneath the gums. The bone was so compromised that it wouldn't stand up to implants so the doctor recommended dentures. The process would have to start with the blood flow being restored through hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Dr. Maxwell needed my medical records to build a case for the insurance company. Immediately I thought about the hoops I would have to jump through to get them to him. The only thing that I had to give him were the names of my doctors and his staff took care of everything. The staff at Coastal Carolina is the best I've ever seen and I've been to more medical facilities than I could count. Through all my visits there the only thing I had to do is sit back and open my mouth. The staff took care of everything in an extremely friendly, compassionate and efficient way . . . they all followed Dr. Maxwell's example. It did take months for the doctor to prepare me for the dentures that Dr. Hortman made for me. The two doctors worked hand in hand through the whole process to restore my mouth. I highly recommend Dr. Maxwell and Coastal Carolina Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. My appointments were on time, never having to wait long. Also, I would see that all his patients were treated with the very high standards I was. Good luck with your journey, if you choose Coastal Carolina you'll be in exceptional hands

Horrible team, find a different dentist, you will be extremely disappointed with these people.

I traveled from another city to do this procedure and I really don't see myself going anywhere else to get such a surgery done!! Definitely worth it!! I had to take 4 wisdom teeth out. Dr. Booth conducted my procedure. The office staff was very nice to work with. It is very easy to book an appointment and get it at a reasonable time. They also did follow-ups the next day to check on my recovery! The surgeon and the nurse really cared about preventing as much discomfort as possible. They really cared about smoothly sedating and coming out of it which was very important to me. The surgeon explained the procedure very well. He also did the PRF therapy that helped with faster healing. I would highly recommend that... I am no expert but it felt like he ensured to cause the least invasion possible when extracting the teeth. They gave very good instructions for healing and pain management. I did everything that the surgeon recommended and my recovery was smooth and successful!

He said I needed a biopsy for a sore inside my cheek. No explanation of what was wrong, why the biopsy was needed nor what the procedure would involve. The nurse working with him was extremely rude and was not at all apologetic for our wait time and total frustration. I would never go back there.

That included our dentist being the amazing Dr. Hester. The office was a shambles but the practice was perfect. After Dr. Hester sold to young Dr. Rinehart we were concerned about the change. Our fears turned out to be without merit as Dr. Rinehart and his staff have kept the best aspects of Dr. Hester's practice and implemented an impressive modernization of services. We trust Dr. Rinehart and his staff to provide top quality care taking into account the value of your time and the impact on your finances. More than once they repaired something for a fraction of the cost of replacement. He's not out to line his pockets like the others, he's out to be an advocate for his patients. All of his staff are kind, understanding and helpful. We have yet to encounter anyone in that office who wasn't top notch. We strongly recommend you drive the extra few minutes into Georgetown or visit his new office in Pawleys. You'll be able to tell the difference between his practice and the money grubbers after your first visit.
