My skin has been super dry and dull lately, plus I got a terrible night of sleep on the plane, so I was beyond glad Chi Yu was able to take me as a walk in. Noriko was so sweet and friendly, as was the lady who checked me in at the front (I didn't get her name). The facility is clean and cozy, offering tea or water when you arrive. The facial with products includes eminence products which all smelled and felt incredible. They also specialize in Japanese Cosmo Lifting Massages and Noriko integrated some of that into my facial, which was great and something new for me. The facial was so relaxing I'm pretty sure I fell asleep. I'll definitely make this my spot whenever I'm in London!

I was dreaming of some relief and started to do a quick search on Yelp for somewhere quite near my office. Nothing too laborious as my day was packed...so just a quick tune-up via chair massage was in order. Chi Yu to the rescue! Lovely staff and very welcoming. From making the appointment, to arrival, and situation all the way to checkout and bidding them adieu, everyone was so very nice. Somewhat sad that this is not a given, but in London it certainly isn't! This makes Chi Yu stand out. I made an appointment for same day with Rie, who was great. I was escorted downstairs to the treatment area, and given 30 minutes of chair massage. Brilliant, just what I wanted. She was very communicative and definitely helped ease the tension. I probably need one every day for a month to really work it out, but this really helped. I took a menu and will definitely be back. Really like the vibe of this place, the atmosphere (also SUPER clean), and the service offerings. Facials, beauty + Wellness massage, reflexology, Thai massage, etc. £15 (plus a bit extra for Rie) --- well worth it.

I filled out the form and the doctor saw me right away. He did a 3-5 minute assessment of my shoulder issue and then had me lay on the table and proceeded to do acupuncture, which is not what I came in for. I decided to let it go and he put a bunch of needles in my shoulder and neck. Then had me roll over and did the same to the front. I will say that I my frozen shoulder did feel 50% better BUT he kept mentioning that he recommended me to take herbs to help for 5 weeks at 70 GBP per week. I declined. Then when I went to leave another person was at the counter with a bunch of herbs already bagged up told me the same that the doctor recommended the herbs for 5 weeks. I said no, and he said that there is a discount so the 5 weeks would cost 50 GBP per (250 GBP) I declined and as I went to leave he told me that the 55 GBP was for the consultation and that the acupuncture was 90 GBP. In the past month I've had acupuncture done in New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco . This was more expensive than ANY of these cities. I think that the doctor was good, but the practices of the office leaves much to be desired. None of the other acupuncture places that I went to ever suggested herbs for the muscles in my shoulder. One sold me a muscle balm, which makes more sense. Beware

She recognised that I had quite a lot of pain in my shoulders and neck, and worked hard at them to decrease the pressure I was feeling. I've never had a massage that was so "medical," if that makes sense -- she asked numerous questions, and really seemed to care about my wellbeing. I wasn't sure about acupuncture at first, and told her I only wanted a massage, but she put a few needles in my back at the end of my hour-long session, and I found it really calming. I actually ended up committing to five more acupuncture sessions, which she recommended to treat my back. The second appointment I had with her, she actually arranged for a chiropractor friend, Andre, to work on me -- I'd not had chiro before, but I felt so much better after walking out of there! It was a bit challenging as I had to work on my breathing, but I've found myself standing a lot straighter since being stretched out. I'd definitely recommend seeing Chi if you have any aches and pains -- while a standard massage is relaxing, her technique and acupuncture is incredible. Just try and ignore that you're tucked away in a box-like room above a tanning salon, and you'll feel so relaxed and better for it. The location is amazing, however -- really close to Selfridges.

See, its the thing, when you don't expect it and that is surprisingly beautiful- it was the same case with Neal's Yard. and not everyone will say that - 'hey going to London, do visit this small courtyard' . Nope, it was all part of my research... , It's only about 5 minutes from Covent Garden market, and there are two alleyways that lead to it, but they're not particularly easy to spot: one is via Monmouth Street and the other is via Short's Gardens, which is just off Neal Street. With buildings creating a triangular courtyard, it's a small location for a few restaurants and shops. There are some great spots to try here particularly if you're in the mood for breakfast, a tasty donut or pizza, but this isn't necessarily a destination in and of itself. The buildings are beautiful and colorful, but I would not make this a destination to visit. Rather, if you find yourself in the area, you can take a few minutes to walk through!

From the owner: Acupuncture Acupuncture is an ancient medical system which…read morehas been practised in China and other Eastern countries for thousands of years. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine Qi (or vital energy) circulates through a series of invisible channels beneath the skin. Qi consists of equal and opposite qualities - Yin and Yang - and when these become unbalanced, the flow of Qi is disrupted and over time, ill health may occur. The flow of Qi can be disturbed by factors such as emotional states, poor nutrition, stimulants, weather conditions, hereditary factors, infections, toxins and trauma. Acupuncture involves the gentle insertion of very fine needles in key areas along the channels (acupuncture points) to stimulate and balance Qi in order to restore health. Taking into account a wide range of signs and symptoms (including tongue and pulse diagnosis) the aim is to identify a pattern which points to an underlying imbalance that can be corrected by safe and effective treatment. Often described as a means of pain relief, acupuncture is in fact used to assist people with a wide range of health issues, including: Pain Sports injuries Repetitive strain injuries Arthritis Rheumatism Insomnia Anxiety and depression Respiratory disorders Digestive problems Gynaecological issues Allergies Circulatory problems Headaches Immune disorders It may be possible to improve the symptoms of other conditions and it is always worth enquiring about any particular problem you may have.
