Let me start off with saying ONE STAR is way too generous for this location.
I dropped my van off May 16th after a recommendation from Progressive Insurance. It was not a good experience from the start. Well, it was for the first day. Then I got the estimate. All downhill from there. What should have been an easy repair turned into 73 days of HELL. The adjuster took the word of a body tech that he could repair the rear hatch. Something that should never be attempted when the impact was hard enough to damage the rear body panel to the point of needing replaced. Even the regional manager said they should have replaced it from the beginning, but I'll get to him later. After 4 weeks, and NO COMMUNICATION (even though I requested daily contact from them on the info sheet), I returned to the shop to find almost NOTHING done to my vehicle. I also found out that Progressive was no longer paying for the rental. Gerber was paying out of pocket. You think this would speed them up, NOPE. I was going out of town for two weeks, and we would not be availabe to pick it up for that length of time. Two weeks go by and I finally got a call from Andrea, who at the beginning promised she would keep in contact with me. That turned out to be a lie. I'm starting to pick up a pattern. So she begins to tell me my vehicle is ready. So, I drive home from working in Atlanta. Only to find out that the body repair was horrible. Body filler was wavy. Gaps around the sort-of-repaired hatch were uneven. lots of dirt in the paint. ETC, ETC, ETC!! I refused to pick it up. This didn't make JT happy. He argued with me. I waited for a bit and called back. JT informed me that he wasn't going to touch the van until Progressive approved a new hatch. REALLY?! "Didn't I say that from the beginning", I said to him. He said "99% of people would have taken it the way it was the first time." And, yes I did just quote him on that. He also said "If you come Friday and you don't like it, then you can take it somewhere else". What kind of work are you guys pushing out on people that don't know what to look for? So, I wait around after he said it would be ready in 2 days. 5 days go by and he calls me to tell me it's ready. I drive another 30 minutes up there, and guess what. The new hatch wasnt lined up either. The paint sucked. Heavy in some places, light in others. My 6 year old boy even noticed how bad it looked. He said "Daddy, it's crooked". I told JT I wasn't accepting it. He shoves the keys in my face and says "Take you van!"So, now I have Customer Care involved as well as the Regional Manager, Kyle. Kyle said he would personally look over the van and make sure it was ready before attempting to deliver it. I never get another call. I just happened to go up there and find out they had it sitting out front. Apparently it was ready. I go look at it and find the jack just thrown in the compartment. And also find urethane glue on my seat and door panel from the rear window install. I leave and call Kyle several times. He says he was in a meeting in a text, but never calls me. And then has the audacity to TEXT me when it's done. I'm out of town at that time, so reluctantly I have my wife pick it up. That was a mistake. I just got home today to check it out. There is a bolt missing, not a big deal, EXCEPT IT's A BOLT THAT HOLDS THE SEAT DOWN WHERE MY SON SITS!!! Clips are broken or missing. Water leaks around the rear seals, Sanding scratches on my tailights, etc..... And all of these problems and NOT ONE APOLOGY FROM ANYONE at FT Walton Gerber. Not Kyle, not JT, not Andrea, not anyone in the office. The only ones that apologized for the issues i was having was Customer Care, good work Customer Care only. I will tell everyone I know to stay away from Gerber Collision, Ft Walton. If anyone wants pictures, I have them. email me. I'll send them so you can make an informed decision on where to get your investment repaired. joeyromito@gmail.com read more
