Dr. Gerckens is a true professional. I first started coming to Dr Gerckens due to a recommendation from my sister who is a long time patient. I was having extreme lower back pain and after seeing my primary doctor, going to physical therapy and taking muscle relaxers I had little to no relief. I have had bursitis and IT Band issues for many years, where I have had to have cortisone shots to relive the pain - sometime excruciating pain. My internist prescribed anti-inflammatory medications that wreaked havoc on my stomach. I was talking with my Daughter about Anti Inflammatory diets and casually mentioned that a Chiropractor that I had seen about 10 years ago said that my Ileocecal valve sticks open. He would manipulate it and the all was good for a while. My Daughter is in lock down in New Zealand, so she started to investigate the ileocecal valve's function. She found that if the valve is open, intestinal waste backs up and causes many issues - one being inflammation, bursitis, etc. Then my Daughter went on a deep dive and she found Dr. Brant Gerckens in Ventura. I started seeing him about a month before the holidays and what a life changing event it had been. He explained in great detail how the ileocecal valve can cause inflammation, bursitis, etc. He started to treat me and offered dietary insight as well. After only a few treatments, the tendonitis and bursitis are mostly gone - to the point that I really do not notice them. I have not felt this good in 10 years. When you are in constant pain, you try to medicate and forget to really find out why you are in pain - Dr. Gerckens gets to the source of this issue. I now have the energy and motivation to do things that I have not done in years. NEVER had been to a chiropractor before my car accident September 2015 (and RARELY ever heard a good thing about them), where I was diagnosed at the hospital that night with severe whiplash and general lumbar pain, and had pills thrown at me with a paper sheet on stretching exercises. Knew that wasn't going to work within a week! I'm not even 30 yet and was feeling about 80 and I work physical labor regularly. I have long suffered from lower back problems and I have been to chiropractors before who only set your back and then wait for you to return. Dr Gerckens, however is unlike other chiropractors. On the first visit he took the time to explain what muscles can cause back pain and told me stretches that I could do to eliminate the pain. During each visit a few different treatments are done one of which involves stimulating blood flow, a WONDERFUL massage, and then using vibrations to put your back into alignment. They also work on your range of motion and flexibility which also eases back pain. After being a long time sufferer from back pain I can confidently say that after even the first visit I walked out of there feeling much better and continued to feel better the next couple of days. PHENOMENAL relief from acute pain with no drugs! Sunday morning I woke up with a "crook in my neck." It continued to spasm until it was causing pain to such extent, I was nauseous, irritable and just not myself. I couldn't sleep because it was getting worse. I knew I needed to get a chiropractic adjustment, but because of the pain I was in, I could not imagine being able to go to get adjusted by the regular jarring type method. Tuesday a friend told me I needed to do something about it immediately. I agreed that I should go see a chiropractor, but I was afraid of them causing more pain, or me not being able to relax enough to be adjusted at all. She suggested I see Dr. Gerckens because he uses gentle methods to do adjustments. I called and the staff was able to give me a same day appointment. When I arrived I expected to be put on the table and the actuator used on me. I was pleasantly surprised to get electrical stimulation and hot packs to release a bit of the spasm and tension. Okay, next will be the adjustment, I thought. But then Brenda came in and with a firm and gentle massage, managed to calm the spasms and then when Dr. Gerckens came in he did a thorough exam and explained the course of treatment. The whole time, he did not seem in a rush and was very gentle. With two more treatments the same week, my neck is now back to normal. They were very accommodating and so helpful. Dr. Brant and his staff know their stuff. This is more than a Chiro Center. The Dr. works on whole body wellness along with snap, crackle, and popping you back into shape. All the staff are pleasant, professional, and seem to be happy working there, and Dr. Brant is pretty humorous and very knowledgeable. You get a 15 minute back massage prior to seeing the Dr. too. He doesn't rush through the appt and uses a lot of different types of treatments-see the other reviews here-and it just plain works. After spending a lot of money and almost 9 months going to another local Chiro, I heard about this one and made the switch-smart move! Within very few appts I was feeling better than I had in years. Oh-and appts are easy to book. You don't have to wait weeks to get in. They have vitamins and nutritional supplements but don't push sales on you to the irritating point, and don't keep leading you on and getting you to book endless appts just for the money like some other chiro's. This place rocks! I was floating on a cloud when I left his office (could barely drive.) I have been to about 4 chiropractors in my life and this office is unique. First off the Dr. Gercken's team is super friendly. I felt very comfortable. He uses an integrative approach to healing addressing the soft tissue through muscle testing as well as the skeletal system through adjustments. I was particularly impressed with the Doc's know-how and expertise. He really took the time to get to know me and my habits as an individual. Ive been going to Dr. Gerckens recently and it's made a huge difference already. I feel more energized and loved his approach of working on systems he picked up on as being weak. I recently moved a bit too far from my previous chiropractor. Thankfully I found the Gerckens Chiropractic Office in Ventura. The exterior is a bit deceiving for how big the office actually is inside. There's a surprisingly large staff, including Dr Gerckens, front desk attendants, massage therapists, etc. I was having a bit of a sciatic issue, and was hoping to have it addressed. My initial visit was pretty lengthy. But well worth it. Tons of measurements of my spine were taken. A massage was performed as well as an adjustment, along with a few other procedures. I felt a million times better after just one visit. The entire staff seems to be knowledgeable and genuinely caring. There's a whole slew of gadgets and devices they employ to achieve the best results. Three days and three sessions later and I am at 90% recovery. I'm very picky about chiropractors and this place is amazing! My lower back pain had been consistent for over 6 months from a combination of giving birth, lifting 2 small children and doing yard work and stuff around the house. Everyday I was in pain - either severe pain or at best a constant nagging pain in my lower back/hip. After 5 visits I have been pain free for the last week. I am continuing to go to on a monthly basis now just to maintain care and make sure I never get back to the pain that I was in. I like this office because they used several healing techniques that go above and beyond what a simple chiropractor would do. Some of the techniques used are Applied Kinesiology consisting of muscle testing, making sure you're eating healthy/eating non inflammatory foods, keeping stress to a minimum, etc... as all of these things can lead to aches and pains in your body whether we realize it or not. They give massages on every visit to loosen up the muscles before you are adjusted. They have an electric muscle stimulation machine to relax the muscles which I have used every visit for 40 minutes. They have a stretching table to help with back problems. And last but not least the Chiropractor Brant Gerckens does a wonderful job adjusting the bones in your body to get them into the right place and also releasing past trauma throughout your body. All of these things contribute to the overall amazing care that is given to your body without the use of drugs or surgery. The pain may not go away after one visit but with time he will definitely get you feeling back to your old self - pain free. I highly recommend him to anyone! read more
