I've been to Germaine's 3 times now. The first time was amazing. The second time was just as great but this last time with my wife for the first time. It was good. First of all: this place is incredible. I don't know why there are negative reviews. Sure, you drive through a bit of Industrial park, but so what? The staff are great, all are super friendly and very helpful. The food was delicious and FILLING, I can't believe it is an All-you-can-eat buffet because I was definitely full by the first plate. Watching the pig get pulled out from being cooked was super cool and apparently unique as many other luau's do not do it. And the show was phenomenal, It was beautiful and put together very well. The dancers very clearly love their jobs and love to entertain. My family and I did the Plumeria package (the more expensive package) and I think it was great, but if I don't know if we would do it again as the basic package would have been just fine in my opinion. The bartenders are great too, I personally think the drinks were super strong, I think they were wayyyyy too generous with the liquor. I recommend getting the souvenir cup for an extra $12 because you get double the drink for the same price of 1 ticket. Germaine's Luau was incredible, I would definitely recommend this Luau to anyone and would absolutely love to come back to this Luau is the future. Complete trash and waste of money. You are confined to you table with people you don't know. Not allowed to get up and walk around unless getting drinks or using the Lou. Food was cold and bland. A lot of Idle time doing nothing! Benches are very uncomfortable to sit on for 3+ hours. Also don't think about trying to take photos standing because you will get yelled and cussed out by a worker that has short man personality! read more

We had a great Luau experience. Everyone was friendly and had the aloha spirit. All you can eat until you start feeling a food coma settling in .. however, don't be surprised if you're full on your first plate. Only thing missing was a few activities for the kids before the show started. The show was fabulous. I only wish people were not allowed to go back and forth during the show or better yet, have designated isles they can go between to take pictures & videos. I went here after watching Fluffy (comedian) talk about it in his show. Seriously. It was a wonderful experience... but what in the world is that smell? Dang place smells like an out house and ruins the taste of the food. The costumes and show were wonderful. The personalities and staff were great!! My kids thoroughly enjoyed it because they got to participate. The Drinks, yeah buddy!!! The location... yeah... let's work on that. The stage looks a bit dated and the urinal smell was pretty bad. They need to switch up the location because it killed it for me. It was picturesque, but everything is pretty in Hawaii. Great performance but location and smell needs real work. read more

Took my daughter & her aunt while on vacation & it was exactly what we wanted to experience. We got the basic tickets. On the bus ride they take the time to make sure everyone connects. By the time we arrived we had already made friends with our "cousins". Cousin Greg was a great host. He kept up entertained during the ride to and from. The location was great. Okay here is my personal preference review of this luau. First of we got the Plumeria package. Which is their version of VIP. CONS The entrance was not impressive at all due to the surrounding businesses. It kind of ruined the ambience. I'm one that enjoy and expects the experience to match the theme as soon as I arrive to my destination. As you enter, you will head over to the picture area. We were a party of 6. So as we stand in front of the background there is a Hawaiian dancer lady in the background, which in my opinion was a good idea but not when you can only see half of her face, it actually kind of ruined our group picture. They do take two pictures. In the second picture the lady hide herself from the picture by ducking down but in the picture you can see her legs and foot, which again ruined the group picture. So as you are sitted there is fruits and salad at the table for you. It was a total let down. It just reminds me of cafeteria food. They could have done better. Again it didn't give me that Hawaiian ambience. PROS The main dish was good, the pulled pork was for sure a hit. The desert was not a hit with me. I took a bit of each and passed on the extra calories. The show over all was good and put me in the Hawaiian spirits. The one thing that did stand out that was kind of funny was that one of the male performer was a Caucasian men, which I think it kind of ruin the experience since I was moreless expecting the performers to be all native performers or at least look like a native. The drinks were okay in my opinion. Nothing to brag about or talk about. Anyways over all I say it was okay. I don't know if I would recommend this place or not. I have mixed opinion. Two stars for a good reason. The entertainment was good. Everyone enjoyed the entertainment.. -BUT- the food was terrible. I challenge you to find a good food review. The whole take the pig out of the ground thing was a joke.. no pig and probably no heat in the ground.. you gather around and and in about 5 minutes they pull a bag out of the ground and dump assorted pork pre cut meat onto a large metal pan.. Boom that's it. No pig. No pig head. No pig skin. No pig pictures.. Could it be that the meat was cooked a hour earlier in a oven... The food was terrible.. this is a place for tour buses. Okay luau. Not much going on between arriving, dinner and the show. I've been to Paradise Cove Luau and they have things to do like henna tattoos, making leis, or spare throwing. The performers are on the younger side. Like almost teenagers. Other Luaus have adults. We opted for the tour bus option and they try to upsell you to a higher package, which is better seats like 5-10 feet closer lol not worth it. We already paid $100+ I don't want to be upsold on the way. Food was okay. Nothing to write home about. One big gripe that ruined the event for my group of 12. When you get off the bus they have you take photos. At the end if you want their printed copy to $20 per set. On the way back onto the bus they give you the photos to look at and the host comes around asking you to pay or return the photos. Our host Kii gave us 2 sets. But she thought she gave us three and came back to us multiple times asking where the third set was in an accusing way. This was after my dad paid for two sets at $20 each (overpriced). She only gave us two and even before that she joked how she almost gave one set to someone else because we "look alike" (my family is Chinese). So she admitted messing up earlier, yet kept asking us about the third set. Kinda putting us on the spot to the rest of the tour bus. Very unprofessional. Oh, and she asked for tips at the end. Which we don't kind doing, but not after accusing us of stealing an overpriced photo that no one but by Dad wanted. Tip: go to Paradise Cove if you're deciding between the two. read more

We loved were we were seated, we did spend the money to sit there though. The location was amazing! So many great family photos. You drive up to a bunch of industrial buildings and you're like what the F! Yet in their very little corner covered with palm trees and exotic bushes it looks amazing. The food was fantastic! I don't care what the others have said, it was truly the best meal I've had in Hawaii. On to the entertainment. The woman that starts it off and interrupts literally everything the entire time with her ANNOYING voice, is too much. They seriously need to find someone new or make their show a little more entertaining. I would prefer the more entertaining part. There is not enough "entertainment" for the money you spend on being there. They are paying this woman to interrupt everything. Oh let's not forget about the "Chief", that guy is good but literally walks out to say thank you by waving his hand and throwing his fire sticks at the attractive young guys that will soon take his place. First time to Hawaii, first luau, so I had no idea what to expect. Silly me I had this almost like campfire type image in my head with maybe 40-50 people circled around the action. We were told at our event that the crowd size was 500. Seemed more like 5000 to me. The salad that we got when we arrived was disgusting with lettuce turning brown. As for the "main course", it was a total of maybe 3 ounces of food mostly coming from my home town Columbus, Ohio. You had 2-3 pieces of bourbon chicken which is served at all of our mall food courts, near tasteless fish, and pulled pork from City Barbecue (without the barbecue sauce). They said it was a buffet but I never saw more food and only saw one guy out of all 1000 or so people in my immediate vicinity walk back with a second plate. It seemed like it took 2 hours for everyone to get their food. In the meantime you just had to sit there, no entertainment. All people had to do was just pick up an already prepared plate, so I was extremely confused as to what the wait was for. The "show" was Broadway musical meets fashion show basically, and so incredibly boring. We had skipped lunch that day expecting to eat a lot for dinner, but instead were starved to death after the eternal lasting trip back to Waikiki. Thank goodness for ABC! We stopped in there and got some really good sandwiches to eat. By far the low point of our week long Hawaiian honeymoon. read more

They were insensitive to disabled people. I was in line & waiting for my party who arrived later but came in on time before even being tested for temp check. They had them fall at the end of the line even when they saw one of them was on a wheelchair. I was so disappointed & asked for a manager but was denied of talking to one. However I was able to talk to one when we finally got in. She understood my issue & apologized for what happened & said she would address & talk to her people. We liked the location once we got past the industrial park. Waited in line for about 20 minutes as the ticket booth was slow. Had to wait in line for another 15 minutes to get our first drinks. Show was very kitchy...the dancers were good but the ceremonial stuff was ridiculous. MC did all the singing and announcing. Tedious. Food was a little tasteless but plentiful. We were VERY disappointed in this luau after waiting YEARS to go. The food was literally engulfed in flies from the buffet to the tables. (Is it so hard to have fly-fans on the table?). It was disgusting and it swarmed our food. In addition, the "free gift" is a generic water bottle with their label on it crooked (that came off in simple water). Where is it? Literally in the BACK of an industrial area and it looks like a place where you might find a dead body. (Think in the middle of nowhere but surrounded by metal pieces and dirt and trash.) When we were taking the bus there (that they provide) a large television set encased in metal came crashing down and slammed into a woman's forehead. This was the worst luau I've ever been to was poorly orchestrated we paid $174 per adult $164 for 13 to 20 and $154 for under 20 there were 12 of us our total was 1700 and some change we were told we would get six individual family pictures it was a total of three families they put us all together in one group into two pictures at the end when it was time to pick up our pictures I noticed in both pictures you could not see my face in the ad in the second picture you can see my niece or my cousin it was awful we paid for the experience the dancers were awful the only thing that was good was the fire dance the food was awful it was poorly prepared the service was awful and when I spoke to the photo manager about my picture he offered me $20 I was insult it $20 4 messed up photos I don't think so the End result he gave my husband $100 back and apologize but what we can get back is the experience or the photos so if I were you I would not go to that luau if it was the last one on earth read more

We enjoyed the performance, however the food was like cafeteria food. Not worth the money they charge. The drinks are very small full of ice and full of sugar with a splash of alcohol. The seating is horrible. We sat in picnic benches that are high and your feet are not able to touch the floor. When I mentioned to the host that I was disabled and wasn't able sit there she said she couldn't move us. They had plenty of open tables that she could've moved us to, however, she chose to leave us there. I had to stand during the entire performance because the seating was so horrible. We attended this fantastic luau on Nov 1. It was our 5th time, after having enjoyed Germaine's twice in the 80's and twice in the 90's. After so many years, it was wonderful to be back. I cannot over emphasize how delightful an evening we spent at Germaine's! Our hosts were friendly and engaging, the food and drink were first rate and the show was exceptional! The site is absolutely beautiful and the facilities are clean and inviting. The food - seriously - was fantastic! The menu was broad and plentiful, and they kept the buffet open throughout the entertainment and welcomed everyone to go back for more (Guess who has two thumbs and went back for seconds? - This guy!) This was the second time I have attended this Luau, and I have to say I don't care for the Vegas style show they put on now. That being said , I will acknowledge the talent of the show performers. The food was adequate (3 stars). The drinks(1 star) left a lot to be desired , the bartenders have no idea how to mix cocktails other than pouring in too much alcohol and adding some sort of awful syrup....the beer is cold ... The part that annoyed me the most was the non stop talking of the host in a god awful type of ( LET'S GET READY TO Ruuuuumble style announcing ) There are better Luau's for the money, if your looking for a traditional Hawaiian Luau .... this is not it ! read more

Booked a day in advance through Hawaiidiscount.com for 7 people including one baby. We took advantage of the free transportation. While we thought the guide on the bus was fun and friendly, the speakers were loud for our otherwise very easygoing baby. The grounds are beautiful with tall palm trees and a beach with large waves (compared to the ones at Waikiki) and a lighthouse. We got our shell leis and took a photo and then looked for a table. Because we were 7 people, one of the staff set out to find a table where we could sit together, and when there wasn't one, set up a whole table just for us. The sound at the luau was at a lower, more tolerable volume for the baby. The ceremonies, dancing, and live music were incredible. The food was fine-- standard Hawaiian food buffet. There were quite a few flies hanging around though, which was really annoying. We kept waving them away through the whole meal. I enjoyed the fresh pineapple appetizer and the haupia dessert. On the bus back, they give you the printed photo that they took at the beginning and then if you decide not to purchase it, they ask for it back. It felt like an obnoxious sales technique especially because the photos are already printed. If you don't buy them, they just throw them away. They already spent the money in printing them, why not give them to us for free? Also, we were sleepy coming back but the vibe of the bus entertainment continued the party atmosphere. Food sucked, extremely bland and flavorless. They close the "all you can eat" buffet within a couple hours, as well as the bar, so we didn't even finish our drink tickets, waste of money! The people were extremely nice but the event seemed understaffed, only 3 female performers, 4 guys, for an event that looked like it was made to fit at least 50 people. The event space was in the middle of no where and took an hour to get there with no traffic from Honolulu. The performance was following songs and dances from New Zealand and Tahiti which were entertaining enough but not what I came for and was given no idea that it would not be following more Hawaiian traditions. There was some random white lady with a radio announcer voice leading the performance who never introduced herself and seemed out of place among everyone else. The performers were also the event staff when they weren't performing. You do not get your moneys worth! Was an extreme disappointment for my father who had never been to Hawaii before. read more

The entertainment was excellent, they put on an entertaining show. The food was also very good and plenty of it. The one complaint I have is the seating. I paid for the Plumeria package which was supposed to be better seating along with a few other perks. The seating was front row, but all the way to the side of the stage. If you purchase the original package , get ready to not have the best view and have to wait a very long time to get your food since they let the people who payed more money go first! Attended the Luau with the family. The pickup was unorganized. There were several Roberts Hawaii busses all waiting and there wasn't any signage or anyone outside looking for customers. Very confusing and I had to continue to ask all the drivers what bus was the right one. After about 10 mins of asking around I finally found the bus. The bus ride was good. I didn't find it very family or ohana oriented with our bus escort talking to the crowd in the bus with his back turned the whole time. I'll give him credit for this efforts to bring the bus crowd together and his jokes. Arrived at the Luau took some pictures and took a seat. Finally got called for the buffet line and I was very disappointed in the food! Maybe because my party was towards the back but by the time we got to the all you can eat buffet line the first two items in the buffet were gone and never refilled. The fried fish was cold and dry, the main pork dish from the emu was gritty from the sand also very runny, and overall the food was very bland or salty. Not worth the money I spent for my family. Loved everything about this luau! First of all I came with a big party and even though everyone booked separately, I guess they figured out we were together because they called to ask. It was easy to find and as soon as we got there the staff was super friendly. They sat us down together and there were little shows as we were getting drinks and taking pictures. The show was great! And the food was amazing! Great drinks as well. I definitely recommend going there and booking in advance to get a 10% discount. Unfortunately Getmaine's Luau has taken a huge plunge in the last twenty years. My family and I had the experience twenty years ago and thought it was fantastic-- now not so much. The service was horrible. It took two hours to be served dinner and there were flies inside of my wife's salad bowl. The seating was horrendous. We were sat at the farthest table from the stage closest to the water and couldn't see a thing which really wasn't the worst thing as the show was mediocre at best. And the venue looked like a junk yard. They had guests squeezed together at picnic style tables that is really unbelievable especially with everything going on with Covid. How they are still allowed to be open is beyond me. The point of the comment is this: do NOT waste your money on this experience. I cannot recommend another luau (as this is the only one that I've ever seen), but instead recommend you to spend the night at the beach, or at a nice restaurant somewhere else, or honestly just buy yourself a coconut.
