The food was okay. However, the campy entertainment was a flashback to the 1980's. The bus ride to the venue was horrible and the ride back was even worse. Uncle Ron's non-stop talking, sing-a-longs, and inappropriate (sexist) jokes were enough to make me consider jumping out of the bus and onto the interstate out of mere desperation. We decided to go to a luau but decided on it the day before, so it was really short notice. I've never been to a luau so I have nothing to compare it to. All the tables are on sand, so wear flip flops. They do a little presentation at the beginning where they show you how they get the cooked pig out of the ground. They'll call your table one by one to line up for the buffet, the wait wasn't that long as they have many buffet tables. The food was ok. Nothing special though, I expected more from the kahlua pig (not sure if that's what its called). Just got back from a terrific evening at Germaine's Luau! A great show with a really professional staff. The big guy directing traffic in the parking lot, (a thankless job at best) was the introduction to the level of professionalism of the staff. He had to direct parking, ask people to stay in their cars, deal with at least one van driver who parked out of place and more. While we were watching he did it all calmly and well! Then as we went on through the temp check, checkin, seating (all the pre-show stuff that complied with the covid restrictions) every member of the staff we had contact with was polite and professional. The food was good, and the show was great! No long lines, no crowding, good sound system, all was good! It was our 4th or 5th trip to Germaine's in eight years, always a great time! Every time my family visit Oahu we go to Germains luau. I haven't been since I was a kid But nonetheless decided to bring my boyfriend here on a trip this week. Cousin Ke-e (i'm sorry I don't know how to spell her name ) LOL was hilarious and extremely entertaining and helpful. She let us in a tip that if we buy tiki mugs from the gift shop the bar will fill up our drinks instead of using the small Dixie cups. The dancers were great the food was delicious I love this luau, it always feels like one big family getting together. will definitely come back again. read more

A true disappointment! I ordered my tickets using their reservationists who was extremely helpful and I even received a confirmation call the day of. I thought this company really has their act together. Boy was I wrong. I went with a party of six and from the time I got on the bus to the time I left they were constantly trying to up sale this event. On the bus ride over that Germaine's provided representative mislead all of us on the bus. She told us that there is limited seating and you should upgrade your seat so you don't have to split up your party etc.. she lead us to believe that there were a few general tables and lots of people who want those tables good luck. If you upgrade you will have a table waiting for you upon arrival. In addition she told us that all the drinks were the same price and if you upgrade you get two additional tickets for two drinks. We decided to upgrade on the bus. What a mistake. When we got there we didn't receive an upgraded table. We were seated but where we would have been if we just walked in with our initial ticket. There was no table for us like their representative said they would. We were taken to the front row by two of the people who worked for Germaine's. Four of us went up to get our drinks and two stayed back. While getting our drinks the manager came over to the table that we were seated at and told us we had to move. Obviously their staff didn't communicate that they placed us there. When we moved to where the manager seated us it was a regular table- like the one we initially paid for. The new table didn't have the right sign for the upgrade and when we commented they moved a sign over to the table to say now it is an upgrade. This was truly not the case. Next, we received the drink tickets. Guess what their representative on the bus was wrong there are two different prices for drinks five and ten dollars. One ticket or two tickets. The performance was good and entertaining. When it was over and you leave on the bus with the representative that took you to the luau. That person stands at the bus and hands you the photo that you initially took when you arrived. When the representative gets on the bus she tells you the photo is 20 dollars and Walks the bus asking people to purchase their photo or give it back. What a disappointment a total up sale from the time you go to the time you leave with constant misrepresentations! read more

WTF? I had a review and now it's deleted!! We went to Germain's because our daughter is in Hula/Tahitian dance and it's her first time to Hawaii at 9 years old. We drove to Germain's instead of taking the bus. When we arrived we were told by a man at the front to keep walking straight. We walked ahead but nobody was there at all! We wandered around with nobody to help us. 2 women standing around at a podium just watched us wander around and didn't bother to help us. At least 10 minutes went by til my wife went back to the front and asked where are we supposed to go. We were directed to the lady with the camera. After the picture the lady said to go to the tables. We went to the table area and again there was nobody to direct us as to where to sit. We walked around looking where to sit but most of the tables were reserved. Again my wife had to find someone to ask where do we sit. We were put at one of the outer tables but we were technically with a bus. After being seated we saw a few of the dancers taking photos with other guests. My daughter wanted to take a photo with them but they weren't around long enough even though the show wouldn't start for another hour! That was disappointing. One of the dancers did come over and talk a to us for a bit so that was nice. Overall the show was good. The food was good too for a All You Can Eat show. The chicken was the best part. After the show was over the dancers came out to take photos with people but again it was so brief that we missed them. There was one dancer that stayed behind and my daughter was able to take a photo with her. I don't understand why all the other dancers left so fast. There were still so many guests left standing around too. Remember I said we had our photo taken when we finally got directions where to go? When the show was over they had a stand to see your photo. The lady said it was 2 photos for $20. The part I didn't like was that the 2 photos WERE THE SAME! She was misguiding people to think there was 2 different photos for $20! Uh, hhhhheeeeeellllloooo, we knew that we just took 1 photo!! What they do to get you to spend money!! Lastly, like I mentioned​ my original review was somehow deleted but the review was able to have a Representative from Germain's contact me via Yelp. At first she was very inquisitive wanting to know who, what, when, why and how. After several messages back and forth with Ana she asked for my phone number and said someone from the Executive Office will call me. Well, it's been at least 2 weeks and NOBODY HAS CALLED!! I now wonder if all that "concern" was fake which seems to me. I think that they should have offered some sort of compensation. Partial refund or free tickets or some gesture so actually show that Germain's recogizes that their SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE!! LETS SEE IF ANYONE CALLS ME! This was our second and last luau on the Island. It was recommended to us due to its location as it is on the beach. The drive from Waikiki was pretty long, but our tour guide was very funny and made the ride more enjoyable. When we arrived we had our picture taken and then we were shown to our table. I would highly recommend the Hibiscus or Plumeria Package! I have read a lot of reviews about the food, but in my opinion I really enjoyed it. They had a great selection of food and it was all very delicious. The show was great and the entertainer was very funny. I had a great experience and would definitely go again if I could. read more

As a resident, I hadn't been to a commercial luau in many years, so when we had a visitor from the mainland, I thought this would be fun. Beautiful beachfront location, very friendly staff...but... we upgraded and while we were glad we did, the $30pp upgrade price wasn't worth it. We made reservations over the phone and were told "games" begin at 5, and buffet begins at 6, so we were there on time, but we didn't see any "games" or demonstrations. Finally, an hour later, it was time for the imu. The announcer spoke so fast, I could hardly understand him - he sounded like an auctioneer, describing the imu process. I think he mistook his rapid speech for enthusiasm. Food was fine, but it took a long time for everyone to get through the buffet line, nearly 2 hours. The musicians during the meal were fine. I realize many people take the bus from Honolulu, and the drivers are part of their experience, but I wasn't really interested in watching the drivers dance on stage while their passengers cheered for them. The announcer presented dancers wearing traditional costumes from other Polynesian islands, but the music was so loud and again, he spoke so fast, it was very difficult to hear about the different costumes and dance styles and it felt rushed. After the obligatory audience participation "hukilau," it was already 8:15, the show was supposed to end at 8:45. We ended up leaving early, and would have liked to have seen our photos, but they weren't set out yet. It would have been nice if the pace had been a little faster, since we were among the first through the buffet line, we had a lot of "down time," waiting for everyone else. read more

Was very disappointing. We have been to many cultural shows across the world. I have to say, sadly this is by far the worst one I've ever been to. A lot of time was spent just cheering and gathering up the crowd. There were a lot of kids from high schools who were rowdy and loud. We were expecting a nice family show. There was not much in terms of storytelling or action. Just a few hula girls and boys. Sure, they did perform well. But was definitely not worth the money. We had our wedding reception here for 25 of our guest after our wedding. They picked us up from our hotel and drove us back after. Germaine's has always been a must do when ever my family visits Hawaii so it was a perfect location for our reception. Our bus host Reno was so entertaining he made the drive there and back very lively. From the moment we got onto the bus until we got home we were fully entertained. I love the feel of a back yard picnic. The food as always was great. The Kalua Port was nice, tendar and delicious. The free drink tickets was also a bonus for our guests. This is my fourth visit to Germaine's luau since 1982 . I've always enjoyed the staff, the food and the entertainment but I can not give more then a 3 star. I brought my five young adult children and I was disappointed with the entertainment, food was ok and staff need to retire. The bus ride was fun but too Okie and geriatric. This was a great experience and really enjoy how it was ran. Now, if you are not a fan of buffet style eating, or water down drinks, then you may want to not sign up. It was a little pricey for taste, but it was nice that they provided transportation near our hotel. Overall, it will be about a 4 hour event, from travel time, to eating and the return trip. The show is EXCELLENT. The service is good. The food is fair. Our trip was booked a month in advance and they were told that we would like transportation and that my husband was a paraplegic. When the bus got there, they had no way to get a disabled person on i. So we spent over $100 got a cab and when we got to the luau, they had no way to get my husband to our table bc they had sand everywhere. Normally this wouldn't bother me but I had told them in advance that he was in a wheelchair and they assured me that they could accommodate him. The food was good, the entertainment was great but what made the evening special was the atmosphere which projected a feeling of being with one's family. Aloha and Mahalo (hello and thank you) are the words most of us associate with Hawaii but on our recent trip to Oahu, and more specifcally, at Germaine's luau, we were introduced to the word, Ohana. It means family and Ms. Paulette Watson, and Germaine's staff welcomed us into theirs. Paulette was to say the least fantastic, let me explain why. My wife and I were going to Oahu, Hawaii with 8 members of our family to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. We wanted to renew our vows with a Hawaiian ceremony on the beach and we wanted the reception to be held at a luau. We contacted several known tourist luau's and were informed that the only thing they could provide was the luau. That did not deter my wife, she came across Germaine's and asked that I contact them about our needs. You probably guessed it, I got to speak with Paulette, who told me not only was her place the right one for the reception but the worked with a minister (Kalehua-see his 5-star review also) who performs weddings on their property and who she said would love to officate our renewal service. She was right he did perform a moving and memorable service (again, see his 5-star review). Paulette's position at Germaine's Luau is the Executive Director of Sales and Public Relations, so we thought she would have handed the planning and execution of our ceremony and reception to someone on her staff. Well we and you for that matter guessed wrong, not only did she drive an hour from their headquarters to meet us on-site, she stayed the entire evening (6 hours) with us, including being at our renewal ceremony and walking us to the parking lot in the end. She never met us and only communicated via phone and e-mail but one would have never knew that for if you saw her with us you would have thought we were part of Germaine's and for that we are forever greatful for her showing us the true meaning of "Ohana".
