So glad my husband and I stumbled upon this absolute gem!!! We originally came in looking for a tasting of a few reds. We each did the red tasting, which consisted of a Pinot noir rose, Pinot noir dry red, cab Sauvignon and their flagship Shiraz. All of the wines were awesome! So awesome that we decided to join the jockey club to receive a case per year (yes....so good that we are having the case shipped across the world back to the USA!). The jockey club comes with tasting notes and recipes paired with each wine/vintage. Such a cool and fun way to experience the wine. After joining the club, we also each got a half glass of the shiraz (more like a full glass) and got to try a few other wines that we would be getting in our shipment. Loved the atmosphere of the cellar door and appreciate it is family run. The winemaker, his wife, and daughter were all in the cellar door talking to us as well as the locals grabbing a glass. What a wonderful spot and family-run business. Highly highly recommend stopping in here!!

It's all fresh and seasonal and I'm looking forward to dinner soon. The staff are friendly and convivial and more than happy to oblige with requests. The inside tables (3) can be booked, but staff are happy for you to use until reservation time. If you want to kick on & there's a few of you it would be best to book. Inside fills fast and it's noisy, so if you want a more intimate chat get there early (5pm Wed-Fri & 2pm Sunday) or sit outside, but otherwise enjoy the excitement shared by locals of a venue that fills a missing gap for the locals.

Apparently the menu changes a lot based on what fresh ingredients they have sourced that day. The dishes were meat-light, which I actually appreciated ​since I tend to shy away from ordering vego dishes at meals and that meant I got to experience some nice surprises I wouldn't normally have chosen for myself. The wine (recommended by the server) was delicious. The staff are all super-friendly, and the vibe is very relaxed, like you're eating at a mate's place. It's the sort of food you'd usually dress up for, but without the stuffy presentation or attitude. We were over-dressed. We were at a small booth, but the real action appears to be at a large central shared table, so be prepared to make some new friends. The interior fit-out in general is beautiful - lots of carefully crafted wooded details. The only tip - remember you're in the hills. Dress warm :) It's lovely inside, but you have to go outside to get to the toilet and that can be a bit chilly. I can't recommend this place enough. Can't wait to go back for a second go around.

The theme is based on the tale of the flying trunk. The cocktails are delicious. We had the salted caramel star and the so flute. I loved the little pretzel star in the salted caramel. They also serve tapas food. They also serve tapas food. We had the pan fried gnocchi with artichokes, and the buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes. Mmm! The prices are pretty reasonable as well. The cocktails are $17 - $20. The tapas is under $15. We also had a lovely conversation with the owner evi about the design of the place. I'd love to come back again on my way home from workies :) Nothing much more I can add to what Karen F had commented, both Adam & Evi are great hosts. I have only been here for a wine and cocktail so far but this place really adds to the quirky little shops, bakeries and cafes that are popping up on KWR! Fast and friendly service, combined with some unique concoctions and names of cocktails means you will spend most of your time there deciding which cocktail you'll get when you next return. The Elephant Espress is on my list to try next time. If you are like my other half though and think cocktail is for cordial drinkers then never fear - the wine and beer list is for quoffers and swirlers alike. These guys take their booze seriously and I am definitely signing up for one of their monthly "tasting flight masterclasses" in the future.
