I've never been here before. The service was terrible and the coffee was no better than Starbucks.

We loaded up the grandchildren and headed into town. After a disappointing stop at another local café and bakery, we asked a local resident where a good place was to get some pastries. He pointed across the courthouse Square to a place called The Dome. We packed up the grandkids and headed around the Square. Not wanting to be disappointed, grandma went in to make sure they had pastries and pastries they had: cinnamon twists, raspberry domes, apple swirls, c hocolate croissants,l to name a few, just freshly baked. Reasonably priced at three dollars each, we were able to take one of each and a few duplicates so everybody could have a taste of everything back at the cottage. They even had one with sprinkles which made one grandchild very happy. Being this fresh they were exceptionally flaky pastries, and the fillings were just delicious. So if you're an early riser in the Pittsfield Illinois area, make sure you stop by the dome for a great pastry. And the others have said they do have coffee to go with it and if we decide to stay, find a table or sit up in the front where the couches are and enjoy your treat!

I follow them on Facebook (and you should too) and have been so impressed with how many events they host. They are establishing themselves as a place for community meetings and events like coffee with a cop and large get togethers. The space is nicely setup and very cozy with tables and also couches and chairs. The counter is easy to find and order at and they have a case full of food items that all looked good (donuts, fritters, mini cakes). They have the coolest "small business wall"! Small businesses in the area stock their items on the shelves and them customers can buy directly from the business while at the coffee shop - candles, artwork, woodwork, honey, cups, all kinds of cool items! My mom ordered a frozen caramel latte and she really enjoyed it! I did realize right before leaving that they have hot chocolate, so you know I'm trying that next time I'm there! Prices were very affordable. Opportunities for improvement - I didn't see a public restroom or public wi-fi. Both of these are nice to have for the events they have and also to encourage people to stay longer and maybe become a place people hang out and work from.

I've had coffee, lattes, lotus and coffee beans from here. All of it has been fantastic. I love…read moregoing to this place. Would highly recommend. Service and staff have always been great to.

The almond horn and espresso tarts are old favorites. My husband was excited to try the sausage rolls and has enjoyed them. The ambiance is cozy and classy. The large windows allow for a great deal of natural light. There is ample seating inside as well as a couple of tables outside when the weather permits. If you get your food to go, they have offered to heat the necessary food or given instructions on heating if needed for a later time. The owners are extremely friendly and kind.

That is a good and a bad thing. It's good for their bottom line and a bad thing for my waistline and weight. At least when I walk there, I am burning some of the calories I will consume. During the week, I enjoy stopping by and grabbing a pastry or two. It's hard to only buy one, when they have so many to choose from. I then continue on my way and enjoy a Blueberry Scone or Raspberry Lemon Cannoli at my leisure later in the day. When it's the weekend, that is when I dine in and enjoy the full experience of LuciAnna's. I either take a patio table which is pet friendly, or a relaxing table inside the charming dining room. I order at the counter and get my table marker, so they know where I am seated. It brunch time, so that also means it is Bloody Mary time. I always have mine with a cup of black coffee chaser. The two balance each other out. My two favorite entrees are; Waffles or anyone of their Benedicts. Seriously, you cannot go wrong with either of them. Plus, you gotta get an order of the, Million Dollar Bacon. Service is always top notch and attentive. You'll enjoy the tea room atmosphere.

After traveling up via the Grafton SkyTour (reviewed separately), we decided to do the Alpine Coaster first. It cost $18 per adult for one round-trip coaster ride. After completing a waiver on a tablet, we were able to board right away. Strangely, it was not possible for myself (5'5" F) or my partner (6' M) to sit with our backs/necks in the chair and also push the hand accelerators forward all the way. That meant we both were bending forward unsupported for the entire ride in order to go fast (fast = fun!). The coaster itself was nice and shady with twists and turns that we both enjoyed. Unfortunately, we have both had bad back and neck pain and muscle spasms after the coaster (2 days at this point). They really need to move the hand controls back about 5 inches so normal people can reach them while having their backs in the ride. After the coaster, we visited the main building (Terrace) for a glass of wine. The "winery" building was closed during our visit. The main space, which feels like a banquet hall, was well air conditioned with large windows that allow a view of the river valley. The live music was nice. The Cardinals v Cubs game was on the big screen muted. The service was rather slow, which was a surprise considering that it wasn't very busy. Our server was friendly but not very knowledgeable about wine. There were only 3 Aerie's wines on the menu. I tried their Chambourcin, which was pretty good and my partner had a Pinot noir that was okay. After the wine, we took some pictures on the patio and then headed back down the SkyTour.

We arrived around 1pm, apparently their peak but we were quickly seated. Though busy, noise levels were moderate and ambiance was typical of a family restaurant. We both had the country fried steak and biscuits, Karla with scrambled eggs and American fries, basically seasoned fries cut into cubes. She didn't care for the seasoning but she's admitted picky with a very low tolerance for spicy food. I had mine with traditional hash browns and eggs over easy. I've had better country fried steak but it was decent and the meal was otherwise great. Everything was served on one plate, just the way I like it, allowing me to mix things up with my hash browns and biscuits. The biscuits are served on the side of the plate, not topped with gravy in case you'd rather have butter and/or jelly on your biscuits, and they were hot and fluffy with good flavor. It was a very filling meal. The wait staff were great, friendly and responsive. We'll be sure to return to try other items from their impressive menu.
